LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion

What's up with the ridiculous pricing of the viking on BL? It can't be that rare already, can it, it only just released and it's already selling for the price of some retired CMFs, makes it difficult to gather even more than a few of them -
Thank ya!

Thank you, guys! Glad to hear you like 'em, there's more on the way soon particularly involving islanders... -
Captain Redbeard and the Pirates of the Black Seas Barracuda _____________________________________________ The legendary Captain Redbeard himself, alongside his crew 'The Pirates of the Black Seas Barracuda', featuring improved figures from 21322, along with some additions to the crew inspired by classic figures that came with some of Captain Redbeard's ships, all ready to keep conquering the Seven Seas and find great treasure...

Cheers, and thank you for the feedback. Will keep that in mind and for now I've made some Photoshop edits, I actually had a flashlight facing the figures in the initial shot but I've found something that may be a fair bit better.

Thank you both, guys! Appreciate the kind words, glad I could capture what I was going for here. As for the peg leg, pretty sure he has it in most sets he appears in. Definitely the sets with the Islanders (of which I have made some modernizations in one of my previous threads, but more is on the way... along with a croc, of course, but something special involving them is on the way so stay tuned for that), so it could be that he got it at one point though I do not recall the figure not having a peg leg.

Post your Pirate Crew: Pirate Figbarfs
General Magma replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Pirates
My modernized version of Captain Ironhook and a part of his crew, most of which were inspired by figures that appeared alongside this captain in sets. -
Captain Ironhook "Captain Ironhook and his crew find themselves on a mysterious island, with stone statues looming over palm trees and huts in red and black standing among hills of rocks. The treasure was supposedly near at hand, and in rowboats, they went forth to collect it, but then, as they approached the cave entrance, the bushes began rustling and figures started to appear atop the roof of rock and stone above them..." _______________________ Captain Ironhook and a part of his crew, modernized. Most of these are based on figures that appeared alongside the character in sets, although the tricorne-wearing ones only loosely.

Which is your preferred skull & bones emblem?

Mostly because this one is very similar to the one in the middle here. The third one is really cool but it's not the same emblem, since that one has cutlasses. -

Disagree. The square head does not resemble a regular stud head nor does it resemble anything like this: I had the same idea in mind before but, the more you look at it, the more you realize the discrepancy and that the original simply works better in general. -
Fantastic, he is avenged!

Just gonna post these here as well. This is my modern version of the classic minifigure character Admiral Woodhouse, alongside an Imperial soldier and a few pirate attackers (the pirate with the musket is actually about to rescue the one with the hook, who is a prisoner in the bit of backstory I came up with for them): -
Admiral Woodhouse versus Pirates "Inside one of Admiral Woodhouse's Imperial Forts, a new pirate prisoner has been delivered to the prison chamber. Meanwhile, however, one of his crewmates is preparing to undergo a daring rescue attempt..." _______________________________________________ Pirates & Imperials! A modern version of the classic minifigure character Admiral Woodhouse, alongside one of his redcoat soldiers and, opposing them, a pair of dangerous pirates, arrrr. (The one with the hook is meant to be the prisoner, seeing as his weapons have been taken from him.)

I'm currently working on a MOC and it's going to be pretty large. I've been figuring out how to properly do the base, especially since there will be a stream of water that will flow through the MOC (no, not real water) and towards the edge, so I want to make sure it'll look good from the side as well. I have also thought of giving it the potential to be expanded later on, so I could go the modular route with regular baseplates, however it might not fit the proportions of a 48x48 or even two 32x32s put together. I've also thought of using a raised base using lots of bricks, and then having a construction with smaller plates underneath it, but then there'd be height added and best would be if the water were close to the ground. But I'll see about that. Basically, I am looking for different techniques and ways to deal with this, so am curious to know if there is a topic somewhere or, better yet, an album of pictures showing various options wherever it may be on the web so I can choose what would be the best option to go for here. This is one thing I have not yet tinkered with before since most of my MOCs were small enough to stand on a bunch of plates, or used no such bases at all or were builds with a short shelf time that were torn apart not long after their photoshoots, but this MOC is supposed to be durable. I want to keep it assembled and, as mentioned before, potentially expand it with new sections and at least be able to pick it up and carry it around without the whole thing falling apart, so any ideas, suggestions and possibilities are welcome as the whole thing gets planned out.

Yeah those are pretty nice and it's cool to have different flags, too. I ordered some of these flags to use for some of my other pirate captains, however, for Captain Redbeard I think the classic jolly roger should definitely stay. There's also this excellent one they did in the most recent pirates line, it's a bit strange they reverted back to the 2009 style: -

Comparison pictures. Let be what I said about the new hat, I actually vastly prefer the classic one... already getting classic flags. And gotta get the big flag in good condition as well to use it on the ship. Comparison. So... okay, let be what I said about the new hat, I actually definitely prefer the classic emblem. -

Yeah, I see what you guys mean. I'm still kinda torn between the two. -
I've been wondering about your thoughts about the new Captain Redbeard's figures skull & bones emblem, which is reminiscent of the hat emblem introduced in 2009's Pirates but made to resemble the classic emblem more. It has more of a square head that seems to work for LEGO figures, but I'm curious to know what you guys think of it. Of course we've all gotten used to the classic one, but I'm starting to think I like the new one better. It seems to suit the LEGO aesthetic more and it's also a more crisp and clear print on the pieces.
