  1. Sure thing! Hope these work as I tore it all apart last night... Here's the flipped portal axle and short shcok in the rear: Here's a top view with the ram extended. And here's the top view in the lowered position: And lastly,.here's the front end up close: ok, erix
  2. I don't know if this has been done before but how about a lowrider Unimog? I got the idea from flipping the portal axles over, the rest of the build is almost stock. Here it is at ride height: I had to move up the cab and bed two units to make room for the cylinders. A cylinder on each end acts on angle arms to move the short shocks into position. The pump raises the truck, gravity brings it back down! The rear end is built the same way. Here is front down "California Rake": Rear down "Taildragger": And almost laying frame, "Pancaked": You can slide a piece of paper under it when it is this low but it won't roll as the wheels are resting on the fenders, ok, erix
  3. @VFracingteam: Yes, the engines work. They are two independent V8 engines that are tied together 1:1 with the big tan gears through a middle tan gear. A short driveshaft runs from the central gear to a ring-and-pinion type arrangement using the same two gears. They are not exactly in alignment but they seem to work fine. The roll cage is an integral part of the body so it looks kind of odd with the panels off.. erix
  4. Hi Folks, Let me start off by saying I really wish Lego would make a smaller diameter motorcycle tire... This is a project I started last year after posting images of my first flat four powered digger in this thread: http://www.eurobrick...topic=75987&hl= I suggested building a multi-engine dragster as kind of a joke and then but the more I thought about ,the more interesting it sounded. I did some internet research and found a lot of information on Tommy Ivo's twin Buick powered dragster from the early sixties: http://twotogo.homes...m/TommyIvo.html and http://www.standard1.../TwinBuick.html The more I look at it, the more I love it! I built the front end first, and then the frame. It has a tiny bit of suspension travel from the rubber links. I then built a twin V6 powerplant but it just didn't look right. I needed more cylinders! So I got a Unimog 8110 for Christmas, built it, tore it apart after a week, and went back to work on the dragster. Then I got stuck with the body. The red panels I have from other projects wouldn't come together nicely to make the body and so it sat for 6 months without any work. Then, this past weekend it hit me - make it orange! I used almost every orange part in the Unimog to make the body, only having to raid my son's collection for a few 1x plates. It could probably be shaped a little better if I bought more orange panels but I need more Legos like I need another hole in my wallet. The engines turn with the back wheels but the steering link is non-functional. I built a work-gear mechanism to make it work but I couldn't fit the body arpund it! I kept the Mercedes Benz star on the car out of homage to the Unimog 8110 set. Now I think I'll keep it like this for a little while but, after seeing this video of Ivo's quad-engine dragster, my gears are turning... I've got two more big tires but I'll need to buy more engines, and those fancy new hubs from the 42000..... Brickshelf folder here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=530280 erix
  5. Very cool bike! I love the engine made of stud parts but so smooth... Post pics of your full size bike when done!
  6. Thanks Jeroen! That car came together over only a few days and I've always liked the way the panels tuck in right alongside the motor. Yes, I'm hoping he sees my obsessive research of the Unimog set as a sign! Alrhough I could really use those big tires and wheels right now... ok, erix
  7. Samanen, that's a cool photo. I forgot about all the wacky multi-engined contraptions those early racers thought up! Better start a new digger build, crank-driven superchargers anyone? ok, erix
  8. Thanks for the kind welcome! Here is a take on the Monster Garage 3-wheeler they made with a giant 6 cylinder diesel engine and little else. http://www.trombinos...erbilt1972.html No build sequence but pretty simple. Next a 60's style "digger" dragster powered by an air-cooled VW engine. Again, this one is made with only the 4048 parts: Build Sequence is located here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=516465 Last is a V8-powered version of the Sprint Car wirh big wings like a World of Outlaws style car: ok, erix
  9. Howdy Folks, This is a very inspiring forum, I hope I can inspire others as well! I came back to legos after 20 years with a gift from my kids, the 8048 buggy. This Midget Sprint Car MOC is from that set alone: Build sequence is here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=514439 Also on Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.com/sets/erix/sprint-car I've since got more sets, the 8051 bike being a favorite. This is a custom Bobber Hardtail: Build sequence is here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=515999 Also on Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.com/sets/erix/bobber ok, erix
  10. Hi Everyone, I've been lurking here for many weeks and thought I'd better join to show some of the things I've built. I work mostly with Technic but sometimes work with my sons bricks. ok, erix
