  1. Hi! I recently bought and built my first modular building. I chose the Pet Shop for a number of reasons; I prefer residential buildings to corporate or municipal ones, I loved the vibrant colors, detailed interior and assymetrical design. Overall it was a really pleasant build. Now I am ready to go for the next building and I am having a hard time choosing which one. The two modulars I like most judging from pictures only are unfortunately Green Grocer and Café Corner which are not available anymore (and I'm not going to pay $500+ for a used or brick linked set). None of the other buildings are really appealing to me thematically, I would actually prefer another residential building. Going by looks, I guess the GE is my #1 choice. However, the build seems a bit repetetive as the second and third floor are almost identical. Also, the interior is lacking (which I could MOC I suppose). Now I'm starting to think that maybe I should build my own residentail building instead, or someone else's MOC. If so, which of the current buildings would be the best for parts? Thanks for any input, Björn
  2. These were the first two I bought, and they are already displayed on a shelf together :). I just ned to create a stand for the X-Wing to display it in attack mode. I am now building the 7965 Millennium Falcon, which is my 3rd SW set so far. Also bought a few Stormtroopers which I was missing in the set since it's the "escape from Death Star" scene :)
  3. My number one (and actually only) issue is that the engines are way too small. They were too small on the first UCS model a swell, but then they where at least in scale with the exhausts (which were also too small). Now the exhaust part has the correct size compared to the real model, but they have the same dimension as the puny engines :(
  4. Hi. Since I recently started buying SW Lego, I've been torn between the UCS sets and the standard (minifig scale) sets. Being that the scale is so different, they don't really go together at all. What's your view on this, do you buy both types or do you focus on one of them? The UCS sets seem a lot of fun to build, but I really don't have the space to display them anywhere, and the price tag is of course a bit hefty. I feel that you get a lot more value for money when buying the regular sets (price per peice etc), although the building experience might not be as good. I might also add that I have a 3 months old son who will (hopefully) enjoy Lego in some years from now, and the playability of the standard sets should be much higher.
  5. Hmm... right, maybe I should get a used copy of 7657 instead then. But I find it kind of ugly and not very true to the original design :/
  6. Isn't it about time we get a new AT-ST? The 7657 set is six years old now. I put my hopes up for 2014.
  7. That looks really good, krispy. The wings seems a bit weak, but that's ok when it's only for display I guess. Thanks for posting this.
  8. Twist-ties aren't elastic, that won't work.
  9. Oh thanks, that would be really helpful! Got ya, but I intend to put the piece on display in my living room, so it will defintely get it's share of sunlight :/
  10. Hi, has anyone managed to mod the 9493 X-Wing with an alternate solution to the rubber bands used in the toggling mechanism for cruise/attack mode? I'll buy this set anyway to accompany the awesome looking 9492 Tie Fighter, but I'm really very sceptical against the rubber band solution as I know by experience that rubber will dry out after a while and getting new rubber bands in a few years will be very difficult. I'd appreciate any help with a decent solution. Cheers Björn
  11. So, with the Mobile Crane MK II coming this year, when can we expect a Bulldozer MK II? Now that's the set I really want.
  12. Hi! My name is Björn and I'm a 35 year old guy from Sweden who just rediscovered Lego. A couple of weeks ago, I was just clicking some link to oldlego.com on Facebook and continued my nostalgia bonanza by surfing lego blogs the whole weekend. I ended up buying three new sets of Lego the other day, which are my first in 20 years: 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (The authenticity caught me and judging by reviews it looks like a really fun build and a nice display piece too) 9492 Lego Star Wars Tie Fighter (The cool factor is so high on this. An iconic craft and I love the aesthetics.) 8259 Mini Bulldozer (I just couldn't resist the cuteness) I used to mostly build Technic in the late 80's / early 90's, but I'm a bit put off by the transformation Tehcnic did in the later 90's - I want my Lego to look like Lego, not like plastic Meccano. But maybe I'll try to find some older sets on ebay. Anyway, I'm looking forward to a lot of fun building the coming years, especially since I have a little son who hopefully will grow up and appreciate Lego the same way I did. Also, this forum seems great!
