  1. Correction--2011 only had one unique minifigure: Santa Yoda. This year's "Santa" was effectively white Chewbacca. The only other "unique" figure this year was U-3PO, although that was welcome, of course.
  2. I am not getting the freakouts over the Advent Calendar. I'm not. I've gotten every SW Advent Calendar since 2011 and they all have two things in common: army builders and microbuilds. On the army builders, I've always appreciated that the calendars are a (relatively) cheap source of minifigs that are often too expensive to buy elsewhere. I wouldn't have a Scout Trooper, for example, if it hadn't been for the AC, because I sure wasn't going to buy the Ewok Village set. So I'm OK that this comes with a FO Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper and stuff that's been available elsewhere. I haven't been going nuts on TFA sets, so I'm glad to see them inexpensively released elsewhere. I'm also glad that we're getting a non-OT/PT calendar for once. I realize that people desperately want something more than BB-8 with a hat. I say: give it time. This is the first calendar we've gotten since 2011 that's not OT or Prequel themed. It took six years--SIX--for us to get a nice set of unique figures (Yoda, Maul, Jango, Vader, C-3PO, and Chewie). And hey, 2015's calendar came with a very standard R2-D2 whose only distinguishing feature was a set of antlers. I can live with BB-8 with a hat. We'll get other Santa figures, like Kylo Ren or Phasma, in time. Be patient. Rebelscum counts 14 builds: 1) Luggabeast, 2) Millennium Falcon, 3) First Order troop transport, 4) a sleigh full of gifts, 5) some kind of snowmobile, 6) a laser cannon, 7) Krennic's shuttle 8) AT-DP, 9) Unkar's Thug, 10) First Order Stormtrooper, 11) Snowtrooper 12) Officer 13) a Resistance Officer and 14) Holiday BB-8 on a snowboard.
  3. Headline says it all. I have the new mini Batmobile poly and I'm looking to swap with a U.S. individual who's near a Legoland and can do a friendly swap for the Joker set. Thanks!
  4. Hey all, I just wanted to share some great news--I got to attend the premiere of Lego DC Comics: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout on Sunday and I met the producers and two actors--John DiMaggio (Deathstroke) and Jason Spisak (the Joker). My few interview questions are posted at this link--I'll be doing another article later about the overall premiere experience. I hope you like it!
  5. Did I post that I got mine? Because I did. Thanks Mike!
  6. Did anybody see that they've fully revealed DK's next "Build Your Own Adventure" book, and it includes what's basically a Microfighter Y-Wing?
  7. Found a Heartlake Grand Hotel for half-price ($64 US) at a Wal-Mart today, along with a Jungle First Aid Bike for $4.00.
  8. Neat, and I suppose one could stick him in some Pirate scenes. It's making me wish we could get some DC Comics Collectible Minifigs lines and we'd get an Elseworlds Batman in each one.
  9. We do have a few examples from Star Wars of characters who have minifigures at different ages: - Anakin Skywalker (kid through adult) - Boba Fett (kid and adult) - Obi-Wan Kenobi (young adult through old man) - Han Solo (remember, he has a kid version packed into a DVD, plus adult and old man) - Princess Leia (young adult and old lady) Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other lines where the characters age.
  10. Making Old Luke the May the 4th figure would bug the heck out of me, as I'm not someone who regularly drops $75 at the Lego Store just to get a freebie. He's a critical figure to the story even if he's only on screen for a minute, so to make him that inaccessible to the public would be very bothersome. Contrast that with C-3PO, who yes, is a minor character in the movie, but also very important and is at least reasonably available to the public when compared to a $75 bonus. So, I'm going to keep hoping that he's a pack-in with that "Chronicles of the Force" book.
  11. OK. I guess I can see it compared to larger Skiff pictures, but it's a pretty poor representation at that scale. There are some things that just shouldn't be replicated at that size if you lose that much accuracy. (Plus, it's going to look huge compared to last year's Sail Barge and Sarlaac pit.)
  12. It's in this photo. There's definitely a brown thing there and I have absolutely no idea what it is. Maybe it's Dooku's speeder bike but even that doesn't seem right. I will say that there appears to be a surprising lack of weapons racks this year, especially compared to the 2015 AC which was replete with them. Maybe they're finally wising up and including the weapons with the minifigures. There's only a few builds there that I can look at and say that they stink, that random stud shooter included.
  13. Can't quite tell what I'm looking at with the Advent Calendar. I'm seeing the following (put in white to avoid spoilers, so highlight to read): Minifigures: - Some kind of Silver/Gray Protocol Droid (Episode II 3PO?) - Battle Droid - Bespin Guard...with ice skates! - Hoth Rebel Trooper - Snowtrooper - Snowman Imperial - ROTJ Luke - Yeti Chewbacca Builds: - Mini Hoth Transport - Mini TIE Interceptor - Hoth Rebel Cannon (I think) - Tantive IV - Republic Attack Cruiser - Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter (remodeled from 2011) - Mini Hoth Tower - Some brown craft I can't identify - Some white pieces with a stud shooter? (Maybe the snowman goes on here?) - Clone Wars Droid Gunship - Some kind of tank? Possibly an AAT? - Some kind of white shuttle? - Slave-1 (remodeled from 2011) - Jabba's Palace - Brown GNK Droid (remodeled from 2012) That only gets me to 23 builds. Not sure if I missed something.
  14. This is weird, though. We just had an updated A-Wing last year. Unless they do it in Rebels colors?
  15. This is petty of me, but I really want to know what the Advent Calendar will have. Since I don't spend a lot in a given year, the AC is always an invaluable source of bulk minifigs. Santa Ren FTW if we get him.
  16. I'm still crossing my fingers that Old Luke appears in the Chronicles of the Force book this summer. I'm going to scream if he turns out to be a $75 polybag freebee at the Lego Store (which, at the moment, appears to be Hux).
  17. So...is Dimensions seriously becoming an unloading ground for suggestions from Ideas that didn't make the cut?
  18. This is intriguing but not answering my original question...
  19. Question for the group: There's quite a few Lego toys in the Dimensions line that's not based in a regular licensed Lego line. Off the top of my head, this includes The Wizard of Oz, Portal 2, and I guess the Midway Arcade guy. And we may be getting Flintstones and Jetsons. Are there any indications that Lego is producing these figures in an independent licensed line at some point? I don't own a gaming platform, so to date I haven't gotten any Dimensions toys. However, between the price cuts and the fact that some of these guys don't seem to have their own lines, I'm wondering if I should get them. Like, will this be the only official Wicked Witch of the West ever, or is an expansion coming later? Thanks.
  20. So...back on topic for the year, is there any word on what the exclusive minifig in this summer's book will be? (What's it called, Chronicles of the Force?) I wonder if it'll be an Old Luke, who hasn't shown up in any sets yet.
  21. That's Beast Boy. Specifically, you have Beast Boy, Starfire, and Robin, modeled on their appearances from the Teen Titans cartoon. The other two members are Cyborg (who's in the Darkseid Invasion set, though he looks different from his cartoon appearance) and Raven (not in any set yet). That's Beast Boy. 22. Somebody remind me--when do we PM CopMike our addresses? When the whole contest is done, or anytime? (I remember that he likes us to include the country.)
  23. Yay, I won the Batman/Teen Titans set! Now I don't have to spend $120 on Joker's playland! Thanks CopMike!
  24. I'm going to give props to the UCS Naboo Starfighter, which was a 2002 set (I think). The chrome pieces are gorgeous, and the set is pretty much minifigure scale. The one thing I hate is that it wasn't minifig compatible despite being the right size, but I just went and modified mine to fit a figure. I wish my stickers hadn't all peeled off.
