  1. No, but we all know what he meant! Cheers Rog
  2. Hi guys Thanks for the feedback. I will take a photo of the door mechanism tomorrow. The wheels do look a little on the small side but are the same wheels as LEGO used on the 8404 coach. I have tried to keep the current LEGO range look and feel to the coach which means these wheels are appropriate. Different colour mudguards might help? That said, there are a lot of double deck coaches in the UK with small wheels. They give a lower step when boarding and allow a taller body within the height allowed. This is an example: I did look at putting some colour on the coach but there is no complete straight line from front to back making any stripes tricky. The doors are quite small but use all the available space from floor to floor. I think the black top edge makes them look smaller than they are but without that the lines of the coach are spoiled Cheers Rog
  3. V-LB-05A Hi Having recently finished sorting my sets into parts so that I can make MOCs more easily and quickly, I thought I should build a quick MOC to see how easy it was using nicely sorted pieces. The answer is that it was very easy and I am really pleased with the result - this double-decker coach. I have nicked a couple of ideas from the coach in 8404 and tried to improve in a couple of places too. This is the front 3/4 view: This is more of a side view showing that I made the all-important conversion to right hand drive so it can drive on the left (correct) side of the road: One of the features of the coach in 8404 that needed improvement was the doors so I have replaced them with more realistic plug-type doors as featured on most modern coaches. There are two doors as is common on double-deck coaches. The stairs go up over the rear axles.. This is a picture of the doors open: The offside is quite a tidy view and I am very pleased with it. The lack of doors means it's very neat indeed. Seating capacity of 15 minifigures plus the driver. The back end of the coach is quite a neat deisgn too and borrows heavily from the coach in 8404 once again. I am pleased that it doesn't look too tall for it's width. I think overall that the proportions are pretty well balanced: I hope to take some better pictures tomorrow when the light is better... Cheers Rog
  4. Why is the chauffeur wearing a radar dish on his head? Cheers Rog
  5. I prefer the photos to be in the thread. I'm not always on my PC when viewing the forum and links to other pages can be slow and annoying. Cheers Rog
  6. I paid £7.99 Cheers Rog
  7. I originally posted these comments elsewhere in the forums but I think they go better here! I got 4436 the Police Cara couple of day's ago and I am very impressed with it. It's one of the neatest and most cohesive designs of cop car there's been in City for a while now. Here's why I think this: The proportions are good (not too flat and squashed looking) The details are nice (door mirrors, flashlight, bumper bar) I really like the new colour scheme New roof piece (6x4 rather than the usual 4x4 with curves at both ends) The car fits two minifigures The detail on the new ranger figure is really good. A bit American maybe but a great new minifig nonetheless The gate/cattle grid is a bit superfluous and I'm bored of the same old villain in every police set now. I would have preferred just the cop and the car and a quid or two off the price. Thanks for the review and the multiple photos. Cheers Rog
  8. Well, I'm getting there! 26000 pieces sorted and 15000 to go so about two thirds done. So far I have 120 plastic containers (500ml) which are mainly sorted by type and size and then broken down by colour for the most popular pieces. I am plannin to get another 50 boxes tomorrow as a number of the categories of pieces are very close to filling their current boxes and will need to be split up. Current problem areas are the big pieces (train bases, XXL crane bases, a-frames, etc) as I am not sure how to store them. They are currently in plastic bags while I decide. Also, I am unsure whether to store trans pieces (bricks, plates, tiles) together or in their respective size/type category? They're altogether at the moment which looks pretty but I fear might be a pain to find specific items in future. I also need to think of the best way of sorting minifig accessories as they are plentiful and tiny..... Cheers
  9. I got 4436 the Police Car today and I am very impressed with it. Still, I'm happy with it and looking forward to finding somewhere with the other new sets in stock too! Cheers Rog
  10. I'm hoping to be finished by Jan 17!! I'm using LDD to help define the categories while I'm sorting but will probably end up with something in Excel by the time I'm done as my index. Cheers Rog
  11. 6000 pieces and 114 minifigs sorted into 75 categories so far. Haven't done any big sets yet (Creator Highway Transport x 2 will be fun...) Still, feels like I'm making progress! Cheers Rog
  12. Thanks guys. I'm mainly reusing the containers that the individual sets are currently in. These were 10 for £1 and I have more than 100 already which gives me a good starting point. They're fairly small so I will need to find something for the larger categories and larger pieces but I will worry about that as and when it happens. Making good progress so far but haven't got to any big sets yet! LDD categories is working out OK so far. The benefits are that I can let LDD decide when I'm unsure of which category to use and can refer back to it should I forget how I categorised something. Cheers Rog
  13. Hi all I've always kept my sets as sets when storing them which makes it easy to build sets as LEGO intended but time consuming when building and disassembling MOCs. So, with the Xmas break approaching I've made the decision to separate the sets and sort by part. According to BrIcklink I have 43,000 parts so it's quite a job. I've decided to sort broadly according to the LDD categories which means I don't need to decide which of the ambiguous parts go in which category. Some categories will have to broken down a bit for practical reasons I should iagin but essentially I hope to use LDD in future as a parts index. Has anyone else tried sorting using LDD as a base? Any pros, cons, tips or general advice on sorting? Cheers Rog
  14. Lights are awesome and design is nice but wheels are too small. Cheers Rog
  15. Please stop over-moderating. Thank you.

  19. Good job and looking good. Just need some totty behind the counter now... Cheers Rog
  20. Awesome MOC! The cat looks very realistic but is out of scale with the minifig. Did you use some kind of Technic pieces I'm not familiar with for the fur effect? The eyes look very realistic too. Great job. Oh yeah, and the house is nice as well... Cheers Rog
  21. Where's the cashdesk going to be? Cheers Rog
