Lucky for you guys that live close by there. I have one opening 10 minutes from my house, I really have no idea what they could do as a set for Birmingham, Alabama though (maybe the Vulcan). Does anyone know when they announce the date for these openings? TLG seems pretty cryptic about these things; I have no idea when mine is opening, you'd think they'd at least have a "Coming October 2009" or something on the webpage.

Checked the website with the LEGO stores and apparently they are opening one right near my house soon! Does anyone know how long it takes from announcement to actual opening? I couldn't find any information on when it is supposed to open, they seem so secretive about it. I'd love to pack a PaB cup once it does open though.

Are they still in the tub/box? I might be, PM me with specifics.

That's impressive; my niece is turning 5 but we got some Duplo when she was 2 or 3 so that's what she is used to for now. She needs a little egging on but she does create stuff on her own when I help her the first time. She also likes trying to copy pictures but still has some trouble following Lego directions completely correctly which is why Duplo might be a better choice at this time.

My niece's birthday is coming up, and what better way to introduce her to the joys of LEGO than to get her some? I'm looking for any girly set (no castle or dino) and it doesn't have to be too big. PM any you might have and maybe we can trade! (I'd rather trade, since my I'm currently strapped for cash )

The buildings and the texture of the street are really good, I'm impressed. And of course the burning witch is funny as well. Nice details all-around.

Small improvements as well; for instance, I'll add armor racks and other details to my castle or change a color scheme to better fit the surrounding buildings/scenery.

I've had both problems as well, and I'm thinking the chair issue is because of the actual studs on top of the chair. At first I thought it was because of the legs as well, but I tested the legs on an older chair and they were fine. Quite annoying, I thought it was just my particular bad luck but I guess not.

That's actually what I was thinking of using them for, they seem perfect for forestmen, so if anyone wants to send them my way feel free. The shields are appreciated but I think one of each color scimitar would have more suited the trolls.

I got this set from ebay for cheap as well (not $3 cheap, but still ). The listing claimed it was missing "a few" pieces but when I was done building the lion there were maybe 10-15 pieces left. Anyways, nice review and I agree with most of your points!

Those dark brown wooden spears are kind of appealing, though I agree they aren't very troll-like weapons.

I agree it would have been better with two horses, though it shouldn't be hard to mod it to make that happen. I'll probably end up getting it as a counterpart to the Skeleton Carriage.

I thought about adding chains or spider webs, but I thought it would look too busy/cluttered. I'll try adding some and see how it turns out. Flames I could possibly add near the prison, thanks for the recommendation.
