  1. How many extra parts did you end up using? I like this a lot because its a mod that doesn't look a like a mod... if you get my drift.
  2. Bought me a ticket. Pretty excited
  3. Getting that "smooth" look is notoriously difficult, as the inks on custom decals bleed half the time ruining the decal. I usually end up destroying 5-6 decal sets when making each figure. I suppose its because I made this one for myself that I could afford the time to make the decal application as smooth as possible. Zepher, that's okay. Its always good to see someone else's work I am alright with the links. Haha yeah, it is very detailed. My initial thought on making custom figures was to make them as detailed and as possible but hopefully not too much that it is unLEGO-y. I personally feel that detail is critical to getting the character right.
  4. Badger, you should tell Will to stop with all the awesome customs! We'll be pretty broke by the time mold 5 or 6 gets finalised! I can't really say what the others have already said about the prototypes, and it is always very exciting to see what arms master Will creates next. The MGL and the U-clip are definitely my pick of the litter this time around. My gut feeling with the MG-42 is that it is about 90% perfect. It might benefit the balance and the look of the gun if the butt-end of the MG were a little more defined. A parting line between the back of the gun and the stock could do the trick. I saw a prototype BA Voight-Kampff machine on Damien's Flickr account. Any light on that accessory Badger? As beautiful as this current lineup of custom bricks are, I simply fell in with the VK machine! It seems that Brickarms is expanding to lines other than modern weapons, so it would very interesting to see a "Brickstuff" subtheme of Brickarms in the future. I presume that the scalpel and the syringe were a big hit with fans. I think that the market for non-lethal paraphernalia is an interesting alternative that could be explored in the future.
  5. Oh my, that is a BIG MOC! I wonder if they have room to store it once its finished?
  6. Haha yeah, I think I'll have the same problem too, gunships here in Australia retail for $200, so there's no way I can buy a ship for each new artwork! I have already found another Twi'lek painting on another gunship in the second episode of TCW. But the problem is that the gunship is in the background, and it is too blurry to see. I think I'll have to watch the Blu-ray to find out. It's a shame because she looks like a red one too! The green twi'lek was actually very hard to find (I didn't see it at all, until I read an article about gunship art on StarWars.com.) The whole stickersheet including the sketch took me about 10 hours to draw up on Adobe Illustrator. I am a pretty slow drawer. Unfortunately I won't be able to finish off any new stickers for the next 3 weeks because I have my end of year exams coming up. However once those are over I'll be free to do as many stickers as I want.
  7. If you want to have a look at my other clones please have a look at myBrickshelf folder. Most of the figures that I have made are there. The trick to getting it look like a TLC figure is to use as little paint as possible, and decals as much I can. This is also because LEGO uses ink on their minifigs.
  8. Gee that Crown Princess head sure is getting a good work out in 2009. It's popping up everywhere!
  9. Thanks KimT, please do. I'll be adding more and more gunship artwork over the next two months. So it'd be cool compiling the stickers in a neat link.
  10. Thank you for the comments I am going to have to do that. That is much better than having to buy a whole new gunship. The slopes are about 50 cents each aren't they? I suppose that was the main reason why I started this project. It'd be pretty awesome to see what other designs people come up with in the future. My rate of drawing is too slow! But however slow I am at drawing, I will try my best to draw up more nose-art as soon as possible. Also here is sketch and higher resolution image of the Green-Twi'lek for those who are interested. This is probably is the main advantage of using stickers over printed pieces.
  11. Thanks I am glad that you like him. Commander Bly is guarding my printer at the moment. I'll most likely be making a Commander Deviss to complement this guy next.
  12. Thisset, 6034 Monarch's Ghost started it all for me. My parents got it for me twice, and I lost the ghost twice. This was the set that introduced me to the modular potential of the mini-figure. From the sword and armour of the Knight, to his helmet's plume and finally the glow-in-the-dark shroud of the creepy ghost. I love this set to bits... I just might have to buy another one on bricklink. However Star Wars is what sustained and cemented my passion for LEGO. I was immediately hooked on the rebel helmets from the 1999 snowspeeder.
  13. Holy Cow! I knew that there was a reason to join Eurobricks today! Both Figs are absolutely lovely! I thought it impossible for TLC to best the unique figs that came in the Advent Calendar. These castle sets are a must buy! Could the new queen hairpiece signal a New Hoth Leia minifig?
  14. I suppose this tells a lot about myself. I love Clone Troopers. I spend much of my time drawing up decals for custom clone figures very much like this one. I believe this probably custom clone number 59 for me. Another Clone Commander that I can check off my to do list. This time around its Commander Bly. Actually I made this guy at the start of the year, but never got the time to photographing him - Commander Gree took too much energy out of me! As usual he is made mostly with decals, with the execption of the black line on the back of the helmet which was carefully painted. The yellow bits on the helmet are also also painted with acrylics. I used a semi-gloss to match the LEGO plastic look. I am afraid to that the fantastic macro-binoculars are obviously not mine :? I bought these from the awesome Arealight. I was very fortunate that he made these avaliable aroundt the time I designed Commander Bly. Photo Montage Oh for those wondering why I chose a darker brown and yellow colour combination for my Bly. was that the movie tan brown colour was too close to the "Star Corps" Yellow LEGO used. So I exaggerated the difference a little. The brown is very similar to TLC's original brown. I hope you like him and thanks for checking him out.
  15. Hydraulic wings! I am very impressed and am now considering getting this set purely because of this funciton. I am just curious as to know why are there sand green parts on the bottom of the V-19. Is it visible when the model is completed? I am also pleased to see TLC giving us a printed cockpit computer this time around.
  16. EDIT BY KIMT: I've uploaded all posted pics here and I intend to keep doing so. UPDATE!! 05/09/09 NEW WIP, please click page five for the link, thanks! -Rayman From my FBTB post As you may have noticed in the upcoming Clone Wars animation the Republic Gunship nose sport WWII-esque bomber art, which is very cool as it showcases another form of the growing indiviuality of the Clones under the command of Jedi. However I never knew that they could paint so well. :) This is my first non-minifg MOC, and although it is not what I usually do I enjoyed drawing this, and I do plan on making more gunship art as they appear in the TV series. The Aurek-Besh simply says Lucky Lekku 2 as I couldn't find out what this particular gunship was called. I'll change it when I find out. Otherwise she'll bear this name for now. The artwork is based on this gunship. I tried to caprture the style that LEGO used for their stickers so I was very liberal with the lineart making sure to retain weight variation throughout. Here is the FULL STICKER SHEET. Those with sharp eyes may have noticed that I have changed the colours on the Blue Twi'lek. The original Twi'lek wore a grey coloured clone suit which bothered me so I altered the colours on my version so that it is more true to Clone Trooper standards. The line weight and variations should correspond exactly with TLC's stickers. So if you are looking for some replacement stickers these should be as good as scan of the originals. I have also improved the contrast on the monkey lizard so that the colour of his beak stands out better against the outline. Other than that there are no changes. So if you are looking for some replacement stickers these should be as good as scan of the originals. Please feel free to use these in anyway you wish, and give credit where appropriate-- I don't mind if you don't :). Included are also a set of blank gunship nose stickers so that you too can design your own gunship art. WWII and Star Wars rock! 8)
  17. Hi I am Rayman, and I am pleased to meet you all. Some of you may know me as a regular poster on FBTBforums.net or may have seen some of my custom minifigs on Brickshelf. I am glad to have joined the Eurobricks community as it appears that you guys and gals always seem so astute with finding out the latest news about LEGO. Looking forward to my time on the boards. -Rayman
