  1. The Melting Room ($12.95 US) has Emmet and Wyldstyle, although she's hooded in that set. Alternatively, there's a Wyldstyle polybag coming, though nobody knows who will be selling it yet.
  2. I need to ask...is there any chance that the Lego Friends show up? My daughter would love that.
  3. Remember that tomorrow's Store Monthly Mini-Build is a Micro Manager. I have no idea if he's film accurate or not, but he looks adorable. If you don't have a store nearby, the instructions will be available here. (Right now it's showing the 2013 February build of a log cabin, but they *should* swap it out.) (...and now I'm hoping that when I go to the Store tomorrow, they have a bunch of 4 x 4 plates and SNOT bricks so I can make some more!)
  4. Do you recall which minifigs are in the Calendar overall? My recollection from the fuzzy Youtube video was Santa Vader, a (possibly) 501s Trooper in a Santa hat, a green Astromech, Tatooine Luke, and General Rieekan. SW calendars typically have 8-9 figures, so I'd like to know who the others are. I'd be astonished if there's no Battle Droid.... I don't buy SW sets very often, mostly due to the cost. The Advent Calendars tend to be my only shot during the year to get some figures. Thanks!
  5. Hmmm, I'm also hesitant on that Advent Calendar. I started on the ACs in March 2012 when I found the 2011 calendar for $10. I liked the mini Police headquarters and thought it was a nice selection of parts for what I paid. The 2012 Fire Calendar wasn't bad and gave me a mess of firemen to go with the forest fire truck. Plus it came with two kids (Lego doesn't make a lot of kids!) and some brick profile pieces. The best part of 2013's calendar was that I found it for $12 in October. At that price, I had to get it, and my daughter had fun with the daily builds. If I can find 2014's at that price again, I'll get it. Otherwise, I may limit myself to Star Wars and Friends. Wonder if it'll sell out again this year, though. This past Christmas, the Advent Calendars all rapidly vanished in November and their prices shot through the roof on eBay. I'm told that the retailers will probably overorder this year as a result, so we'll see.
  6. I can't imagine this movie NOT having a sequel. I do hope it's good. I think that this movie is tapping into the same nostalgia factor as the Toy Story movies, and I'm guessing that there's going to be a deep moral message to the film (creativity versus conformity). One neat thing about the Toy Story films is that they revolved around different real-world aspects of toys. The original dealt with classic toys versus newer ones (Woody feared being replaced by Buzz). TS2 dealt with the value of toys--play versus mint collecting. (Woody dealing with being abandoned versus living in a museum.) The third dealt with passing on childhood toys (being put away or passed on). I guess what I'm wondering is what TLM2 will concern itself with. If it's simply Legos vs. Lego instead of a deep theme that kids and AFOLs can relate to, it might not be very good.
  7. Reportedly, the Lego Movie Police and the new City Police polys are showing up in TRU this week. Anyone seen them?
  8. Here's the instructions for the 3177 car. As far as I can tell, the few differences are as follows: 1) The white 2 x 4 plate should be replaced with a black 1 x 4 plate and two black 1 x 1 plates with the round clip attached. 2) The 1 x1 round plates (the headlights) should be replaced with clear 1 x 1 round tiles. 3) The rear view mirrors are made of two black cheese slopes and two silver 1 x 1 round tiles. 4) The front bumper (two white cheeses and a 1 x 2 white tile) should be replaced with a 1 x 4 grey arch. It's hard to tell if anything else is different between the TRU build and 3177. What worries me is that the TRU car looks like it's made of deep green bricks instead of 3177's black. I hope that's just a trick of the light; in the movie clips, Emmet's car appears to be black. I'd hate if it turned out that the car was made of a harder-to-find deep green brick.
  9. Toys N Bricks is reporting that the Super Secret Police polybag is available at TRU now. Anybody seen it yet? I may have to run over there tomorrow.... Of course, the Emmet's car set is available free at TRU next Saturday. Anyone going? I can't make it, and my wife may not be able to take my daughter. I'd like to see a parts list so I can Bricklink a 3177 Small Car and modify it accordingly (they're almost but not quite the same).
  10. I am guessing that a lot of the Disney licensed characters had very non-obvious appearances. However, I am desperately hoping that we see Lego Obi-Wan Kenobi, Gandalf, and Dumbledore team up. (I have heard that Luke Skywalker shows up...true?)
  11. Update: the Color Me Mine shop is doing some kind of Lego Movie event. It appears to be a make-your-own ceramics store. It also appears to be an international chain, not just in the U.S. I can't figure out exactly what the event is--are the kids making ceramic Lego? The closest store near me appears to have kids nights on Fridays, when my daughter has dance class, so we probably won't go.
  12. I don't know that it's going away already, as I still see plenty of TLM sets on the shelf. It's just that *that* set seems to be in short supply. Of course, I wonder if we'll see sets start to sell out when the movie is actually released. The kids are going to love this movie, and when they see it in a store....
  13. So is Cloud Cuckoo Palace going to be the low-cost breakout set of the series? I'm noticing fewer of them in stores and wondering if the kids will snap it up as a cheap way of getting Emmet, Wyldestyle, and Unikitty in one set. The Target near me had one left; the Wal-Mart near me didn't have any. I'm wondering if I should get it now before it vanishes (shades of 2013's Advent Calendars!).
  14. For those who didn't see in the Special Forums, Pajamas Emmet will be available at Regal Cinemas. DJ Robot will be at AMC Theaters for their Stubbs members (which already costs $12). Both require you to see the film in 3D.
  15. Bleah. The AMC bonus requires you to be a Stubbs member. Stubbs membership requires you to pay $12. So I'd have to pay $12 plus $15 for a ticket to get a Minifigure which, by all rights, should be worth $3. Pass. At least a Regal membership is free and the Pajamas Emmet is more appealing anyway.
  16. OK, so, is there a THIRD theater that's giving away a Wild West Emmet...? (Sorry, but my Wild West Wyldstyle feels alone without him.)
  17. I think I see Dumbledore at 0:42 of the Cloud Cuckoo video, dancing with the Egyptian Queen.
  18. The Robot Radio DJ is the preorder bonus at Walmart, but only on certain platforms. Added above.
  19. WHAT is with these preorder bonuses being available for everything except the PC edition? I don't own a gaming system and I don't plan to get one. I'd get the PC edition *if* it had a decent preorder bonus....
  20. Then I guess that pretty much makes this an Empire Strikes Back calendar, though it weirdly has a Tatooine Luke on the ceiling and a Clone Trooper. (Surprised it's not a Snowtrooper, though we did get one in 2012.) I also guess that's supposed to be an R4-series droid, though none of those were in ESB. So...maybe I have no idea what film this is supposed to represent.
  21. Who's the tan guy next to the Rebel Pilot in the Advent Calendar. I'm going to kick myself if it's somebody I should know but I'm not recognizing. I'm also disappointed at the lack of army builders, unless there's more not visible in the box. I'm fine with the standard fare of a Santa, a Droid, and I'm resigned to there being a Battle Droid somewhere in there. I was hoping for some Episode-III specific army builders like a Phase II Clone, an ARC-170 pilot, a Neimoidian Trooper, a Magna Guard, and a Wookiee other than Chewie.
  22. They'll be posted on this page, probably the same day or shortly after. From the photos of the build, you should already be able to figure out 90% of the parts and how they go together. My guess is that it's held together by 1x1 bricks with studs on 5 sides.
  23. Went to the Barnes & Noble Event today. The kids got a free movie poster and did some activity sheets which entered them in a raffle to win free movie tickets. (We didn't win.) So my daughter had fun, but there was no free bricks or figures. On March 1 (I think), B&N is having a "Build the Lego Movie" event. I don't know what that is--perhaps they'll dump out some bricks and let the kids play with them. I added it to the schedule above.
  24. I'm still bummed that I can't get a Wild West Emmet unless I preorder a game for a platform I don't own.
  25. Yeah, I left that off since the promotion had already passed.
