Me.

Yup. What happened this time?

Aye Cap'n! Com'on Sandy! Ranged DRAGOOOOOON!

Lots of needy kids buying 100$+ sets aimed at collector's & adult builders? No buyers = no 'scalpers'. Again, they are only charging prices buyers are willing to pay. If anything, blame the collectors for facilitating the high prices. Yup, most def. Whatevs! THIS.IS.LEGO!

Thanks x2!

Context. It's all about context. Something it seems you don't have a grasp of in this situation, unless you are just a poor written communicator. The comparisons you made are completely out of context in this situation, but the overall statement that we, as individual, are responsible for ourselves is true. I think it's funny you resorted to those examples and sarcasm to try to paint Lego resellers (or greedy, evil scalpers) as some sort of ruthless criminal enterprise that is threatening the very fabric of the Lego hobby.
-
BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But, yeah, pretty much. You are responsible for yourself, no matter what anyone else does. What a unique and utter foreign concept! (not you fred) That's pretty much what we are doing here: advocating for people to be responsible for their decisions and not blaming others. Novel, really.
-
And there you have it folks! Thanks for the clarification. Follow-up question - no matter what advanced class you pick, can you always use the weapons suitable for your base class?
-
And having something doesn't make you greedy. You can be poor and still be greedy. I see a lot of people in this thread without the set they want who seem just as greedy as they claim the resellers are. Lots of 'mine, mine, mine, gimme, gimme' without any REAL effort going into getting what they want. If you want it, go work for it, and get it!
-
That's what I believe too. Just double checking with Zeph/Sandy so I can get a proper plan in place before I hit level 40. Gotta love the special 3/4 edition Zoot's Plaything (that I have had since the end of quest 53!).
-
Where are the rules for a Zoot's Plaything? Can one be made into a weapon type that is not compatible with the PC's base class? For instance, Hoke started as a knight and will most likely progress into a Dragoon, Guardian Knight, and Paragon. Right now, as a Mystic Knight, he can use mage and knight weapons, so if his Zoot's Plaything turns into a Broomstick, but can he still use it as a Broomstick whenever he is not a Mystic Knight?

Is there only 1 store the supply is going through? No. During the shelf life of a set (which I think is from 2-3 years for non-limited runs), you can go to just about any store with Lego or order it online. This artificial rise argument is just weak really. Again (and again), quit being mad at the people that have and make it happen. Be one of them. If you want the set, GO GET IT. You have 2-3 years to get just about ANY set you want OR you could just look the instructions up online to build it.
-
I guess you haven't been reading what I typed. YOU had just as much opportunity as THAT GUY to get the sets. He showed up, and got what he wanted. Unless he is in some super secret access to these sets before anyone else does, then everyone gets the same chance. Did he buy all of them? If not, then the next guy that bought 2 or 3, can you be mad at him too? What about the guy that bought the last one? How bad is he? Like I said before, quit whining and making excuses and get the sets you want. Take some responsibility for your own action, or in this case, inaction. How's that for adult thinking? I don't get it. How EXACTLY does it matter if I buy 10 sets of the Haunted House the day it was released vs the last 10 on the shelf? It's still 10 no matter how you look at it. There will always be the first and the last, and they all come from the same supply. Lego is intentionally created a collectible and a 'run' on their products with limit release sets. This happens to ANYTHING people perceive as collectible. That's the nature of the beast.
-
Exactly. I remember a few years back people were paying ridiculous prices for SW Kashyyyk Troopers. Now we have a battle pack with them!
-
This is pretty hilarious. Other than limited run sets (which EVERYONE has the same window of opportunity to buy, aside from exclusives, which, by their very name, are supposed to be exclusive), I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt anyone or a group of people have enough buying power to purchase "heaps of a new set" so that prices are "artificially" inflated.
-
Well, not YOU particularly, just those who actually are upset.
-
I change Hoke's avatar whenever he changes classes or gets an equipment upgrade: And everyday/plain-clothes/hanging out in Heroica Hall Hoke:
-
The resellers/collectors/hobbyists/kids ALL had the same opportunity to buy, correct? Don't be mad at other people for putting in extra effort to get what they want.
-
Then let the bubble pop! The prices will go down if NO ONE buys! If the prices were low enough that ANYONE would buy, THEN NO SETS WOULD BE LEFT!!! Then who would you blame?
-
And if a buyer buys it at 100$, then it's the buyer's fault. That's how this stuff works. If sellers price it at 100$, and it doesn't sell, then they will eventually lower their prices to a point where a buyer will agree to it. And again, just look up the instructions online and build the set! I don't see any specialty parts in that build.
-
Again, blame the buyers. Sellers sell at the highest price buyers are willing to pay.
-
Build it! Oh wait, you're supposed to do that with Lego?!?! http://lego.brickins...ory_Curiosity_R It is pretty awesome. Maybe I can buy a new cushion for my throne with all the bazillions of dollars I am making for buying up all the North American stock of rare Lego sets and reselling them for kazillions!!!!
-
The highest price at which a buyer is willing to commit. Yes. It would dumb from a selling standpoint to do anything else. You know for a fact every time you went to buy a set you couldn't get that it was all resellers? Haha. What a load of manure! Less fortunate? Again, THESE ARE TOYS! If you are 'less fortunate' you need to spend your time worrying about other things than toys. How on earth do you know that I am denying anyone anything? As for money, I've worked hard to make it work for me, and I didn't get it by picking it off the money tree. I worked for it, and I earned it. Sitting there feeling sorry for yourself and being 'less fortunate' isn't going to do it. Generating money to have money is NOT despicable; it's smart! Quit being a sorry-for-yourself-have-not and become a have. It's work and it's fun. It's another aspect of this hobby that I enjoy. And, as said early, these sets have a shelf life of at least a couple of years. If you can't scrounge together enough money to get the sets you want in 2-3 years, then it's YOUR fault and yours alone. Be smart with your money and get what you want. It only spends once, and you wind up with what you REALLY want even if it it's not what you say you want (ie buying other toys, going to the movies, going out to eat, etc etc).
-
Sounds like a whole lot of "Boo-hoo-hoo" to me. Get a job, get some money and buy what you want! I just sold a PotC Black Pearl in a damaged box for 200$+ that I bought for 30$. Why am I the bad guy for someone willing to pay me? THESE ARE TOYS! They are not a necessity to live a complete life. Don't be mad or upset at people who are willing to buy/sell at a higher rate/price than you are.
