  1. My grandfather had similar experiences with his two cats. They'd always curl up on his arms whenever he typed.
  2. OOC: You forgot to add the fifty gold to Sorrow and Karie's inventory. Also, Karie should be lucky, and down a Grand Tonic and a Nostrum.
  3. In terms of a character not in Heroica? Oh jeez, there's a lot... Pinkie Pie surprisingly ranks high for how thought out her character is. A character who's life literally involves making people happy, despite potentially suffering from depression. Demona from Gargoyles is another favourite. Edmund Blackadder's another favourite. We could be here all day if keep talking, honestly. Storytelling and analysis is my thing.
  4. Son of a- yes, it probably would've been amazing, looking back.
  5. The whole Graveyard arc was going to end a lot differently with the party acting as bouncers at Aldus and Violet's wedding. A lot of my quests go through some sort of revision, 94 probably went through the most. It was originally going to have a Dullahan in it because Dullahan's are freaking amazing and we don't have enough fae type enemies.
  6. Nope. None what so ever, at least to my knowledge.
  7. QM Note: I believe that was a mistake during calculations. I'll fix his health, give me a second. "If it helps you, crab, this man sells his goods to the highest bidder, even if it's the gangs of Eubric. He indirectly hurts the innocent. Do you still wish to value his life?" "And here you are trying to kill me! Heroes, get this man off me!"
  8. I am most likely going to be playing an NPC from another QM, and they've already gave me the go ahead to do so. It doesn't have to be, but it would be neat to see some characters return as heroes, even if only in name and not attitude.
  9. Battle Order >Purpearl- Scroll of Sleep, Hostage- Failure! Russel & Pigley vs. Assassin- Special Damage (Assassin Sealed) Nerwen vs. Assassin- Shield (Guardian Angel) Alexis vs. Assassin- Hit (20+45=65 damage) XX vs. Assassin- Crit. (20x2+32=72/2=36 damage) >Matthias Switches to Quiver >Matthias vs. Assassin- Hit (12+11=23x2=46 damage) Russel & Pigley vs. Assassin- Damage (Assassin Blinded) Purpearl begins by attempting to put the Hostage to sleep, an act that surprisingly fails on her. Nerwen summons her guardian angel, while the rest of the party slaps the assassin around to varying degrees. Matthais fires a cannon shot that hits both the assassin and his hostage, the businessman cursing profoundly. The hostage is still in the assassin's arms. "You don't understand what you're doing! Innocent lives are at stake!!" The Assassin Level -- Humanoid *Poisonous Attacks by 1* *Immune to Sudden Death* *Fights in the Back Row* *Sealed and Blind! 2 rounds remaining* HP: 393/600 Special 1: Serious Business- The Assassin reduces the opponents health to two and stuns them. Passive Special 2: Poisonous Arms: The Assassin's attacks and Special Attacks deal the poisoned 1 effect. Drops: Smoke Bomb, Venom x2 "I thought you were trying to save me!?" The Hostage Level 0 Humanoid HP: 300/300 Special: Kick and Scream and Shout: The Hostage does nothing. Passive Special: Between a Rock and a Hard Place- If the Hostage is put to sleep, he is removed from combat. 10. I'll note that I have tons of quest ideas sitting in backlog if anyone wants to host a quest but doesn't feel as if they have the know-how to create their own. I'm more than willing to help people who might be a little nervous about first time hosting.
  11. (looks at own profile) Now I feel left out.
  12. Karie's not sure how to respond to Sorcha's plea. She can start to feel herself almost choke up. She ponders for a few seconds that seem to go on forever for her. Nothing really comes to her though. In the end, she decides a more physical response would be appropriate. Karie hugs Sorcha. "I'll be alright, Sorcha. I'm going to be okay." For that one moment Karie let her persona slip. Karie was unsure of what lay in wait in the atrium. She began to question if she was coming back from this. She had too... there was so much more she wanted in life.
  13. I don't mean botching a quest on purpose, although I see what you mean. In some players perspective (you know who you are ) 84 was a rousing success. Shadeux rep, yay! In Karie's eyes, she failed her employer and the house she was hoping to get in good terms with. It was still a character progressing experience though. I feel the consequences should be for the character, not the player. I do understand what you're saying though. If someone tries to derail a quest on purpose, then there's a problem. I now want to see a scenario where players attempt to portray other players characters.
  14. Also, blast it Sandy, now I've got two people to contend to with who I want my second character to be.
  15. I think it's a good idea. I think though that perhaps just completing ten quests should count. A failed quest is still an experience in terms of character progression. We should also make it clear that it has to be ten completed quests, not ten quests you were on. Dedication to the game is the key here.
  16. "Yes. Let's get our girls home." She turns to Sorcha, knowing she's not going to like what she has to tell her. "Sorcha... I know you're not going to like this, but I can't keep you here any longer. I must respectfully ask you to make your leave. I promise you I'll meet you back in Eubric, okay? You too... grumpkin girl. Can I have my sword back, please?"
  17. Oh no, I can't argue there. Part of it is also balancing. It's nearly impossible to balance a single level one with a party of level 20's. You can in the teens, and I've done it before, but the quest was more experimental and incredibly level neutral. If you want to read it, go find Four's Company. The idea was brought up before but shot down by Sandy who more or less restated what I did. I get where your coming from though. After a lot of discussion has gone on during the last few days, I'm making a push for shorter, faster paced quests. I wish they did. Fresh baked heroes, what an adorable image!
  18. I can understand where you're coming from, but do all level one's really want to participate in a mandatory first quest that basically works as a tutorial to how the game and world works? I'd rather have our newbies learn by experience, and dip their toes into the world only to get dragged under through intrigue and mystery. I think part of the issue is just chance. I went on my first quest within a few weeks in the hall. Sometimes you get on a quest, sometimes you don't. I will say though that you have a much better chance of getting on a quest if your active and positive in the community and in the game. QM's like active and positive players. Part of the wait in a sign up is a buffer so the QM can make any last minute changes, which is why 103 is taking a little while to shove off: I simply need some more time to set things up. 104 on the other hand looks about ready to go! I should know, I'm looking over Flipz's shoulder in a mentor like fashion!
  19. "Yeah, I can heal you. Just hold still..." Karie's palms glow as a purple aura engulfs them as she looks Sorrow over, healing him. Karie chugs a grand tonic, shaking her head afterwards. "Ugh... why do these things have to taste so gross if I basically run on these." She finds her nostrum, looking it over twice before drinking it. "I'm ready to head in. Let's do this." 50 gold- Sorrow 50 gold- Karie
  20. I ain't stopping you. It comes down to personal preference, I guess.
  21. Okay, true. Perhaps I'm not the best person to put this into perspective seeing as how I've done some things in the hall to progress Karie's personal life. I just don't like the idea of the Partisan. It's really hard to do a sidekick character without it feeling forced or tacked on. I like Finnegan and Barty and McCaffery because they feel like an extension of the character and they don't feel forced. I'd put Meldrin on there as well, but I still have issues with his execution RP wise. How more forced can you get besides "here's a character that now follows you around because hooray for beneficial stats." Finnegan and McCaffery help define the hero's character, not their stats. I feel that's the difference. Although Turdwing is a different story. Perhaps it would help for people looking for a second character to leap into once they hit level one, but then the Partisan's skills would also somehow have to translate over. I don't know. I don't want everyone running around with a secondary character. I feel it'd remove the quirks and uniqueness of our players who have a companion do and do it well.
  22. Then your basically roleplaying with yourself. They feel superfluous. It's so much more interesting when you have someone to play off of, who gives you an actual reaction. I personally don't like the idea, although you probably figured that out.
  23. Karie repeats her action. Repeat Battle Order.
  24. But at that point most players will be on there second character. I think the houses are equally represented, it's just we don't see reputation being given as often because house driven quests generally have limiting stories. We still see them, just not like we used to.
  25. Good to hear. It's alright, I run off some weekends too, except it's for playing with trains and not celebrating human rights. I'm not angry with you, it's just we seem to have hit another dead spot.
