  1. I signed up at the bricktober website but haven't received any emails from it. Anyway, does anyone know where the minifig plushes are at Kmart? I looked at both the LEGO section and soft toy section in the giant Kmart in Burwood East and couldn't find anything.
  2. A very nice interview, I'm happy that there's more on the way! I like how Jamie gives detailed answers which answer what you ask, and doesn't give you any bureaucratic nonsense. It's so good that he's willing to spend some time informing the community about his work! Keep up the good work Capt. Zuloo
  3. Hi Eurobricks members, I just found out about a service called SHIPITO, and I think many people on here will find it useful. What is it, you ask? It will give you a US Postal Address to which you can have anything shipped to and then sent on to you, where ever you live in the world. To those in European countries who don't have contacts in the US to send them the cheaper LEGO which is available in the US, you could do this instead. This allows you to buy things from the USA S@H store, and from Amazon. Although I haven't used it, it looks promising for those living in high-cost-LEGO countries. An example: Say I live in Germany and want to buy the 10197 Fire Brigade. In the US this costs $150, in Germany this is €150 €150 = $220 Supposing US S@H has free shipping for orders over $75 as they do at the moment, for shipping you would pay, according to the SHIPITO shipping calculator, about $43 for USPS Priority International shipping, plus the $4.40 optional insurance and the $8.50 flat rate which Shipito charges for its service. Therefore the total cost of the Fire Brigade would be $150+$43+$4.40+$8.50 =$205.90 =€140 OK, so that's a saving of €10. But for other countries in Europe where LEGO prices are even higher than Germany's, this saving will be bigger. For example, a Finnish person would pay the same price, so that would mean a saving of €60. Also, buying multiple sets at a time will increase the saving. If a German finds a friend who also wants a Fire Brigade, then by splitting the shipping the Fire Brigades will work out to be $187 (€127), saving €23. Then you're also saving the money that would be needed to ship the sets from Germany's S@H, or the time and fuel needed to visit a LEGO Store. The site also offers a service where you can consolidate multiple packages sent from the US, so you could receive an Amazon order, a S@H order and a Bricklink order in the same box, saving on shipping. The only hassle with the service is that you have to fill out the customs declaration form yourself online, but this seems to be simple and straightforward.
  4. I guess it's an exaggerated one or something, I've never heard anyone talking like that in real life.
  5. Noice. It's probably meant to be said with a Kath & Kim voice.
  6. Wow, that's a really great rendition of the Ghan! It was instantly recognisable for me, and when I compared it with a real photo I saw that all the details were spot on. The only thing I don't like is how the decals at the front of the train are a bit distracting since they don't blend that well in with the surrounding bricks. Anyway good work!
  7. Oh, is it only Bionicles? Well that sucks
  8. Where did you find out about the sale from? But OH MY GOD minifig plushes! I'm going to definitely pick one up, that's awesome. All this news of sales is great, especially the big one from David "stingy" Jones.
  9. This is a very useful tool to convert distances to studs and plates, and work out how to make things minifigure-scale.
  10. I don't know whether its worth it or not because I haven't been inside. I have been to the shop that's there though, and it's definitely worth a look. They have quite a bit of merchandise which you can't find at S@H or even the LEGO Stores! There's a small shop at ground level outside the Sony Centre (near the large unmissable giraffe statue), but then there's also a larger shop below ground. To get to this without going through the LLDC you have to go into the cinema inside the Sony Centre and go down the stairs to the cinemas, and then it's hidden around the back of the stairs.
  11. Hi all, job advertisements for the positions of "Store Manager" "Assistant Store manager" and "Verkäufer" (salesperson) have been recently advertised on LEGO.com. The advertisment states that it is looking to staff to work in a brand new LEGO Store in the heart of Berlin. I'm interested in why LEGO is opening a Store in Berlin because of the fact that there's already the store of the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre at Potzdamer Platz, which already sells lots of Store-exclusive and S@H-exclusive merchandise. I'm guessing that this new store will be located far away from Potzdamer Platz.
  12. I absolutely love Peeron and find it very useful, but it usually takes longer to load than other sites. From past experience, I also think that it would be a much better resource if it could be edited by anyone with an account, like a Wiki. That way, there's less work for the admins of the site, updates happen quicker and errors can be quickly corrected.
  13. I think that airline logo looks more like the Lufthansa logo:
  14. Arthur Parson says LEGO are "actually re-launching the Harry Potter range", not "considering" it. That article was only posted the other day, so it could well reflect developments that have happened at LEGO since the HP '10 was closed. BTW, shun the non-believers I say! If you only want to come here to grumble or shut down threads where a bunch of LEGO HP fans are hoping for more HP sets, don't come here at all.
  15. Yes, LEGO will mail two to the same household, so I'm not sure what's up with that. I haven't got mine yet though.
  16. Myer in Melbourne CBD has everything. SP3, new Indy, new City, new SW, new creator, NXT 2.0, new Castle The following sets are now 30% off - City crawler crane, bulldozer and freight plane. I can't wait for a sale to happen there, I'd be in there straightaway. I can't imagine we'll see anything for a while though.
  17. I wasn't thinking that HP would return but look at this, Mads Nipper himself is saying in an article only a few months ago that LEGO is considering bringing back the line. There's still hope, it would seem. I assume that if LEGO brought back the line, they'd do an Indy and make sets based on the whole series. Maybe they wouldn't do the darker books though, since the game is only years 1-4. That would make sense from a marketing point of view.
  18. Myer in Melbourne CBD has new SW and Creator but no new Indy. The Venator is there too. (I wasn't sure if that's meant to be an uncommon set?)
  19. I saw IG the day it came out, and loved it apart from the gore. The characters were so rich and memorable, the dialogue priceless, and it was also really funny. I understand that Tarantino doesn't appeal to everyone though, it's film buffs who particularly appreciate his films because of all the genre references. If you are a 10-y-o kid who loved the terrible excuses for "films" which are Transformers 2 and G.I.Joe, then I can understand where you're coming from. Tarantino is an adult taste.
  20. This is a great analysis of the two themes. Yes, I like PM better despite having no sets from either themes, but RR had some pretty nice pieces. Printed parts, chrome drill pieces, and the uncommon colour that is Teal.
  21. Exactly, any smartphone is useful and can open pdfs and web pages. What I want to know is why you would use brickset to find a good review of a set. I have an iPhone too, and use it all the time when at the shops looking at LEGO, but I don't see the need to boast about it. P.S. Also, why are you on Telstra? Their plans are so expensive compared to Optus.
  22. Yes, IMHO this is exactly what will happen :(
  23. My local DJs just restocked! No sale though. Oh well, at least they havent entirely given up on LEGO. The new Star Wars and Creator sets are now there.
  24. Is that the Transformers 2 with a 20% rating at Rotten Tomatoes? Anyway, thankfully nothing is confirmed about this movie yet. A representative from LEGO is working with the writers and producers as well, and if the script is bad I'm sure they'll stop it from being greenlighted.
  25. Hence, links to more reputable sources such as Reuters.
