That mech is pretty darn sweet. I'd love to see ya flesh it out a bit more.

I like the first one better as well (the FRU). It has a much cleaner look to it. What I like least about the MRU is the color blocking. It's just a bit too messy looking for my taste. Another thing I don't like is the exposed seats. If you could find a nice way to cover them up, I think it would add a lot to the build.

What a unique idea! I especially like some of the details on the winter scene, such as the snowmobile and trailer. As someone who has (and loves) a cottage, you've definitely got my support.

MOC: Galactic Marines - "Into the Enemy Teritory"
DarthNick replied to timura's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I don't think you have enough Galactic Marines. Nice build, some simple but good landscaping here. -
I'm studying to be a Mechanical Engineer, like many others here.

1. You're probably right, it's most likely my poor memory throwing me off. 2. That's always true. Though I feel with world class teams like these, no team should 'fall apart' when scored on. 3. Ya, the more I think about it, maybe they were... 4. LOL, well I guess that was a good move on Italy's part then.

Agreed on Balotelli... I still don't get what people see in him. Pirlo on the other hand is amazing to watch. As for how Germany played, I think you're giving them a little too much credit. The overall possession was at like 54% Germany, 46% Italy, so I don't see how they dominated. Yes, they did have more shots than Italy, but that was actually part of the teams plan. I remember hearing the commentators say that Italy wouldn't mind giving up opportunities for German counter attacks, as long on they played strong offensively (which they did more at the beginning, especially in terms of domination at midfield). Towards the end of the game, Germany started playing more like I expected them too, but by that time it was just too late. Either way I'm super stoked for Sunday!

Really nice. Very effective sticker usage. And of course, the garage door panels are sweet.

So simple, but so awesome. Gives me some great ideas for building with the planets...

Again, agreed here. For a little while during the game, I had thought that there was a chance I'd have both my teams in the final (I'm 1/2 Italian, 1/2 Portuguese), but alas things just didn't work out yesterday. Hopefully things will go better today. Though I do think Germany is a better team right now, our record against them is good, so there's at least that.

That'd be a really nice change of pace. They did do Bruce Wayne in 'civies' in the Batcave, so I'm definitely hoping to see some more figs like that. YES YES YES

What kind of wheels and tires are we talking about here? Unfortunately Sherway has gotten none of the things mentioned here so far...

Looks like a fun little build. Nice presentation as well!

Agreed. Love all the contest's going on (I'm currently planning on entering 8 different ones over the summer)... Can't wait to get building!

We definitely did... but don't worry, by the time Brickfete rolls around, we'll be roaring to go! Not too mention we all have that post-Brickworld-build-fever...

Don't forget about how he was top five for Best Vignette and Best Mechanical! And a massive congrats to everyone who contributed! It was awesome to see it all (in person) come together!

Thanks for the quick reply guys! 88high: I definitely don't want something as complicated at the stewart platform. Your second suggestion is more along the lines of what I was thinking, but not quite. I do understand your explanation though, and now that I see it, that may be something I might go for. arjanofski:I think you know exactly what I'm going for, as I had looked at the large LEGO turntable already (actually I stumbled upon this topic, saw the rodeo model, and realized that the turntable would be the best solution). Unfortunately I don't own that piece, and I don't think it's in production anymore (correct me if I'm wrong). You're also probably right that I should tell you what I want to use it for. I want to build a kind of launch platform for Starfighters, where you can rotate and tilt the Starfighter into an appropriate 'launch' position. Though I don't really want a tilt angle of more than maybe 30 degrees. I'm thinking my best option is maybe have the rotation controlled at the front and the tilt controlled just under the platform. Though I've been trying to build that, since I realized my other was extremely difficult, and I can't even figure that one out. My problem is coming up with a sturdy (and aesthetically pleasing) way of controlling the tilt of the platform. I've trying to figure out a way to make a tilt mechanism like this, with the axis of rotation at the middle (if that even makes sense): Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks again - Nick

Hi guys, I'm working on a model that I was hoping to incorporate some (manual) functions into. Basically what I want to do is have a rotating and tilting platform that can be controlled at a distance from the platform itself. I whipped up a (very) quick sketch on my PS Vita to help you guys see what I mean: Gear 1 would ideally control the rotation of the platform and Gear 2 would control the tilt. The red area would be where all the technic bits go. The grey would be the platform. The green area would be a 32x32 baseplate, and I'd like to have the platform right in the middle, and the gears at the front of the baseplate. I'll admit I'm pretty to be asking for help, since I'm studying to be a Mechanical engineer. But I figure what better way to learn than to ask the experts. Thanks - Nick

Thanks a million! There really are. I always find FBTB contests bring out the best in builders. Thanks!

Hey people, the poll is live, so be sure to vote for your favourite entries! ...Which hopefully includes mine. :) http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7800

Really nice stuff here! Makes me want to dig out that old base, and use it in a build!

Thanks folks! I definitely looked into working in a bit more gold, but couldn't find any suitable spots/pieces. :( And thanks a bunch! Thanks! Funny, I thought about having it transform, but that seemed a little too silly (not to mention how I would fail at that)! And LOL

Thanks everyone! Thanks, and don't say that! You have just as good a chance as me! It's actually dark red with pearl gold highlights. And thanks!
