    My experience was that the original Mindstorms RIS set remained at the same price although it was discounted once in awhile by Amazon storefronts. Yeah, they keep going up in price wig each generation and the parts count always seems to keep dropping as well ... Yet we all dig into those deep pockets of ours to supplement our fun habits. My EV3 is ordered. Now it will be torture until Fall.
