12V was the worst system for children by far. PU is the best of all of them with all it's facilities and possibilities. Why does it "suck"?

Strange, they are marked " Temporarily out of stock"

Coding Powered Up motors for Variable Speed control
Lok24 replied to 2_ft_Builders's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You don' need a additional project. You have two sliders for two trains in one(!) project . What you have to duplicate is just the two sequences (drive/display and brake) in the same project on the surface. As @idlemarvel wrote you have to see both(!) hubs connected on the "BT"-screen -

Coding Powered Up motors for Variable Speed control
Lok24 replied to 2_ft_Builders's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi, in a first approach the is no sequence , because for this application there is a complete control block Starting the Powered Up app you have the choice between "Play" and "Create" (in English, upper right) With "Play" you can choose a certain set. But there is no predefined program for your requirements So you can select "create", add a new project, name it and then choose "controller". Add two slider- "widgets". Could look like this. Note the numbers. http://www.werner-falkenbach.de/bricks/PoweredUp-Sliders.jpg And the program: http://www.werner-falkenbach.de/bricks/PoweredUp-Loop.jpg Refers to "HUB1", "Port A" and slider no "1" So you'll need this twice with different hubs, ports , slider. There is also a list of all blocks with explanations on the LEGO site. -

Why? What you need is a controller with two sliders. Here is what I answered yesterday in another thread. Use "controller", add two sliders, add two blocks to read the sliders and sent the values to the specific ports and hub. -
Yes, that's possible. Starting the Powered Up app you have the choice between "Play" and "Create" (in English, upper right) With "Play" you can choose a certain set. But there is no predefined program for "Steering a car" So you can select "create", add a new project, name it and then choose "controller". With the left you icon can define your elements and than code what they should do. (you could try the black one as well, perhaps it works for you)

There is nothing difficult at all. Most Powered Up components work together, and of course the 88012 can be used with the app. Look at my five years old video here: And of course the 88010 works, look here; the example shows the advantage of a regulated motor, without any gears. The problem still is: what do you wan to do, what are you doing? How do you use the 88012 with the app? Does it connect to the app? I thought you wanted to use pybricks?

There a two sets containing it, and today you just use a motor -

Sure, this is rather unsuitable for robotics -

Fine! That all works with Arduino, Powered Up App, Pybricks, BrickController 2 , CONTROL+ App and so on. You should order some sensor for robotics ;-) Almost every PU motor is also a rotation sensor. (except M, not sold any more, and train) -

Really? That would be a very bad decision by TLG. Where does this info come from? -

It would be much easier to exactly name the hub and the motor and the software you want to use. Then someone could answer your question. It is not possibly to answer these questions from theory. You should start with the pybricks robots, there you can be sure that they work. -

Hi, You mix up several things ;-) In my opinion, without guarantee: Lego has three numbers: set number, design ID, element ID Additionally there are privat web sites like BrickOwl, BrickLink, BrickSet and others. Each of them has its own numbers. Example: 88012 : the lego set (!) contain exactly one part, the hub And on brickowl you find LEGO Hub, Powered Up, 4-Port (Clip Opening) (22127 / 82484) and LEGO Hub, Powered Up, 4-Port (Screw Opening) (85824) So these are three different items. On Brickset you find lots of additional different numbers, on Bricklink as well. So: no, these are not the same parts. But they do the same. But: the medium angular motor was included in a mindstorms set and the SPIKE Set. So they might have different internal IDs an behave different with specific software. But as Pybricks lists both they will work. You should - choose a hub (SPIKE,technic, technic Move) - choose motors and sensors - look at the pybricks list But this is different form the idea of using an Arduino? -

This is complete nonsense I fear. 1.) There are no Control+ Components 2.) Most PU components are much older then SPIKE - how should they be designed for SPIKE? 3.) "they won’t be detected by the SPIKE app." is exactly the opposite of the above. Each element has a unique id, here a some of them: 1: "Wedo 2.0 DC Motor", 2: "Train DC Motor", 38: "BOOST Interactive Motor", 46: "Technic Large Motor", 47: "Technic Extra Large Motor", 48: "SPIKE Medium Angular Motor", 49: "SPIKE Large Angular Motor", 75: "Technic Medium Angular Motor", 76: "Technic Large Angular Motor", So: If the SPIKE Software (which means the sum of firmware and your application) does not recognize the "46" then the "Technic Large Motor" won't work with the Spike Hub. But: Using another software it could work. So item 3.) just confuses cause and effect No. You have to check in every single case/combination. There is no "pybricks works", there are functions that do not work with every hub. And: not all hubs are supported. No, cause as you see: there is no differentiation between SPIKE, technic and System. There are only "motors" and "Sensors". If they work depends on software. The SPIKE Matrix light (released 2021) works with the City Hub (2018) as well as the Wedo 2.0 Tilt Sensor (2016) It's only useful if you use one of the special features: 6 Ports / battery pack / beeper / 5x5 Matrix / button And be aware that a second battery is needed -

Mindstorms EV3 / NXT is different (old) And again: Control+ is the name of the just one App. And all others use the same plugs and protocol. It's not the idea that hubs communicate with each other. (And .... there is no "control+ hub") -

Sure, that is why I mentioned the "Technic Hub" 88012, for the new one the Powered up App (June 2023) is not (yet?) working, I think. Name seems to be "Technic Move", number 88019 ist definitely wrong, cause this is a power supply. Find more infos and program here: https://github.com/DanieleBenedettelli/TechnicMoveHub Perhaps you ask here in the thread "pybricks Q & A"? -

Lok24 replied to pekka111's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nope.Naming is quite difficult. Here are the other hubs: SetNo Shop-Name internal name Element ID Design ID 88006 Move Hub LPF2 HUB MOTOR 6X16X4 NO. 1 6283413 26910 88009 Hub HUB NO. 4 6262033 28738 88012 technic Hub HUB, NO. 2 6142536 22127 As you see: 88012 is a set(!) with exactly one(!) piece, the "technic hub". But shop names are different in different countries. I didn't find the new one from 42176 anywhere except in Bricklink, see my links in the previous post. Means: perhaps it has no "official" name yet. -

Yes, like the City Hub or the Move Hub and the SPIKE Hubs (or the last Mindstorms) It is called "Technic Hub", "Move Hub" is different No, it is not. You can use it with the powered Up-App (there you can create programs with icons and also a GUI), always needs a smart devive to contol) or you can use pybricks (load program resident into hub). Maybe more ...... There is no Technic Hub inside, but some kind of "Car Hub" with steering and light. Here they are: "Car Hub" with 3 integrated Motors Technic hub with 4 ports (sensors or motors) Move Hub with two integrated motors and 2 Ports (sensors or motors) My answers concern to the Technic Hub. -

I see, something like a robot vacuum cleaner Therefore I think you need much more than LEGO (as you assumed already) I think you need - the mechanical base to move and act - some microcontroller on it to control the base and mange different sensors (i.e a camera) - some fixed remote instance to show the actions and improve them, this should be connected to the robot via BT od WiFi Here is a shop that offers all you need: https://eckstein-shop.de/?lang=eng -

If you could show on or two pictures or videos from, what would be an interesting idea it would be much easier to support. Here are three examples for automated MOcs, but no "robots": https://zusammengebaut.com/lego-mindstorms-moc-game-of-thrones-lebt-auf-the-red-keep-23264/ So show us some examples, please.
