  1. The Myer catalogue is online, and the sale is until the 23rd of November. Up to 40% off some sets, like the Ring of Fire and Golden Anniversary Set. Otherwise it's upward of 20% off. Wow, this is strange....first the plummeting value of the AUD means that we're almost on price parity with the US, and now good old Myer is throwing huge savings at us! I picked a Temple Escape set there for 25% off about a month ago... Now let's just hope that DJs has a sale, I want to get my mitts on a Green Grocer...
  2. Well of course people are nicer here, they will praise worse brickfilms because they are not critical of them (because they don't know a lot about animation and the process of brickfilming). Similarly, at BiM people are wowed by fairly average quality MOCs.
  3. Being an active member of the online brickfilming community, I thought I should make a long post to explain my views on this subject. It doesn't cost money to add films to the Brickfilms.com directory, well at least it didn't. Since the new administration has come along, enraging most of the community with its poor communication and unfair action, the directory has been locked by them to avoid vandalism. (see this for more information) Most of the community has migrated to Bricks in Motion, where a new website is currently being built. It will have a new directory there when it is finished in the next one or two months. Do you mean the current community at Brickfilms.com? I'm not surprised, there's no one there to welcome you and be friendly, except the occasional troll. The original brickfilms community (now at Bricks In Motion) are a great bunch of guys and gals, although it's a smaller group than here at EB. As the old saying within the brickfilming community goes, "It's not just a cult, it's a family". If you'd like to join us and share your films, we would welcome you with open arms! I'd just like to say here that there is already a large repository of tutorials and stuff here. It was written by the brickfilms community before we all moved to BiM. And when BiM is finished, a new tutorial section will be built there! Yeah, EB is more about LEGO than brickfilming, and brickfilming is really more about animation than LEGO. Think about it, is claymation really more about plasticine, or the story it's telling? By making a brickfilming forum here, you're going to make a place for EBers to share their films and talk about brickfilming, but don't expect the BiM members to migrate here to talk about it too. We have our own forum dedicated to LEGO, but I don't see many EBers around there. If you're really interested in becoming a better brickfilmer, then it'd be a good idea to come over to BiM, as there are a lot of really experienced brickfilmers there who can give you a lot of advice. By learning about brickfilming here only, you're not going to have access to this treasure trove of information.
  4. May I please join the academy? It sounds fun, and I would like to know about the art of review writing!
  5. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! You can see what I've done so far at my YouTube channel. I'd give you a link to my website too, but I (still) haven't made it. Maybe I'll post longer films on EB, I don't want to post every little thing I do here they don't all merit their own thread. But I'll be posting everything over at Bricks in Motion! You're from BiM too right? Great! Is your last name Whittle? That's cool. "Whittleberry" is a word I made up when I was 10, and it's a nickname I gave to my stuffed wombat VBBN, I avoid Bionicle too (although the 1st gen ones are quite nostalgic, don't you think?). I guess I shouldn't dislike EF so much because of all the nice pieces and weird minifig hairdos, but I've never really been introduced to it, and I stay away from it mainly because of how random it looks!
  6. Do you mean "which LDraw CAD program should I use"? Go to www.ldraw.org and click "Get Started, download LDraw" and then click on one of the links which corresponds to your Operating System. Most people seem to use MLCad to build their models, LDView to render them quickly to view, and POV-Ray to render high-quality images of their models. All these programs are included in the Windows "LDraw Tools Installer". Good luck!
  7. Hey guys, I'm Whittleberry (aka Mitchell). I've been lurking around here for quite a while now, but I've finally joined! It's nice to be here with so many friendly LEGO fans! Anyway, I'm mainly a brickfilmer (I'm part of the Bricks in Motion (BiM) community (username=Whittleberry)), but I'm a TFOL too, so I thought I'd join here to give my opinions/maybe make reviews/etc. So hello again! By the way, I'm into many different LEGO themes; Indiana Jones (especially classic), Star Wars (just not Clone Wars), City, Castle, Harry Potter, module buildings (Cafe Corner etc.), and Pirates. I also briefly foray into other themes, like Agents. I steer well clear of Exo Force, Belville and Spongebob (and Power Miners).
  8. Hi everyone, this is my first post! Anyway, David Jones has the Cafe Corner again ($250), the Green Grocer ($250) and the VW Beetle ($200). Now I'm patiently waiting for them to have a sale....the last one was last December. btw, Hollisbrick, this is the guy who once contacted you to tell you about Moore Educational selling the Castle Battlepacks
