  1. I only comment if I feel particularly strongly one way or the other about a MOC. I will also reply if there is a specific question or query within the thread that I can answer. Cheers Rog
  2. The Sears Tower is taller than the ESB by some 60 metres (442 vs 381 metres) so the scale in the pic between the two is probably not far off. Cheers Rog
  3. This fella for me: There was actually two of them in 379 Bus Station which was my first set. I've still got him and the set! Cheers Rog
  4. OK. An update for you: I have taken out one battery box and turned one of the bogies around. However I am now struggling with the cable from the bogie. I have tried running it back along the length of the bogie but it fouls on the side of the train base. There's not enough room to run it along the top of the bogie so I have run it forwards and up and in behind the nose of the train and then under the driver. It is invisible from outside but still fouls when the trains turns right. Any ideas? Thanks Rog
  5. It's because I didn't know which type of motors I had (RC or PF) and didn't know what the load on the batteries for each motor was. I didn't want to go to all the trouble of fitting two motors to find that there wasn't enough juice to run both at full power or that the batteries would get eaten up much quicker. The solution was two battery boxes which do fit OK and ensured that I would have enough current for two motors and that I knew how long the batteries would last. Thanks to this thread I am learning more and will try with just one battery box. Cheers Rog
  6. Thanks for the replies guys. So it would seem that I have two RC and two PF train motors. I have used the two PF motors In my MOC which sounds good for power then. I think I will have to try and turn the bogie around as I have no room inside for a polarity switch. I have two battery boxes inside to ensure full power to both motors so squeazing in a switch will be too much. I'll have to see what I can do with the cable as the cables take quite a long route to get between the battery boxes and there's no slack where I need it! What do the switches with the arrow markings on top of the battery boxes do? I initially hoped they might switch polarity but they don't seem to do anything...? Cheers Rog
  7. Hi I have had trains for a while now but have only today tried to MOC them. I have tried to add two motors to an engine so it can pull a long train. My motors run in opposite directions. I have tried looking on here to see how I can overcome this but have only succeeded in confusing myself over what motors I actually have! My questions therefore are as follows: 1. What are the differences between RC and PF and how do I know what I have? 2. How can I make two motors run in the same direction at the same time from the same remote? I have only remote control trains: 7898 Deluxe Cargo Train 7897 Passenger Train 7939 Cargo Train 7938 Passenger Train I have taken the motors from 7939 & 7938 and put them together in an engine but they run as opposites. Can anyone help? Cheers Rog
  8. Great review of an awesome set! I remember when this came out I wanted it for my 12th birthday in September but had to get the tedium of the August family holiday out of the way first! The holiday involved a 500 mile road trip every year and I sent the entire journey each way spotting Shell petrol stations! When I finally got the set for my birthday it was everything I had hoped for. I still have it and it takes centre stage in all my town layouts as it fits well in either Town or City layouts. One of the truly great sets! Cheers Rog
  9. From the front it looks very good. Although I do agree that the knickers need to sit a bit more flush. It also looks like there is only one central buttock..... Cheers Rog
  10. I check eBay for stuff just as I check LEGO, Amazon, Bricklink, etc. Sometimes one is cheaper than the other. More often than not they are all about the same price. eBay has one of the better interfaces and search engines but I tend to buy on price if there is a choice (which often there isn't). A couple of times a week I also check the soon to finish auctions on eBay just in case there's a bargain that everyone else has missed. Cheers Rog
  11. You're not making much sense I'm afraid. Both your issues and the way you write make you difficult to understand. Could you be more concise and then people might understand you better and give you the empathy I think you are seeking? To Summarise: You've had issues; you've complained; your complaints been resolved; you've had compensation. I don't see the problem? Cheers Rog
  12. Spot on! Great job! Cheers Rog
  13. It's nice but the engines look like they need to go back a bit along the fuselage to be perfect. Cheers Rog
  14. I've PM'd you. Cheers Rog
  15. Hi all Last night I picked up Lightning McQueen & Mater on Amazon for just £2.80 each. That's £5.60 for the pair including free postage. Not sure how many they've got left but that's a great deal. Other CARS 2 sets are on there too with £3-4 off RRP. Cheers Rog
  16. Really nice. I like that you've kept LEGO proportions while making it easily recognisable as a Tiger. Great job! Cheers Rog
  17. Nice little set with great minifigs. I'm a bit out of touch with Castle (my newest Castle set is from 1989!) and the minifigs are awesome. I might have to treat myself at the weekend after reading this review! My only criticism (I don't mind the simple carriage - remember the old 1980s treasure wagon and maiden's carriage?) is the brick on the horse should be dark bley like the harness. And you used to get a horse coloured brick and tile to make the horse complete when unharnessed.... Also, what does the king's knight's face look like without his helmet? Cheers Rog
  18. It's good with the curves. Seems more realistic as a lot of entrances to small towns happen more than being planned. Cheers Rog
  19. I constantly go through a cycle: 1. The built collection grows and grows until there is no more space in my office/LEGO room 2. The built collection stays static for a while as I deliberate over next steps taking potential dust build up vs do I really want to disassemble all this lot? 3. Everything gets taken apart and sorted 4. Start again at 1 I am lucky that my office has two tables that I am able to dedicate to LEGO which allows me to procrastinate between cycles without affecting anything else! My collection lives in a filing cabinet, in small boxes on a book case and in bigger boxes under the two tables when not assembled. Apart from newly bought sets which are built in the living room, LEGO is restricted to my office which keeps it from cluttering up the rest of the house. Cheers Rog
  20. All your minfigures appear to have gone a bit fleshy..... The hotel looks great. The retail units below the entrance level are really nice and the greebling at the top of the hotel looks fab. Great job. Cheers Rog
  21. When I build buses and coaches at this scale with steering, I install the steering wheel in the boot/engine compartment so it's hidden when stationary and still doesn't have to go through the passenger compartment (which it would if on the roof). I would also secure the rear wheels better and tidy up the wheel arch areas. I really like the front and the pod on the rear. Nice job. Cheers Rog
  22. IE9 currently has compatibility issues with several websites and with some applications (including some Microsoft web-based software!). It is so bad at the moment that I have actually setup the network at work to prevent users from downloading it. I use IE8 at work and Chrome at home and have no problems with EB. Cheers Rog
  23. I don't see why LEGO would object to you using their designs. They could sell you a set via TRU for £25 or sell you nearly the same set via Designbyme for £40. They'd be mad not to? Cheers Rog
  24. It's nice but the trailer needs some "furniture" or greebling of some sort. The decks are a bit plain. Cheers Rog
  25. I tend to end up with either train layouts with just the odd building or town layouts without trains. Space is the limiting factor. I often think about an outdoor train layout as I have plenty of garden and without the need to have power outside as all my trains are RC it would be easy to setup and could provide excellent photo ops but would be a nightmare to maintain! Cheers Rog
