Mystery on the Excelsior - Chapter Three
Bob replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
"No Ezra here!" There's nothing too obvious in the pockets other than some various engineering related bits and bobs. Gabriella tries to take the items back. Charlotte attempts to hold on to it. It looks like there could be a situation here. Emily scans her card - it says she's used her card for her cabin. If you're almost done arguing, you can head to the bridge. -

Hey jerk, I’ve been busy with work Anyway, you can indeed start to scan their keycards. You can ask each passenger to scan them either here or at the bridge security terminal. After asking people not to touch her knob, Captain Bennett notes that Jason and Pierce are missing. The players are all here. You’re going to have to walk there, I’m afraid. -
You know you have a problem when you've had a dream/nightmare about a player asking to read every single book in the library.

Mystery on the Excelsior - Chapter Three

You unlock the compartment using the clever keycode 1234 -- it's the same one you use on your luggage. There's a trundomic moduflator inside there, which is used to regulate the FTL drive's flow ratios. It's locked in the compartment because of how delicate it is. Alfie's lifesigns are not detectable. It's actual signs of life, yes. You can't tell who the three people are, but considering there's three people missing from this room, it's a good chance he's one of them. Oliver gets horrible radiation burns and he dies. The radiation spreads throughout the compartment, killing everyone. Gabriella stops Oliver before he can fucking kill himself and everyone else in the room. Yes, we can. The computer doesn't yield any interesting information. It appears someone has wiped the search history. You have visited: The Lounge, Rooms 1e and 1g, the kitchen/storage, and engineering. This will now be in the first post. An addendum will be made as we visit rooms. I'll also add it to the discussion thread. -

To my knowledge, nobody has logged you in. The containers are filled with a variety of engineering tools, including a thermomic modulator, a duodonic electronitor, and other tools to keep the FTL drive running. There's also a change of uniform for Gabriella, an emergency radiation suit, and some fashionable engineers overalls. There's also a locked compartment that requires the key code to enter. It seems important. Some of the gray floor tiles lift up, revealing complex circuitry and electrical panels. There doesn't appear to be any way to fit underneath the panels with them closed, and there doesn't appear to be someone hidden down there. There are, however, a couple of bottles of vodka and a bottle of rum in one of the panels that regulates temperature, and is therefore very chilly. It seems you've found someone's booze stash. The stairs are packed close to the main FTL drive chamber, and there's just enough room for you squeeze by. It doesn't appear as though it's a frequented part of engineering, but there are some panels that regular atmospheric controls. You're unable to detect exactly where Ezra Parry, but you can detect that all the player characters are in this part of the ship. There are also three lifesigns at the front of the ship. On which floor you cannot tell. The sensors on this ship were not designed to track people and are not as refined as a proper navy starship. There's no trash cans in engineering, but there does appear to be a hazardous materials disposal bin. Opening it might prove dangerous. The sensors are not fine enough to accurately determine where each individual is or who the individuals are considering it cannot make distinctions, but they can ascertain that the majority of lifesigns before the sensors were manipulated appear to be in and around the cabin area, with some on the bridge and at least two to three people in or near rear of the ship around the engineering section. Beyond that, the sensor data does not give you any more details. -

You would need a security access code to use the engineering computers and only the crew have that. Unless you’d like to try hacking it. -

Welcome to Engineering The engineering bay a large two-story room. In the center is the FTL-drive, with numerous other computers and components lining the walls. There are a few little compartments as well. The upper level consists of catwalks in order to access additional terminals and is the primary entry point into engineering. A secondary access door does exist on the first floor. The party goes down the stairs and sees this. -

There's been calls for either engineering or the bridge. Which do people think we should visit first? -

The freezers are full of various frozen foods that are intended to be used for future meals. There doesn't seem to be anything unexpected or unusual in the freezers. Everything seems to be where Noah remembers putting them. The captain gathers all the knives and teapots and puts them in a bag with which to jettison next time she's near the airlock. The airlock is near engineering. -

The stovetop is indeed functional, just in case you'd like to help with breakfast. -

Underneath the sink is an extremely sophisticated water filtration and reclamation system. There’s not too much else underneath besides a few cleaning products and a small power vacuum. The drawers are full of various kitchen utensils that the chef uses to make his five star meals. There’s also various cutlery and other assorted items. There’s a variety of different knives, from carving to butter, and there’s also a few spices and herbs. The only dead body is that of Alfie. The refrigerator is sizable, with many different perishables in there. The items on the shelves seemed to have survived the sudden jostle and seem to be well-secured. On one wall, there’s a row of closed and secure freezers, like what one might see at a grocery store. There’s several stacked plates from last nights dinner service as well as numerous different sweets and cakes. The oven has two drawers on it. The top is a typical sophisticated oven where food can be quickly heated, similar to an old microwave, yet retain its flavor and still be good tasting. The other drawer is more antiquated and is similar to an oven from the early 2000s. Both ovens have been recently used and are both meticulously cleaned. -
Mystery on the Excelsior Chapter Three - What's Cooking? The party awakens to a new day after an uneasy sleep to investigate the kitchens. (Note: Some bricks were removed to make it easier to view) The kitchen is modestly sized with several drawers and cabinets. There's a sink, an oven, and a stove-top. Behind the kitchen is the walk-in fridge - it is not accessible via the kitchen itself and is available to enter through a side door down the hallway. "It's just about breakfast time!" Players: Crew: Captain Amelia Bennett - Played by Shadows Noah Baker, chef - Played by Kristel Arthur Allan, steward - Played by Waterbrick Down Gabriella Palmer, engineer - Played by Hinckley Passengers: George Dawson, businessman - Played by Lind Whisperer Emily Dawson, lawyer - Played by jimmynick Jack Mallory, author - Played by KotZ Dr. Logan Frost, psychiatrist - Played by Fugazi Charlotte Sawyer, regional politician - Played by Pandora Sophie Young, lecturer - Played by Darkdragon Charlie Seymour, zoologist - Played by Tariq j Oliver Hudson, artist - Played by Trekkie99 NPCs: Jason Falcon, helmsman Pierce Foster, navigator Alfie Peck, passenger (deceased) Ezra Parry, passenger (missing) Rules 1) Every player has received a character with a backstory and information that may be exclusive to them knowing. You can feel free to roleplay the character and flesh them out more. Mystery games are often primarily role-playing games, don’t forget that. There is no such thing as a “fluff post” or anything to the like. Throw out any conceptions you have used in mafia games. Feel free to make the character yours beyond what I've given. 2) There is no voting of players in this game. Providing something extreme, all twelve characters will last until the end of the game, at which time they must attempt to “solve” the mystery. You win if you are able to correctly solve the mystery, or if you get close enough to do so. This will happen in the final chapter of the game. You’ll receive several questions and then you have to answer them and explain. If you get it right, you win. If not, well… 3) A chapter will last as long as necessary for the story with no given or set end time. This is, of course, different to mafia games where days last about 72 hours. Keep in mind that mystery games often run longer than mafia games. If you commit to signing up and playing, make sure you can participate for at least a few months. 4) There is no PMing in the game without my permission. For example, you can say “I wish to speak to this person privately” and I may give you approval to do so. 5) You must search for clues. The room that you enter will be described to you and will also usually have a photo to accompany the description. This means that clues typically won’t be out in the open for you to see. If you want to search a room or area for clues, you cannot type: “I want to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room." Rather, you must specify what you want to do. For example: “I want to open the drawers of the cabinet.” You can only submit one action at a time until I reply to it, but anyone can request a search of something at the same time as you. For example, if you ask for a search of a closet, you must wait until I reply to it to submit another action. However other players can request searches of other parts of the room. 6) Please don’t edit your posts. There’s no real penalty to it, but it might make you look more suspicious and I would appreciate not doing so. If you’re worried about a typo, double check your post. 7) Do not talk about the game outside of the threads! 8) This is still a game of deception. Players have things that they wish to hide. If you have any questions about your character, feel free to ask via PM! 9) Make sure any actions that you take are in italics and on a separate line so I can see them. If I miss it for some reason, just quote it and yell at me in another post. 10) When it’s time to end the chapter, you can decide where you’d like to go next in the form of a vote. Voting will last 24 hours strictly. The location with the most votes will win. You’ll be given a map/layout of the ship as well as some choices that you can explore. You can always return to a previous location if you wish. 11) I know we'll all be good rule-followers, but I'll ask everyone to adhere to these rules. Breaking them too frequently could see you removed from the game Room Key:1a: Jack Mallory1b: Sophie Young1c: Charlie Seymour1d: Oliver Hudson1e: Alfie Peck1f: Logan Frost1g: Ezra Parry1h: vacant2a: Charlotte Sawyer2b: George and Emily Dawson You have visited: The Lounge, Rooms 1e and 1g, the kitchen/storage, and engineering.

I'm going to end this chapter here and give us a one day rest. Chapter Three will reutrn tomorrow. If you've got any actions you'd like to take (as long as they're not ridiculous) feel free to PM me.
-
There’s nothing too visible underneath the sheets or mattress. They’re covered in blood from Alfie having been there for quite awhile.
-
If anyone has any private actions they'd like to do, you may PM them to me. Some people have been taking full advantage of private actions. As long as it's nothing ridiculous, I'll see if it can happen.

Strangely no. There’s space for notes, but nothing written besides the circled dates. It’s also odd that Ezra is using an old-fashioned day timer instead of a modern day tablet or virtual planner for such a thing. The markings are very faint, but they appear to be numbers. You can’t make out which ones. As Alfie’s body is being taken to the walk-in freezer, Emily tries his fingerprint on the tablet. She’s unsuccessful and so puts it in her purse. There’s been a suggestion to check the kitchens. If there’s no other suggestions, the chapter will end and the new one will begin to search them. If there’s other suggestions, I’ll give us about eight hours to make them and then we’ll hold our vote.

It's a sort of daily planner with calendars. It seems to be mostly empty, with a few key dates circled, including yesterday's date when everyone boarded, today's date, a date for three days from now, and the date for when the ship arrives on Alpha Centauri. None of these work. It's getting late in the day after a full day of investigating. We'll be returning to the lounge to discuss today's proceedings and also pick somewhere to go for the next chapter.

His e-reader is full of fictional and nonfiction books, mostly about historical related subjects. There is a book written by Oliver in there, though. There doesn’t seem to be any hidden files or non-book related items on the reader though. Ezra’s current address is listed as living in San Francisco. He is 45 years old. He has been to the Mars colony twice, but besides that his passport pages are empty. There’s nothing else of interest in the passport besides that though. This is not successful - the pressure marks are only just visible with Dr. Frost’s keen eyes. Was, is, same difference. Underneath the mattress there’s a tiny booklet that looks like an old-fashioned day timer. You’d have to look that information up. Several passengers did bring excess luggage with them though that’s in the storage bay. Like the last room, the bed is bolted to the floor and it’s not possible to check underneath it. You can’t see or feel anything of note underneath the bedding.

The travel bag has some pain reliever medicine in it, as well as what appear to be some toiletries and a few writing implements. The suitcases mostly contain clothes and other vacation-related items. There's a brochure inside for a hotel on Alpha Centauri as well as a return ticket back to Earth on the Blue Star Line, scheduled for a few weeks from now. By the amount of clothing inside the bag, it would confirm that Ezra was not intending on staying on Alpha Centauri for a long time. There's also some books as well as an e-reader that does not have a passcode. He's also got his United Earth Passport. Years of being old fashioned and writing prescriptions by hand help Dr. Frost determine that there are indeed pen pressure marks from a previous note.

The bathroom medicine cabinet is empty except for a toothbrush. Ezra is also not behind the shower curtain. The paper is a series of numbers. It would appear to be a banking sort code.
-
The bedside table drawers are mostly empty save for a few sponsored pamphlets on Alpha Centauri leisure activities. It is password protected. It's also got a fingerprint and retinal scanner features as well. The password that Emily uses is not successful. The bathroom is completely barren except for a few Blue Star toiletries that come with the room. Like all bathrooms on the ship, there's the toilet, shower, cabinet, etc. Ezra is not in the bathroom. It doesn't appear that Ezra is in the closet either. It also seems that he hasn't started to unpack his suitcases. There's two of them on the floor that are unopened. Gabriella searches the desk drawers. She doesn't find anything too revealing except for a crumpled up piece of paper. The floor lamp doesn't seem to have anything out of the ordinary on it. It's likely that it fell during the power outage in which a lot of the ship's furniture shifted around the room and was not picked back up again. The bed is mostly undisturbed, apart from the area where the lamp had fallen upon it. Charlotte keeps a close eye on Emily while inspecting the lamp. The top of the desk has the tablet and the lamp on it, along with a small travel bag. There's also an unused notepad.

This is what you see. Like the last room, there's a bathroom and a closet on either side of the room. Both of those doors are shut. You do not see Ezra anywhere.
-
You could, yes. Your keycard does work, since you use it to housekeep. The door is now unlocked.
