On the heels of the faux-police interrogation scenes, it's too much. Which was my main point. But, in the larger picture, it's the type of thing that makes Sidious' arguments against the Jedi viable. I feel the same way when there is a military scandal, they are public workers. There is no internal affairs.

Warner Brothers planning CGI/live action LEGO film
def replied to Whittleberry's topic in Culture & Multimedia
This film is sounding very interesting. Here's some of an interview on Collider http://www.collider.com/2010/07/06/phil-lord-interview-lego-movie-21-jump-street-cloudy-with-a-chance-of-meatballs-2/ -
Episode 3: Children of the Force Nope, didn't care for this one. It's not terrible, just middling. At least it properly continued from where the last episode left off though. Cad Bane has a MacGuffin, er, "holocron cube" and can use it to track force-babies down. Anakin and the Jedi council use their force powers to see where Bane will strike next. Why don't they just do that all the time? Why isn't there a Jedi pre-cog division? Anyway, the episode manages to work in a number of locales, Rodia, Naboo, Mustafar, and an asteroid hideout where the holocron gets recovered, which adds to the business of the episode. The first half of episode plays out a lot like an episode of Law & Order. They get a lead on Bane and he escapes, then they get a second lead and catch him. For the middle part of the episode, Bane's in the interrogation room, with Obi Wan as good cop and Mace Windu as bad cop. Obi Wan later goes on to say it's "an internal Jedi affair" The episode ends with a battle on Mustafar against two nanny robots. Sorry, but nanny-robot-battle doesn't make for a great climax. While the episode had some good character moments for Bane, the Jedi, and Darth Sidious, there just wasn't much focus in this cluttered episode. And I hate the word 'youngling'. Rating:7/10 There were some cool ships, first of all, we got to see the V-19 with a hyperspace ring on it! The hyperspace ring is a notoriously boring build, but they look so good! And we saw Obi Wan's fighter with a hyperspace ring too, which I think we first saw in Attack of the Clones. Obi Wan and Mace take Bane on this ringless cruiser that has a large wing that turns vertically perpendicular when in flight. Very cool looking. T-6 Shuttle And we see Bane's ship, which looks like a modified Magna Guard ship. This would have been a more sensible ship to make than the Corsucant cruiser they made in the 2010 sets. Xanadu Blood This episode has Jedi babies, er... younglings. Does anybody want Jedi younglings? And it has nanny robots. I've written before about how I'd like to see the series expand beyond space ships, but these had no impact on me. To their credit, I doubt they were designed as nannies, rather, they were modified for the task. And just a little nastiness to end the recap. Ahsoka getting kneed in the tit by Cad Bane. Did nobody think of this for the Epic Scenes contest? Lego ships appearing: Separatists Shuttle, V-19, Obi Wan's Starfighter, Republic Gunship Added to the Lego wishlist: Xanadu Blood, T-6 Shuttle

It seems LEGO is doing an exclusive with Japan's ANA airlines for their sky shop. Not worth the cost, but surely something people will want. http://www.astyle.jp/category/anaoriginal/goods/Q00147060.html

well, za-daiso are all over here, but I've never seen clones... But I've never deeply looked. You might find some. Za-Daiso isn't hard to find though, so you'll have a chance to do so yourself

Well, I don't see anything here at minifig scale if that's what you're looking for. Daiya Blocks tends to be 2x8 and bigger. I'll keep an eye out this weekend, but the ¥100 (hyaku-en) shops haven't had anything that I've seen up to now.

The Lightning Squadron was one of my favorite things in Clone Wars S1. You did a great job recreating it! Cheers.

I really thought the second episode was phenomenal. If I reviewed it, it would lose a lot of marks for that massive story telling gap. I genuinely think they had written another episode in between, but it got cut somewhere. If they had taken their time, it would practically be a movie, and would be far better. Still, the no-gravity battle is one of the best Star Wars-things I've ever seen, including the original trilogy. It was conceptually great, and carried out with skill. I just wish the three episodes worked together better though. Commander Rob: About your comment of Ahsoka being too young to command, you should really love these episodes! They directly addressed that issue and proved your point! She's stupid in these episodes, and almost causes the Republic to fail. there's problems with Ahsoka, and these episodes highlight and address that point. And they agree with you! She's immature. I know Eurobricks has a no kids policy, but I wonder if there are any Ahsoka fans out there. I can't imagine adults finder her anything more than tolerable. (and I find her tolerable myself.)

Not really, Japan is pretty strict with copyright enforcement. But there is a major other company, Daiya-blocks, which make similar sets to LEGO, and they also make Nano-blocks, which look pretty cool. http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E6%B2%B3%E7%94%B0-NBH-004-nanoblock-%E3%82%B5%E3%82%B0%E3%83%A9%E3%83%80%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%9F%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2/dp/B002GWV7D4/ref=pd_sim_t_1

Zam has been fixed Though it's the first of three, I think it stands well on its own, and due to weird pacing in the second and a lackluster third part, its best to judge it on its own. In fact, as the theme of this thread is "rewatching", I'll say that this episode is better on second and third viewing. Bane isn't perfect, and he has to think on the fly, but he is very effective, and makes him a credible villain, the opposite of what happened with Grievous in season 1. I recommend this episode for old school purists who don't like the Clone Wars. Episode 2 is up soon, with Oky Wan Kenobi doing the honors. We'll be tag-teaming the season to keep me from burn-out

Episode 1: Holocron Heist I think when they started season 2, they had a lot to prove. Though the first season was generally successful, there was some criticisms, about the animation and the characters, and I think they took these criticisms to heart, and the series improved overall in the second season. It managed a lot more consistency. The first episode really has a Star Wars feel, though it's covers a lot of new ground. The story starts on Felucia, the day-glow plant planet, with a Clone War in progress, but quickly shifts to the Jedi Temple on Corusant, where Asoka is assigned guard duty. Bounty hunter Cad Bane schemes to break into the temple to steal a holicron crystal. Bane enlists a team to help him, a neurotic robot and a shape shifter. I won't tell how it plays out, but the story takes some twists and turns, and all are satisfying, and relatively unpredictable. The animation is very smooth, the lighting is great, very noirish in places, there's a great use of shadows. The temple is not particularly busy, but there are Jedi in the background to make it seem more 'real'. It's great to see Kit Fisto and Luminara Unduli walking through the background. Also, the decision to follow Bane and the bad guys as much as the good guys makes it hard to choose who to root for, and adds a complexity to the story telling. This was a really good episode and a great way to kick off the season. The episode was written by Paul Dini, who wrote one of the best episodes from season 1, Cloak of Darkness, and who famously defined the style of DC's animated properties, so you can see that the producers really wanted to blow us away. Great. Rating: 10/10 (There won't be many, if any other 10/10 ratings) Piles of stuff appeared and premiered in this episode, one of the happy treats is the Turbo Tank. Season one mostly just featured AT-TEs, and it's great to see more of the variety of the fleet. Turbo Tank I think TLG did a really nice job putting this together. I wonder if the undercarriage is a little flimsy, but I'll have to wait until I get my own to make the call. From Jansued's review There were a lot of other ships too, notably Republic Gunships, V-19s, and Plo Koon in his fighter. The new characters were quite welcome. The most impressive is the alien shape shifter, one of Zam Wessel's species, I assume. Smart and smooth, a slick creation. Cato Parasitti The odds and ends Jedi were a nice addition too. Logically, there are all levels of Jedi, even though we don't usually see them. One we only see as a corpse, Ord Enisence. Ord Enisence We also have an old lady Jedi. We're not sure of her skills, since 'she' fights only as a clawdite impersonator. Jocasta Nu The last character is Banes nebbish assistant. He was a funny, if minor, character. Todo 360 Lego ships appearing: V-19, Republic Gunship, Turbo Tank, Plo Koon's Starfighter, AT-TE, Vulture Droid Lego wishlist: Cato Parasitti, Ord Enisnece, Jocasta Nu, Todo 360

Especially to me? I'm not even in the contest, I was just voting. I just think it's really juvenile trying to rig a MOC contest. It's the person who loses their prize if you win a place that needs apologizing to. As for being branded bad, well, actions speak louder than words. You get the reputation you earn. You're the one in control of that.
-
Oh. It's not because he gave you three votes, and that you're buddies on Eirebricks, just like Showaddy gave Burman three votes and is a mod on Eirebricks. It was just a coincidence. There are almost no "three votes" in the contest so far, and then you three Eirebrickers give three to each other. Just a coincidence and deep respect Cheating is lame, and cheating in an online LEGO contest is incredibly lame. Really really sad. A lot of people spent time organizing and submitting for this contest, and you're pissing on that effort. Not cool, and you, Showaddy, and Burman, deserve to be on everyone's bad list from now on.

Really, this hasn't been a problem for me, but for some reason, on a sober-ish night between two drunken nights this week, I had a Eurobricks related dream. It was all nonsense, but bear with me. First, I was in Mongolia. But it wasn't Mongolia, it looked a heck of a lot more like Eastern Europe. As I wandered the streets, I met a pack of 20-somethings, and one happened to be Whitefang (who is, of course, in Singapore; dream logic, you know? Mongolia=Singapore). He said hi, but was with his buddies and didn't want a tag-along. He was being nice, but wanted to give me the brush off, and gave me a free ticket to an anime convention, then left. And I don't care for anime. So I wandered the alley ways, and ended up in a great man made valley constructed of tetrapods layered with foliage, kind of like the Babylon gardens. I observed pleasure cruises on a lake in the middle, and realized there had been luxury spas built into the walls of the site. Anyway, it was all kind of ridiculous, as I woke up wanting to enjoy the spas, but realizing I was locked out. I've had dreams involving another forum I admin for, since it got on my mind, but this is the first time since joining here that Eurobricks has infected my sub-conscious. Has your sub-conscious been infected by this site? (btw, sorry Whitie, I promise never to dream of you again.

I got two sets this week. The Clone Wars Pirate Tank had been on my wishlist a while. And I love it. And I've purchased another Life on Mars set, since it's a nostalgic favorite series. I'd love to collect them all. I ordered 7316, a bizarre mech. I'm sure it will be slightly underwhelming. But it was cheap.

Well, I spent $100 putting mine together and sending it there, and that portfolio will have to speak for itself. If they don't care for what's there, a few more pages won't save it. That said, if I do some fantastic pages in the next few weeks, I may send an addendum. But I think it's best to leave it as is and reapply in a year or two with new stuff. How many members are applying? I did.
-
Geez! If they had announced this earlier, I could have spent another month on my portfolio! Soooo frustrating.

Very crafty... Very, very crafty.

the new code policy to show pics and links live as you put them in is great... Unless you do long complex image posts as I do In which case, I usually post one or two pics, then copy and paste them and then change the number, rather than copy paste each individual pic. So, is there a way to turn this option off when making posts?

I think it's fine to be in the reserves. Although I love Mafia games, since I'm not so interested in Harry Potter in particular, others might get more pleasure from it than me. But, if I get called on to play, watch out! Good luck folks, this looks to be a complicated one.

I watched the two episodes today, and, though they weren't classic, they were good, and better than the movies. I hope they manage a classic episode this season though. I will watch regardless. Has anyone here watched the series with the DVD commentary? I love them. One episode, Billy West sits in and sings the 'theme song for Futurama', which is basically him singing "Fuuu-che-ra-ma, fuuu-che-ra-ma" to the bell sound of the theme. Years later, it's all I hear when I hear the theme song.

I like the ships you made, but I think the greebling on the baseplate could be improved. It could use some more studs or pipes to make it seem more complicated. Nice job overall.

You have a really interesting process. Thanks for showing us!

What you've done here is really beautiful. As I've spent the last three weeks doing minifig designs, I can really appreciate the work you've done. I particularly like the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Retro monsters are very cool.

Here's an AVClub interview with David X. Cohen. http://www.avclub.com/articles/david-x-cohen,42482/
