  1. Due to the birth of my son, I was incredibly quiet around here, and did far more lurking and browsing than building and posting! However, Schmidt of Barqa will making a "re-introduction" soon enough and will also show the sizable force of men he has gathered (all his thievery has given him opportunity to employ a good force of mercenaries!). For great Kaliphlin!
  2. Woah! This is really cool. Good NPU. I think those big vehicle tires on the base serve very well. I am impressed, but would be even more impressed if you were able to build the sabre part of it!
  3. I think this build is awesome. It is so clean and your cave is excellent! I also disagree with comments about the base. I think it is really neat and unique to your builds, so I would keep using it. Although I may try a different color occasionally. Very nice build!
  4. Run a good campaign, as in "free LEGO for all patrons," right? ;)
  5. I have considered making them a little more "mocish." I have also considered making them into a mini comic. Either way, I certainly hope to do some more!
  6. I'm thinking the not so innocent, although very innocent looking, old man pinned to the well by the spear. If his daughter(?) and grandson(?) knew the skeleton's (literally) in their pops' closet, they wouldn't shed so many tears I think. Then again, maybe it's a deceased kinsman ;)
  7. Lurtz is an Uruk-Hai from "The Lord of the Rings." Lurtz did not actually appear in the books, but he did appear in the movie and had his 10 minutes of fame. Anyways, it's Lurtz's 30th birthday. I'm sure you didn't know that, so I have gone to the trouble to detail his elaborate, humorously sad, villifyingly long, 30th birthday.*** Some days are bad and some days are real bad. Saying Lurtz's birthday is anything but the latter, would be an absolute travesty to the abysmal experience of his 30th birthday. Enjoy. "Lurtz celebrated his 30th birthday. It was not an easy one. Lurtz seemed to think 30 was a harder birthday than any other one he had before. Some Uruks came by to cheer up their sorrowful leader. They all chipped in every coin they had to afford a nice bucket of honey. Honey was sweet. Honey could cheer anyone up, even Lurtz. Happy Birthday Lurtz." Lurtz's 30th birthday by SSchmidt--, on Flickr "Poor Uruks. Lurtz is allergic to honey. Happy Birthday Lurtz." Lurtz's 30th Birthday by SSchmidt--, on Flickr *** Detailing Lurtz's elaborate, humorously sad, villifyingly long, 30th birthday in two photos, is impossible. Feel free to follow the story at the aforementioned links.
  8. A freebuild for Schmidt of Barqa. GoH - Kaliphlin Freebuild by SSchmidt--, on Flickr
  9. Thanks ALL of you for your thoroughness and promptness as well! I've been working on something small, i'll post it soon!
  10. Hey guys, Been scouring these forums and still unable to find anything. How exactly do free builds work in the grand scheme of things? For example, my character, has a free build relating to his back story. Do I just post the story and pictures here? Thanks for helping me smoothly transition into GoH ;)
  11. Put the three of them together and you never know what will happen! Thanks for the warm welcome! Thanks! Logar hasn't stolen anything you would miss, erm... I mean, if anything turns up missing it was your squire!
  12. Guilds of Historica - Schmidt of Barqa by SSchmidt--, on Flickr Here we have Schmidt, a smuggler living in the city of Barqa, in the western part of Kaliphlin. Schmidt's skills aren't limited to any one craft, but he excels at smuggling and the dealing of goods and information. He works for some very important nobles in the city of Barqa. On the left we see Schmidt's Man-at-arms, Lofgar. If it needs to be killed, Lofgar is the one to kill it. On the right we see Schmidt's personal thief, Logar. If it needs to be stolen, Logar is the one to steal it. Of course, any half-wit would know that Lofgar and Logar are brothers. Lofgar does the killing, Logar does the stealing, and Schmidt does the coin counting from a safe distance. Anyone with the common sense of a gnat would realize how unfair it is that Schmidt should benefit from the work of two. Unfortunately Lofgar and Logar have not the common sense of a gnat, but rather an amoeba. ***Hey guys, look forward to building with you!
  13. Hey guys, how does one go about joining a guild in GoH? I would love to join Kaliphlin!
  14. The tilt of the tree is awesome!
  15. Hello all! I am from the USA, inparticular the state of Kentucky, but have done a lot of travelling over in Europe and Turkey (a LOT in Turkey). I grew up playing with LEGO, and recently got back into it this last year. My wife is expecting our first child, so we are incredibly excited! I want a good hobby with the child and could think of nothing better than LEGO! My favorite sets are Kingdoms Lord of the Rings and Hobbit Alien Conquest Pirates (with the Islanders). As it stands I have a backlog of MOCS I want to create, from all the aforementioned sets. I am also starting a series of MOCS (one day!) of the Belgariad book series by David Eddings. I really like smaller mocs, and look in the future to post some of my work on here and get involved in some of the competitions! I am here to learn from all of you! So what's your favorite set and why? :D
