Does look like a good shop - Defo somewhere I could eaily spend an obscene amout of money with all my fave 1980s Town sets on there. What's weird is that it's the Irish eBay site but the shop is all in German?? Is it a paddy reaching out to the Germans or is it a German that has been banned from the eBay.de site?? Cheers Rog

You are correct, it is the ambulance helicopter. I think it would make a great military chopper if you changed the colour and did some minor mods. It has good outriggers (with the wheels on) which you could use to mount weapons. The cargo space is pretty good - It takes a minifig stretcher easily. You could get two, maybe three minifigs sitting down in there or a lump of cargo. The floor space with studs is 4x4 but this space extends into the exits and the tunnel between the front and rear of the chopper. It has opening side hatches with a winch on one side (which could be replaced easily with a gun) and has a drop down ramp at the back. The pilots seating position is quite laid back which is more military than civilian IMO. Hope this helps! Cheers Rog

You are so right about placing problems. 95% of my LEGO collection is minifig-based and is mostly 1980s & 1990s Town sets. I love the new sets and the detail is great but somehow the XXL crane will never manage to drive along my LEGO Town high street!! Cheers Rog

MASK was awesome - My brothers and I had all the toys and they were great. Transformers had more clever transformations but IMO the MASK toys were much more playable with. I really love your Gator and think that your Thunderhawk would be perfect if you could wangle a way of getting the side exhausts on there too! M.A.S.K. Cheers Rog

Spurred on by the positive comments (thanks guys!) here is the next instalment! Ambulances this time - 6688 & 7890: Simple front shot shows the new model looking a bit "pumped up" compared to the old: From the side the new one is just a tad taller & much bigger wheels but about the same length: 7890 looks quite a bit bigger from this angle... ...a lot more blue lights too! And finally, the business end; 2008's paramedic has more kit but 1987 you got an extra minifig! Cheers Rog

That was all I meant (TBH - I couldn't think what to write for the picture) Anyway, here's the next lot: This is two Fire Chief's Cars (6505 & 7241) I like this view comparing the cars and the firemen really nicely: Cheers Rog

I was going to do some more comparisons of new and old but maybe I shouldn't bother if I don't have a specific aim...... Cheers Rog

Took these photos today. Thought it made an interesting comparison: The minifig on the left looks much fresher-faced than the other even though he's 20 years older! You can see the difference in the colour of the old vs new yellow bricks in this one Cheers Rog

I am always on holiday on my birthday (a tradition since leaving school!) and I always make sure I get at least one new Lego set to take with me wherever I may be on holiday. Putting together a new set while enjoying a cold one always does me quite nicely! Cheers Rog

Great techniques - Particularly like the use of old-style fireman's tops and tyres as busbys! Nice one. Rog

I know what you mean! Toyr r Us and Woolies have a few sets each but not exactly what you would call a range. Most independent toy shops don't stock any sets. I remember when I was younger going to John Lewis every Saturday as they had the full range all the time; even they now only have a small handful of sets. Having said that, it's not just the UK. I go to France regularly and the stores there only have the same small selections that can be found in the UK (Normally half a dozen CITY sets, one builder set, one Technic set and a few Star Wars or Indiana Jones.) Maybe 20 sets in total in each (giant) hypermarket. Even the shop in Legoland Windsor is disappointing. It has lots of the same sets but by no means not the full range. Thank heavens for Lego's website and eBay!! Cheers Rog

I'm a really interesting Grey Arch 1 x 6 x 2. Lucky old me! But backwards, I am a much more interesting Armoured Car: Cheers Rog

Corrected Link! Cheers Rog

Never made the connection between Fabuland and Wind in the Willows before... Simple & genius at the same time and very nicely put together. Great build. Cheers Rog

Hi Most of my sets are unboxed so I store them in sealed bags in big plastic boxes. This isn't a terribly neat or easy to use way of storying them. What I think I want is like a tool chest with small drawers as ideally I would like one set per (labelled) drawer. However, everytime I go looking for something like this it's either got drawers that are too small or only comes with like 6 drawers for about £20. I have iro 80 sets ranging in size from small Town cars through the Grand Prix scene to Model Team. Anyone got any good ideas or examples of what they have done (for a reasonable cost!). Cheers Rog

I'm a Wexford man but now living in Hertfordshire courtesy of my English wife!! I'd definitely be interested in joining and being involved with an Irish users group but meeting up in person would be difficult as I'm an expat (no pun intended ). Cheers Rog

Last set I got was the XXL Mobile Crane which was on special in Auchun in Boulogne. Great set with lots of detail just a shame it's a bit big to drive around my Legoland Town!! Cheers Rog

Inspired by my first Lego set (379 Bus Station) I decided to put all my car parts together to see how big a bus fleet I could build on the same scale/style as the bus in this bus station. Apart from fewer doors and modernised front ends I think you can see the resemblence. I even had enough uniformed (black legs, plain blue torso and white peaked cap) drivers for every bus but I never took photos of these There are slightly different designed (and taller!) executive coaches at the far left and an airport bus and school bus at the far right. I also converted the 6395 Grand Prix Racing Scene into quite a good bus station for the fleet to use too. I'll try and find photos of the conversion... Cheers Rog

I know exactly what you mean of course DJ. I did build and rebuild and rebuild again several times during construction trying to get the look right. The scale of it makes this very difficult because each small change = massive number of bricks!! If only I had LDD when I did it... This is the kinda thing that I had in mind when shaping the front: http://www.hickerphoto.com/data/media/25/quebec-F76T0923.jpg The back was going to have some shape but I then decided to have a car ferry sytle rear door and it just ended up flat on the back. Cheers Rog

Thanks for all the welcomes guys! I will have a look for any photos of my Model Team conversions but these were done in the days before digital cameras (feeling old now!) so I'm not sure what I've got. I guess that I could just do it all over again.... I don't have any trains at the moment but keep nearly buying a monorail!! Also, did you know you can build a (nearly) perfect replica of the 7822 railway station c1980 using LDD. Comes in at about £60. I've got the LXF if anyone is interested... Cheers Rog

I recently found a replacement drive belt for my Dyson for only 99p on eBay.......... Oh, you mean Lego deal don't you?? Well, I was in Boulogne a couple of weekends ago (I'm a coach driver) and came across the XXL Mobile Crane 7249 in a hypermarket for 20 Euros (which is about £16). This hypermarket gives coach drivers 15 Euro vouchers for bringing groups of people to the store so the net cost to me was 5 Euros - or about £3.50. This set is available right now on the Lego website for £34.99 so that's a pretty good saving! Cheers Rog

That's because it's made of Lego dude...!! Cheers Rog

I normally have RTE Radio 2 streaming through. 80s, 90s & today's pop music..... Cheers Rog

Just digging about on my PC (trying to find a pic for my avatar) and came across pics of this old beastie. Built before I refurbished (cleaned!) my older bricks hence the grubiness of some of it but still quite a striking model nonetheless. Plenty of minifigs on deck to give an idea of scale and I've included interior shots too. An oldie but a goodie! The bow view: http://www.riggs-net.com/Images/ship0001.JPG The bow view again from above: http://www.riggs-net.com/Images/ship0003.JPG The stern view: http://www.riggs-net.com/Images/ship0004.JPG Note the baseplate from Police Station 6384 as part of the deck. Plus the back end does open to reveal a car deck but I never photographed it! Deck 3 - The bridge: http://www.riggs-net.com/Images/ship0007.JPG Deck 2 - The canteen and hospital: http://www.riggs-net.com/Images/ship0008.JPG Deck 1 - Research station and stores: http://www.riggs-net.com/Images/ship0009.JPG Cheers Rog
