LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 23. Rumors and discussion
General Magma replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The lion king, a man on a hobby horse? They sure had to do some budget cuts to afford a sizable castle by the sound of it -
Maybe there aren't just gold coins in that barrel...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 23. Rumors and discussion
General Magma replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Perhaps it was quite a lot to expect a throwback series but this is going to be a wallet saver... Will get the knight and the pirate but that's it for this one really -

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
General Magma replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I get that this will be the coveted 90th anniversary set and the first real castle set in years, otherwise I'd have said, stick to thy guns... and yet I'll still say it, as never have I spent that much on a single set before, $350 was to be the peak, $450 is too steep.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
General Magma replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The one potential saving grace for me is that the piece count is around 4500 but that's still too steep, especially knowing it was originally going to cost far less, so yeah, I'd prefer to wait for a discount, but who knows when or if that might happen. I think this move is gonna make them miss out on a whole lot of monetary gain, LEGO is expensive enough as is and the costs of living are only going up, in these times luxury goods aren't going to get the highest priority. Maybe quickly snatch up the medieval blacksmith at the very least in the next few weeks, and hope for a price slash for the castle within a year or so.- 2,976 replies

10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set
General Magma replied to R0Sch's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
If the castle ends up going from $350 to $450 then that might actually have me hold off from buying it for at least a while, despite looking forward to it quite a bit. Either that or I miss out on the Medieval Blacksmith along with the Forestmen GWP... definitely was getting them all at first, confusing move of them to do this right when their 90th anniversary sets are slated for release.- 2,976 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 23. Rumors and discussion
General Magma replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I definitely still predict throwbacks to classic characters and a bag packaging to fit the aesthetic of the yellow classic boxes they also use for the modern classic theme sets. -

A revised version of the idea list to include figures from more recent eras as well (this would be way easier if there were still 16 figure runs, but, let's assume it'll be 12 as is usual nowadays). For the few figures that were originally either BIONICLE or minidolls, I would imagine a minifigure version of each of them. 1. Gold Classic Spaceman (Classic Space) 2. Classic Knight (Classic Castle) 3. Lion King (Castle Lion Knights) 4. King Kahuka / Admiral Woodhouse (Pirates) 5. Achu / Pharaoh Hotep (Adventurers) 6. Alpha Draconis (UFO) 7. Toa Tahu (Bionicle) 8. Pepper Roni (Island Xtreme Stunts) 9. Vladek (Knights Kingdom 2) 10. Squidman (Space Police 3) 11. Fuchsia Ninja / First Spinjitzu Master (Ninjago) 12. Azari Firedancer (Elves) -

I actually mean this crown knight, but one of the others that are similar would be possible as well: -

Just an idea for all of them, I think this would be a solid list: 1. Gold Classic Spaceman (Classic Space) 2. Classic Knight (Classic Castle) 3. Lion King (Castle Lion Knights) 4. Octan Mechanic (Town) 5. Wolfpack Soldier (Castle Wolfpack) 6. Admiral Woodhouse / Captain Ironhook (Pirates) 7. Basil the Bat Lord (Fright Knights) 8. Cavalry General / Sheriff / Tribal Shaman (Western) 9. King Kahuka (Pirates) 10. Alpha Draconis (UFO) 11. Pippin Reed / Dr. Kilroy / Pharaoh Hotep / Achu (Adventurers) 12. Ogel (Alpha Team) -

It's from Adventurers, I believe the figure is Mike from the Dino Island subtheme. -

Latest news about Lego animal moulds
General Magma replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This lack of certain animals in the LEGO realm was odd to me even as a kid, now years later there's a lot more animals introduced but still a huge amount missing. It's still baffling that they wasted the opportunity to introduce them through 'Friends' by turning them into stylized versions, but those animals are now slowly coming into production. They should really have giraffes and elephants, next to maned lions, in the wildlife sets. The new Monkie Kid sets seem to offer decent modern versions of monkeys, in the form of minifigs, but those are more like anthropomorphic animals. Wonder when they'll make actual monkeys again.- 5,719 replies

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
General Magma replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The set is not going to be Bionicle, and it's something all you Bionicle fans have to come to grips with. It's just not going to happen. Maybe, just maybe, they'll release a special set for it on the side. But Bionicle has very little to do with the actual known LEGO system, and this is coming from someone who was a huge Bionicle fan back in the day, and who still has a special place for those times and characters. It's just, simply put, not going to be the case that LEGO will fill up this spot for an anniversary set celebrating their whole brand with a line that represents... very little of it, in essence. Sure, buildable figures, but LEGO has always been first and foremost about the bricks. They're not even doing regular castle, space and pirates themes these days, it's highly unreasonable to expect they'll churn out a BIONICLE set as their one 90th anniversary set. A little set on the side would be nice as a nod to them but that's about it. -

So Adventurers in 5th place... it's top 5, at least, but I was hoping it'd at least make it to the top 3. Ah well. Maybe they'll do a nod to it anyway, or perhaps one of the Ideas set based on Adventurers can renew hope in that regard for the theme's return. It was a joke folks, you may lay down the lecture books -

I didn't know spears and arrows were used to conduct peace treaties But yes, they could easily just do that, no problem. Thing is that they might still be treading on tightropes then what with the current political climate. -
Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
General Magma replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
They were in the top 5 on January 20th and it was neck to neck with not only trains but also pirates. Maybe, just maybe, Adventurers managed to race to the third spot and otherwise at least they know that it's still a highly favoured theme. Still holding out hope they'll give it the ultimate throwback set sometime. They did have all of the easter eggs in the mansion set, after all, and an actual Egyptian pyramid or Sphinx set would be the perfect place to have the cast of Adventurers modernized. -

If the comment sections are anything to go by, Adventurers actually seems like it's up there as a top contender. So many votes are going there while space/castle is spread out over different subthemes, so there is hope. -

Space has always been a prevalent theme. If anything, I think Adventurers deserves one, it's been at least a decade since anything resembling it was released and that was quite a rare event. Imagine a big Egyptian pyramid with an awesome interior; hallways, tombs, trap-filled exploration zones, with a line-up of those classic characters modernized, now that would be something truly special.
