Custom Minifigures on Kickstarter
ED-209 replied to ED-209's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Just another quick update to say that we've added eight more figures to the standard "campaign range". And if you're in the US or Europe don't forget to check out an online currency converter - the Australian dollar is so weak at the moment that the prices are probably cheaper than you think! Hope you like them! And if there's any questions or suggestions please ask! -
As promised, Kilgrave's face with no hair: Yes, you mean a dark blue torso with just his shirt? (No waistcoat?) I don't really know, I just design my own! But I do think you're right. If you were after a purist version The Doctor's purple suit would be good, or possibly even the Heath Ledger Joker suit if you changed the hands: Add the dark brown hair and one of these stubbled heads and you'd be good: http://www.bricklink...p?P=3626cpb0946 http://www.bricklink...p?P=3626bpb0415 http://www.bricklink...p?P=3626bpb0419 Thanks! I prefer them too. I was thinking of making the wounds look more "cartoony" like on the CMF Dino Tracker. What do you think of that idea? https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2948/15328916780_a0cf963428_b.jpg

Custom Minifigures on Kickstarter
ED-209 replied to ED-209's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks nivremis! Good question about Kickstarter. It works on an "all or nothing" funding model, if a campaign doesn't reach its funding goal, no money changes hands. The backers don't get charged at all, and the project sadly doesn't go ahead. It works that way because a campaign's funding goal is meant to be the minimum required to get the project up and running - in my case if I can't raise the funds to buy the printer, then I can't make the figures for the backers. -
Yeah that would be no problem at all, I'll try to get it online tomorrow! I agree his costume is darker in the show, but this is the most accurate shade of purple from Lego's palette. So, if Lego were to make a minifig of Kilgrave (which they'd never do, I'm sure!) this is probably the colour that they'd use - if that makes sense to you? (I think I just confused myself there...)

Custom Minifigures on Kickstarter
ED-209 replied to ED-209's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Well help get the word out about the Kickstarter campaign, and then we'll be that much closer to being able to print metallic ink! Thank you, my philosophy is really a "by fans, for fans" kind of thing for the community. I'm not looking to make a tonne of money off other people (in fact all the money from the campaign goes to buying and shipping the printer, buying the blank Lego parts, posting the pledges to the backers, and the small fees paid to Kickstarter - all the time I'll spend designing the bespoke figures is being given away for free! ) You're asking how much figures will cost once the Kickstarter campaign is funded and finished? I expect similar, but perhaps a little higher. I haven't worked out all the finer details as I've been focusing all my energy on the initial funding goal, but of course the ongoing prices would have to cover my time to make it sustainable in the long term. So if you're trying to weigh up whether to back now or wait until later, yes the pricing will be better now! -

Ooh, man is this is a blast from the past! Of course you can - The helmet is just one of the old Classic Space/Castle ones in light grey (not light bluish grey). The original part was damaged, so I felt no guilt trimming it down! Robocop is wearing it backwards, so that it covers his eyes. The chinstrap is a strip of thin flexible polypropylene plastic that was cut to the right size and shape, then curved around and glued onto the helmet at the temples. Another piece was cut to form the back of Robo's head. That's really all there was to it, I'm glad you like the fig! -
Yes I can! Great idea! Why didn't I think of that?!

Custom Minifigures on Kickstarter
ED-209 replied to ED-209's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks Wardancer, that means a lot coming from you! (The Vikings range back in 2005 is what brought me out of my Dark Ages, hence "Jolly Viking") Metallic ink isn't part of the Kickstarter campaign I'm afraid. As far as I'm aware it simply can't be done on a UV printer for chemical reasons. Although if the Kickstarter is successful, the next part of my plans will be to eventually get my hands on a manual pad printer! That way I'll be able to overprint the UV printed design with specialised inks like metallics. Best of both worlds! I've also added another video to the Kickstarter page containing a collection of designs/ideas for the one-of-a-kind prints! Hit the link in my sig to check it out. -
Thanks guys! Good observation about the lipstick. Here's a darker version: Gedren, I tried off centre reflections in her eyes, but moving them in sync (ie: both up and to the left) didn't really make her expression look any different. Moving them either both outwards or inwards made her look like she'd just taken a sharp blow to the head! Do you have any examples of the look you're describing? I can't explain it, but I have an overwhelming need to post a design for Kilgrave too:

BrickWarriors Nov 2015 - New Pirate Pieces!

Excellent! So slicing the "glass" out with a scalpel and mounting an LED inside might be possible then? -
Wow, that's really quite amazing to see them all together like that! Good job! I just wish that whenever TLG made a new hairpiece that they'd try to bring it out in a range of useful colours. Even just as random people in the City range or something, after all you can never have too many options! Personally I'd love to have element 88283 in tan (brick yellow): http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=88283&idColor=103#T=C&C=103

Just a quick update to show the designs for the back printing on some of the figures: Hope you like 'em! -
Has anyone else been watching the new Marvel/Netflix show Jessica Jones? She's a former costumed super hero turned private investigator (and alcoholic!) Figured she deserved the Lego figure treatment, but haven't decided on the hair yet. I'm leaning towards 95225 in black but am open to any suggestions: And even though he's officially appeared (in his comic book incarnation) in set 76016, here's Luke Cage based on his Henley-shirt-loving appearance on the show: As always any feedback is most welcome!

Wow, I was expecting the scale to look odd, but that's surprisingly effective! Well done! Have you thought of using one of those oversized minifig torch keyrings? -

Gorgeous! Is the lantern hollow by any chance? -
Hi everyone! I've just launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of making custom printed minifigs, and wanted to share some of the designs we're including in the campaign (we're also offering bespoke made-to-order figures!) You can click the link in my sig for more info, here are the designs - hope you like them and I'd love to hear your thoughts! *EDIT* Perhaps the most promising figure is the bespoke made-to-order minifig!

Due to the design problem/issues surrounding the Ant-Man Final Battle set (76039), it was never made available for retail purchase in Australia. Which is a shame, because it's a great set! It includes a minifig of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as the present day Ant-Man, and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) as the 60s era Ant-Man! It's a great idea, but oddly Pym's head is just a reissued Gandalf head from the LOTR range. He doesn't even have his beard! So anyway, I thought I'd design a Pym figure more closely resembling his appearance in the movie: Hope you like it, feedback is of course most welcome!

Quick question about cutting Lego minifig skirts
ED-209 replied to Wonderpants's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
As Wardancer said, I'd expect a sharp scalpel or even sharp scissors would do the trick. I've not cut an official one, but I've made custom capes and they cut perfectly cleanly with sharp tools: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=109244&hl= -
Brickforge's Brick to the Future project
ED-209 replied to slopemodified's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I've supported it, if that helps you? I've bought plenty of stuff from BrickForge in the past and they've always been great quality. -
I love the building Vorkosigan, it's wonderfully done!

Thank you for all the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it! The project really started with the wheel mechanism and snowballed from there. I could make some instructions if there's sufficient interest? I had M.A.S.K. toys when I was a kid, so I'm sure there's some influence showing in the design! Certainly. I was trying to have something that could be inconspicuous when folded down, then be able to unfold and point out the window. I did come up with a few designs, but wasn't 100% happy with them. One had the mechanism in place of the passenger seat, another ate up too much space behind the cabin (reducing the space needed for the other gadgets). I'm not saying that it can't be done, just that I couldn't figure out a solution that wasn't too much of a compromise. But I'm certainly open to any ideas!
