The Renegade Runner, commanded by Captain Ironhook, is one of the three ships released in the second LEGO Pirates line (the others being the Skulls Eye Schooner and the Imperial Flagship). Although reasonably small, the Renegade Runner is feared for her incredible speed and fearsome crew... Set name: Renegade Runner Theme: Pirates Subtheme: Pirates Set number: 6268 Number of pieces: 171 Minifigs: 4 Released: 1993 (discontinued) Release price: 40 USD Current price: 40 - 100 on Bricklink and eBay, 189 for MINT (Bricklink) Brickshelf Peeron Bricklink Box The front of the box. With thanks to Brickset and Whitefang. This is how a 6268 MISB set looks like . With thanks to ACPin for this one and the next. As usual the alternative building options can be found on the back of the box. Instructions The frontpage of the instructions sheet, showing us another picture of the ship. The building is done in small steps, smaller then the steps of the SES in any case. Of course it is the question this is a positive point or not (probably not for adults, maybe for young kids). And the back: again the ship, this time with a pirate that goes on land to burry the treasure. Minifigs 4 Minifigs, that is just enough for a ship and set of this size. One imperial would have been nice though. Their backs...no prints as this, in those days, wasn't common yet. I suggest to build a neutral sailor or soldier with this torso and hat, if you do not own any soldiers. This way you have two sides. Again: I really mis an Imperial in this set, especcialy since a lot of smaller sets have one. Parts The sails. Sorry they are a bit dirty, I still have to wash them... Good thing they are made of such high quality . As you can see, there are many weapons included with this set, which is no doubt a positive point! Two of the three muskets are still mounted like they are mounted on the ship. You also get two pistols and four cutlasses and of course the cannon-without-wheels (I like the brown wheels ). The compass that is included really works. Further you also receive a treasure chest with gold, a map to guide you to that treasure, a dragon plume and two pirate flags: a large one and a small one. I give this set a 10/10 on the parts section, since I think you really have many items for your four pirates. Overview The entire ship: the blue and red colors are nice if used seperatly but I have my doubts if they are combined like in the Renegade Runner! A peak inside. You can clearly see how the cannon is installed and where they 'hide' their treasure. There is also a wooden ladder to the command bridge, that hasn't got a steering wheel! That is the biggest flaw I can find for now. It really wouldn't have added to the production cost to include a standard steering wheel... Luckily one can easily add a tiller himself on this ship! There is no cabin on this boat, underneath the grey plates the Captain stands on, there is nothing but empty space. A pic that shows the bow and front of the ship. The Ratings: Price: 9/10 (The cheapest LEGO Pirates ship ever sold. Because of the many parts you get I also find it a fair price.) Design: 7/10 (It REALLY lacks a steering wheel...and the 'cabin' could at least contain something like the treasure or barrel.) Minifigs and parts: 9/10 (I give the maxium rating to the parts included, but the minifigs-rating could be a bit better since no Imperial soldier or guard are included, also no animals in this set!) Playability: 8/10 (This set really needs another pirates set, preferrably one with soldiers, to play decently with. If one doesn't have other pirate sets, try making the sailer/soldier I showed you in the minifigure section.) Overall/conclusion: 8.25/10 (I am happy I purchased this set when I was young, and I remember I used to have a lot of fun playing with it as the 'sidekick' of the larger ships! Of course this midget is nothing in comparison to the BSB or SES, but what do you expect for this price? You can nearly have three of these for the price of one of the above! I can only say one more thing if you are planning of buying this set: watch the price carefully and ENJOY!) And a little teaser... Classic Pirates is saving up for a new server...

Sabre Island... The Imperial Soldiers have received new orders from Governor Broadside: build a fortified outpost near the coasts of Legoland, to detect any Pirate activity and provide a first defense against them ! Set name: Sabre Island Theme: Pirates Subtheme: Imperial Soldiers Set number: 6265 Number of pieces: 92 Minifigs: 3 Released: 1990 (discontinued) Release price: 15,50 USD Current price: 24-40 USD on ebay and Bricklink; up to 130 USD for MINT Peeron Bricklink My Brickshelf pics The front of the box From Brickshelf, with thanks to Whitefang. Instructions sheet: front pic The Dutch version. Instructions sheet: back pic A picture of the set A very complete set, including the island with a tower and a cannon, a sloop and 3 Imperial Soldiers minifigs. First, the minifigs that come with the set, and a little something about the best parts Frontal view. 3 Minifigs are included with Sabre Island, 2 Imperial Soldiers and an Imperial Officer. You can also see the bulk of their weapons (a total of 3 cutlasses, 2 muskets and a pistol). Other valuable items are the cannon, the flags and the sloop (the sloop is not that expensive, but a must have for your Pirates playset). Peeron The cannon post and the front of the fort. Let the pirate-scum come ! A look inside the tower Nothing special to see in the tower itself, but we have a better look on how the outpost was build.. Backview of the tower You can place the minifigs and their equipment into the fortress through the back. This would be the easiest way since it is completely open. The sloop The patrol sloop, with an Imperial Soldier that guards the perimeters of Sabre Island. My summary: Price: 8/10 (I think it was a fair price when it got released in 1990. Not that extremely cheap for a 92 piece set, but still fair due to the expensive parts included like the cannon and the 3 imperial soldiers.) Design: 8/10 (The tower and the island are not that large, but they form a nice addition to the larger Pirate/Imperial soldiers sets.) Minifigs and parts: 9/10 (3 Imperial soldiers are a lot for this cheap and small set, I don't give it a 10 though, because Sabre Island lacks a pirate minifig.) Playability: 7/10 (We really could have used at least one pirate, just to have some "good" and some "bad" guys.) Overall: 8/10 (A good and very popular set. I would never sell mine, it is just too much a "classic" for that !)

The Imperial Flagship of the imperial guards: commanded by the governor (or admiral) himself ! The "mighty" flagship is the backbone of the imperial fleet, leading the attacks against the evil, wicked pirates. Set name: Imperial Flagship Theme: Pirates Subtheme: Imperial Guards Set number: 6271 Number of pieces: 306 Minifigs:4 Released: 1992 (discontinued) Release price: 50 USD Current price: 75-100 USD on ebay and Bricklink; up to 350 USD for MINT Bricklink My Brickshelf pics The front of the box This picture comes directly from Bricklink, since I only have a damaged one . Instructions sheet: front pic This would be the Dutch version. Instructions sheet: inside look You can clearly see it is on a step-by-step basis, just as it should be ! Nothing too advanced or difficult to find. Notice the nice pic of the rudder. Instructions sheet: back pic On the upper right you see an optional build: a nice Sloop O'War ! (the instructions for this are NOT included) Some important (and expensive) parts 2 Guns, 3 cutlasses, 2 muskets and a pistol: enough weapons, not plenty though. The compass really works! if you have one, keep it on you and you will always know the way up North . The treasure (8 coins) is a must for a ship like this one. The steering wheel is nice, and last but not least: you get a shako, an officers bicorne hat, a backpack and blue epaulettes for your little soldier: worth well over 6 USD on Bricklink if bought separately! Additional parts: one blue and yellow epaulette ! Inventory list The minifigs Four minifigs are included with this set. The rare imperial governor included. You also get one imperial guard, one imperial guard officer and one lower ranking sailor. The sailor can be used as a pirate too, TLC must have done this to improve playability, especcialy if you don't have any other sets. Personally, I would have preferred an additional imperial guard, or at least another soldier instead of the second officer (the first one being the admiral ), but that is a matter of opinion. The sails Whats not to like about these sails... You can use them on almost any homebuild ships and/or other MOCs. I find them better looking than the sails of the imperial soldiers (the bluecoats, that is). A look inside You can see the two guns, there are 12 grey cannonballs included, so you have some ammunition to bombard your wife/little sister/anyone annoying you: that is if you have the non-US version. As most of us know, the US version has non-shooting guns, the other ones can shoot. An overview This is one side of the ship. If you move the steering wheel, you can actually change the direction of the rudder, too bad the flagship doesnt float... The other side Some of you may notice a little parrot sitting near the admiral, that damned bird has landed there just when I took this picture. It is not included in the set. One thing I find missing is a real figurehead: a yellow torso would have done nice. My summary: Price:9/10 The retail price was acceptable, and even now I think its worth the price you would pay on eBay or Bricklink. It still is one of the cheapest pirate/soldiers ships available. Design: 8/10 It looks pretty good knowing it has only 300 pieces. The imperial flagship is a descent medium-sized ship: if you want to go larger, I suggest you buy the Skulls Eye Schooner or the Black Seas Barracuda. There are plenty of smaller sets and boats available too. Minifigs and parts: 9/10 Who wouldnt want to have an imperial governor and some of his soldiers? As said, I would have liked one more crewman, but we can't have it all! There are plenty of good parts included (see the parts pic). The guns are removable and have the standard brown wheels. Playability: 7/10 Too few minifigs to have a real battle between soldiers and pirates, but that can be solved easily by buying another pirate set. And you can have hours of fun navigating the ship through the islands and oceans if you have some imagination! Overall: 8,3/10 A great set. Every pirate and soldier fan must have one of these !

You must make brickbuild cannons to have smaller guns, the LEGO cannons are way oversized, this is common knowledge.

I REALLY like the weapons that are included! Sadly, I do doubt as well the quality would be high...

I think 89,99 Euro, the S@H price in Belgium, is the lowest I've seen as well so far.
