I see your point, but it's still on the Sci-fi side of things, from Lego's perspective. Most of the sets are spaceships of some sort. I won't just reject a theme out of hand because it's different. I actually love the premise of Nexo Knights, I just wish it was a little less childish. Then again, who am I kidding? Lego is a children's toy. This thread is partially a place for us to voice our frustrations. Please don't yell at someone just because their own personal definitions differ from yours. That's your opinion, and I respect it. Just please don't insist that it is 100% correct for everyone.

Well, it's not like you can sort everything into three neat piles labeled 'Fantasy,' 'Sci-Fi,' and 'Science Fantasy.' There is a broad spectrum, as with everything. There is "Pure Fantasy," which is basically a fairy tale, like LotR. There's also "Hard Fantasy," sharply defined magic with a systematic, almost science like operation. (like Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere) Then it goes through a whole range of blends of science and magic, until you reach mostly Sci-Fi, like Star Wars. There's no clear definitions. I agree, the most annoying thin about the theme is the childish tone. Not a bit of seriousness in sight.

Hm, tough question. I'd probably say a live song by U2. City of Blinding Lights, Sweetest Thing, Where the Streets Have No Name...seriously, there are too many answers to this question.

It's worth getting Legolas, his new face is perfect, much better than the previous two. You can skip Gimli and Gollum though. I myself bought three copies of each of them, to help show that there is indeed demand for more LotR dimensions, in the hopes that they will gives us some new characters. Yes, I want them that badly.

Quite splendid Nuju, as always. Your amazing work makes up for the disappointment that is Nexo Knights. I love the use of the purple foliage.

I which case lego would end up juniorizing it so that kids could play with it. Then, they would decide that they could make a TV show based on it, and decide that to make it more 'awesome,' they should add a bunch of sci-fi and other ridiculous stuff. End result: Nexo Knights.

I don't think they would have to be that much more expensive, maybe 5 dollars per set. My reasoning behind this is that by making a theme target exclusively at adults, Lego would effectively be excluding 95% of their buyer base. With fewer sets in production, they would have to do something to offset the cost of printing new minifigures, etc. I just know that if Lego released an uber-detailed, medieval style set every year, like Medieval Market Village or Kingdoms Joust, I would be happy.
-
Exactly. The Dimensions packs only appeal to LotR minifigure collectors.
-
Yep. With Middle Earth canceled, and Nexo Knights in full swing, Lego castle has entered a dark age. I don't foresee us getting much more than a couple scattered dimensions packs in the future. Seriously though, I wonder if Lego has considered making specialized 'adult' themes, limited sets target at AFOLs. They would be made in small production runs, and be sold exclusively online. They could make use of more advanced construction techniques, and provide detailed minifigures. They of course, would be more expensive than regular sets, and probably have very few, if any, new molds. I think though, most of us would be willing to purchase that kind of thing. You don't say.

I didn't think it was even possible for my opinion of Nexo knights to sink any lower than it already was. I guess I was wrong... A Grecco-Roman would theme would be cool, playing off of the popularity of Percy Jackson. In that same line, there seems to in general be a renewed interest in classic Egyptian, Greek, and Nordic myths. That being said, I would love a Gothic fantasy theme.

Very nice. I love how you used the robot arm. The chariot play function actually looks pretty fun.

Yes, because it's TOTALLY possible that 11 forgot to wear a bowtie one day. But the texture printed on the fig screams 'tweed!' Must be something that happened during the minifigurization process.

Okay, I need to get my own TARDIS, so I can jump to December 1 and grab this set! A note about the minifigs: I believe the 11th doctor's costume is supposed to be this one not the one you linked with the image. In light of this, the minifigure is supremely accurate. Also, I kinda wish the 12th doctor's costume included the bowtie, so we could use it for Matt Smith. Oh well. It still looks awesome.

Yeah, I gave up on the prospect of getting more full-sized sets long ago. I'm honestly amazed that we got the Dimensions packs. I thought Lego had just completely given up on Middle Earth.

Depends on which characters. If it filled up the remaining gaps (Faramir, Eowyn, Witch-King, Bolg, Sauron, Gondor Soldier, and maybe Denethor, Elendil & Isildur) then yes, it would suffice for me. @x105Black: I guess he does have to ask, as not everyone shares your point of view.

It's great to see the Glatorian armor piece showing up again. The new molds also look great, and thoroughly Bionicle. Can't wait to get better images.

Please don't tell me you are going Nexo Knights on us. It sounds interesting. I'm glad that you are attempting another wave. I loved the first three. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. It sounds like it will be a little more steampunk than that awful new theme that Lego thinks is Castle.

How dare you get our hopes up like that!

If only. Perhaps this would be a good starting point? http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98233 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100353 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=105645

Well, we all want to believe that there will be another wave. Doesn't mean it will happen. Excellent. Those claws and tail should come in handy, at the very least.
-
Yeah, I know it will never happen. I was just wishing out loud. I'm still not sure if lego seriously would think castle fans would be satisfied with with Nexo Knights. I mean, with Ninjago, they at least release the occasional piece of authentic Japanese architecture. With this theme, well, the less said, the better. These past 2 years have just been one letdown after another for us. First, LotR is canceled, then we get a Disney-fied Elves theme, and a Chima-fied Castle theme. I want a genuine fantasy theme, something like Fantasy Era again. Would that be too much to ask? I guess so.

*reads thread* *frowns* So basically, anything but Nexo Knights? Agreed. Edit: You know what would be really great? A theme based on Magic: The Gathering. This would include high quality minifigures, both grunts and named characters, and span a variety of settings, from ancient Greek (Theros) to medieval China and Mongolia (Tarkir) to Renaissance Europe (Innistrad).
