  1. I agree on this one and do the same with mine. They're all together against the pirates. Cheers Rog
  2. I think it would be a great challenge to construct some figs, vehicles and neighbours at the same scale! Especially using the furniture cues from this set. You could play then! Cheers Rog
  3. Looks very nice and is a good representation of this type of building. My only observation would be that there is a lack of flowers/window boxes/hanging baskets/etc on the outside. Any British pub in that era and style of building would have many of these on the exterior. Cheers Rog
  4. I pretty much agree with Rufus on each of these. The use of "until" rather than "till" would sound nicer and would certainly looks better when written down: "They played football until the evening" Cheers Rog
  5. I would be very interested in something like this too if you would be willing to share? Thanks Rog
  6. I mostly collect town/city but dabble in all themes. I've got hundreds of town/city sets but at least a couple of every other theme too. Cheers Rog
  7. The sets do seem expensive even compared to the SW sets. It's disappointing to find they are cheaper in the US too. I understand that the custom moulds must cost a lot to make but surely the licensing shouldn't be such a large cost. For Disney I would have thought that part of the exercise was publicising the new film? Making a lot of money from licensing something that's advertising sounds like having your cake and eating it! As Jack Sparrow was the only minifig I really wanted I spent £1 on the News of the World and got my free set from TRU yesterday. I can ignore the rest of the overpriced sets now..... Cheers Rog
  8. The top floor lifts off as does the roof of the top floor. The front section where the driver sits doesn't lift off but you can seat him via the front door anyway. Cheers Rog
  9. Thanks for all the feedback. I completely agree about the White. It's the result of a couple of things: 1. I was trying to match the single decker colour scheme. It works much better on the other side where the doors don't intrude on the stripe. 2. I was solely using the parts from two city buses and ran out of yellow bricks! I'm going to dig out my spare parts and tweak this week now that I am happy with the proportions. Cheers Rog
  10. Based on the city bus from City Corner and built only using parts from two regular city buses. Wanted to keep the same look and feel without making it too tall. Just about gets away with although the backend is a little untidy! Cheers Rog
  11. It is very nice and looks good. The working steering is nicely done but suffers from the problem I had a few years back when putting rear-controlled multi-axle steering in a vehicle. The rear wheels turn fractionally before the front ones which is no problem for display but creates a weird effect when "driving" around corners. I never found a really neat solution as this is caused by the slack in LEGO UJs and other parts. My solution was to run the steering column direct to the front steering rack and have a second column from the front rack to the one at the back. But maybe I'm a bit fussy? Nice job! Cheers Rog
  12. Errr.... Yeah, that's what I do too! Just product testing..... Cheers Rog
  13. They both some with the same power options but, like you say, less track in one compared to the other. I got the old RC cargo train as my first LEGO train and have both 7939 & 7938 as well now. I think the cargo train is better value as you get a lot more features and accessories plus the extra track. I just use regular non-rechargeable batteries in all my trains. I have had to replace the batteries in the older cargo train once. All the other trains and controllers are still running on their original batteries. I don't think the rechargeable options are worth it. Cheers Rog
  14. 1979-ish for me. 379 was the first proper set I got: And I've still got it! Cheers Rog
  15. Exactly what I mean! A FH16 would look great in that scale! Cheers Rog
  16. Nice! Did you try and join up the front end at all? I can't think of a way to do it off the top of my head but it would finish it off nicely... You going to try a minifig scale version next....??? HaHaHa! Cheers Rog PS - For those of you that are not fans of the show the Red Dwarf ship is 6 miles (10 km) long, 5 miles (8 km) tall, and 4 miles (6 km) wide!
  17. Love the use of the hinges for the curved edge of the wheel arches on the front end of the cab. Genius! Oh yeah, and the rest is great too. You just need to do a proper Swedish truck as well now! Cheers Rog
  18. I think it looks like a taxi because the cabin part of the body is too long compared to the bonnet and because the body is not raised. On an SUV there should be a good sized gap between the tyres and the wheel arches which you are missing. Cheers Rog
  19. Nice idea! Shouldn't there be public area/wide corridor type space outside the meeting room? There was the little skirmish on the steps around this area... Also, a small area where C3PO gets busted before being handed in pieces to Chewy? These were bits of the Cloud City scenes that stick in my memory. Cheers Rog
  20. The superdeals are good if you want all the sets included. They're not worth it if you only want two out of the three. Baseplates you can get brand new from Lego but they're expensive. Otherwise, try Bricklink or eBay. Cheers Rog
  21. Why not? Surely a row of modular (or not modular) buildings and a road on a 50cm table would still leave room for a single straight track at the front or back of the scene? As he is looking at pf trains his track does not need to be a closed loop and straight track or pair of straight tracks with the station at the end would work fine? There's always room for trains! Cheers Rog
  22. A good report but I have a couple of observations: - As others have said the use of the term Legos was a bit irritating - especially when used by AFOLs being interviewed! - 40,000 seems a low number to me. Is this the number for the US or worldwide? They don't say... Cheers Rog
  23. I have a single loop of track (sort of long oval shape) for trains to drive around with six sidings feeding into it. The sidings have a a mix of station platforms and cargo handling accessories for the different trains. In the space I have this gives me the best mix of a drivable section of track (the loop) and room to park all the trains without having to physically take them on and off the rails. Cheers Rog
  24. I also don't think you can really compare them. They are too different. I have used Playmobil sets and concepts for inspiration for MOCs in the past! Cheers Rog
  25. Did you want to buy these items or just rent them? Considering you're asking people to break up very expensive sets these prices are way too low!! Cheers Rog
