Hello everyone - I have a trip I wasn't expecting that just came together these last two days. Unfortunately I will be without wifi March 4th-March 12th. I am hoping that someone might be able to run the battle in my current quest during those days, so that there is a less of a lull? If not, I apologize for the gap, players! We're close to done regardless. (And I will be able to run around round or two before I go, depending on when actions get in!)

"I believe it has been that long, yes!" Martin rubs his chin, bemused by the intervening years or perhaps just the passage of time in general. "The Lion Knights have kept on establishing themselves on Land, particularly in the north. They seem to prefer to keep to themselves, but I imagine that sooner or later they will need to join the rest of us. The world grows more and more united and connected, and I suspect that Uland will continue to do the same." "It's as good as it can be to meet you," says Filip. "My name is Filip Fenix. That's a good plan your friend has. Whoever falls behind stays behind. Alas, tis the way of the world." OoC: More significant update coming tomorrow.

"Please, put away your purse. As I said, your accommodations are on me tonight." With a winning smile he lays his hand on Annienal's purse and ushers it back towards her pocket. "Hm, glad to meet you!" The Commodore beams as Heckz bows. It is easy to tell that though he is well respected, he is not the sort of man who people bow to all that often. His smile remains plastered on his face as Heckz leans in and whispers, and the Commodore sweeps his eyes over the others... but mostly keeps his gaze on Heckz. "I will be sure to keep my eye on everyone in the group. I find that actions often reveal the content of ones character, as opposed to gossip." "No, just us. The boys loading up the lumber are just hands hired at the Trading Post. The Bonaparte soldiers who have survived the previous attacks have fled south to Eubric, which was their original destination, but it is my understanding that they have been little help in identifying their attackers." With a big day ahead of them, and probably some danger, the heroes retire early. Rising with the sun the next morning they are greeted by Commodore Largus and take off down the road. They have five hours of smooth travel before they spy a single man approaching from afar. At first uneasy, they quickly recognize Filip Fenix, who greets them with a wave and a soggy approximation of a smile. "Hope you don't mind a little extra company," he says. "Your shade invited me along for the journey, and I thought, why not? No better here than there."

OoC: No worries, Siercon, sorry that the blackout fell at a bad time for you. Consider your note delivered, but we will move forward! "I am glad to meet you, Siercon," says the Commodore, taking stock of the shade and his gear. "You look like you'll be able to give these bandits a good fight." The Pale Mermaid is filled with a diverse crowd, many of whom seem to be travelers, which makes sense considering it is a prominent Trading Site. "I am indeed! I have some boys loading up the carts right now. I believe it would be best for us to take a rest here tonight, and then begin the journey back tomorrow. I will provide for your accommodations, of course. We'll need you fresh if we want to best these bandits." "No, you're just on time!" The Commodore smiles. "I arrived in town only this morning myself. I generally oversee Hinckwell operations on the northern portion of the island, but Blackgull and Heinrich want a strong steady hand to ensure that whatever it blocking the road is cleared. I'm not much of a fighter myself, but I can hold my own if need be, and I'm an expert at making sure the field turns in our favor. I believe between all of us we will succeed where the Bonapartes have failed."

With neither Darksten nor Annienal apparently willing to take action, Justin Fetherhead cowers behind the counter and finally passes Heckz a key for free. "Better to have others pay less later than to never get paid again," he theorizes. Siercon says good night to Filip Fenix and the heroes turn in for the night. Shining sun and cool breezes greet them the next day, and they travel relatively peacefully, reaching Bric'Lin by night. The Pale Mermaid is the town's local watering hole, and the heroes make their way over. "Althior?" calls a voice from one of the tables. "It's been years! I had hoped I might know one of the heroes involved with this little expedition! How have you been?" The Hinckwell representative turns to the other heroes. "Hello, my name is Commodore Martin Largus. I'm pleased you've answered our call for assistance."

"You cannot promise my safety?" quakes Justin. "I had thought with so many *sniffle* armed warriors I might be *sniffle* safe. But I should have known better." "This Inn should be safe enough," says Filip. "As safe as anything can be, at least. I've been here for about a month, and haven't had any trouble. Though poor Justin over there has slowly lost customers. I'd feel bad leaving him now... but if there were ever a time to give trouble to the Inn, you must agree this isn't it. It's been just me for a few weeks, why give trouble now that there are more people instead of less?" Filip blows his nose. "Good to meet you, Siercon, or at least as good as it can be to meet anyone. Nothing going around that I know of. This is just the way I look. And if anything will help it, it'll be the brandy." He manages a weak smile. "As for my skills, I'm a Mystic Knight, or at least as close to one as I can be. I can tell you are adept with ether as well. What do you practice?" Justin seems just about confused and horrified enough to give Heckz a key, free of charge, when Annienal breaks in. Justin's hand wavers over the key, waiting to see what happens between the heroes.

"I can *sniffle* make a Hurricane, I guess. Let me dig around for some *sniffle* supplies." Justin ducks behind the counter and Darksten hears bottles clinking and clanking together as he rattles through them. Remerging Justin gives probably the closest to a smile as he can get. "That'll be twenty gold a piece, sir. How many would you like?" "Oh, yes. I should have been more clear." Pouting, Justin turns to look at the fire. "That man is Filip Fenix. When I said there was no new customers, I meant *sniffle* that. Mr. Fenix has been staying with me for about a month." "Oh... no..." trembling visibly Justin inches towards Darksten and Annienal. "Is this man with you? I will *sniffle* give you a Hurricane for free if you can assure he will not *sniffle* harm me." Siercon sits down opposite Filip, who puts down his shield and staff and accepts the drink. He is a middle aged man with rheumy eyes that constantly drip tears. "There's danger everywhere," says the man with a heavy sigh. "If not here, I'd be in danger somewhere else. That's just the way of the world today, ain't it?"

Mulled Wine - Causes the inspired-effect, doubling the target's current and maximum health for the duration of one battle. Costs 47 gold. "My name is Justin Featherhead," sniffles the man. "I can *sniffle* go find some pickled sausage and some bread. The bread will be *sniffle* stale. Everyone is too afraid to come this way." "Oh no... rooms will cost ten gold each," says Justin. "I'm afraid *sniffle* I don't give discounts to Sungold members." The door of the Inn opens and a man comes in. He and Justin nod to each other before the man goes to relax by a large fireplace in the corner.

I really was hoping to have hosted it already, but I want to give the factions some forward movement. I'm afraid of losing some players I was hoping to take on it if I don't get a chance to host it soon though, as life seems to keep rearing up and taking people's time.

I think the Harlot is a pretty good support class, but could certainly use a minor upgrade. It's definitely not meant to be a hard hitting class. I have minor plans for one of the arch-demons, once I get around to the final quest of my storylines, but I'm focusing on getting the factions rolling for now. Like WBD said, I think everyone would be welcome to pitch quests. I know the QMs would really appreciate it.

The signage outside the Inn labels it as the Weeping Inn. "Welcome," sniffles the morose barkeep. "Are you hoping to stay the night?" The Inn is conspicuously empty.

"Hmph. Scared of demons." With a shrug Yu Shu turns away from the heroes (most notably Heckz). "I think that's everything. We will be waiting for you upon your return at the site of the new Fort. Lane can take you back to the mainland." The heroes return to their boat and Lane paddles them back to Eubric, grumbling under his breath the whole time about how inefficient it was to get everyone out there for such a short meeting... He waves farewell to them at the docks. "You know the way from here, I assume." The heroes step outside the city. Are they ready to depart?

"Not strange to steal if they're trying to stop the deliveries," muses Blackgull. "I think they don't want the lumber. They just don't want us to have it. I wouldn't put it past the Wolfgang. Even certain members of the Crescent Union would be willing to strike against us." "But that's all conjecture, which is useless. The attackers are primarily humans regardless of who they're working for. I can't say for sure if they're accompanied by anything else. My boys and women either stay and fight until the last, or beat a swift and strategical retreat. Both cases make it difficult to get sufficient reports."

"The Lion Knights are powerful defenders of Uland, but they are not yet under the Sungold banner. I am sure that the Hinckwells are working on it. For that reason, it would make little sense to commandeer their fort. Besides that, I believe that the new Sungold... protectors would do best situated near Eubric. If they are going to work alongside the Watch they will need to be here, and it wouldn't do to remove them entirely from their families. High ranking Bonapartes are allowed accommodation on this very island, there's no reason to treat our new soldiers any differently." "Glad to hear we have one person with a level head," says Blackgull. "I don't believe we've met." "His name is Darksten. He was one of the heroes that helped me apprehend those Slavers we had a few months back." "You'll be glad to know that they were dealt with, then. Slaving is not something that will be tolerated in Eubric or our surrounding seas any longer." Before responding Obero runs his eyes over Heckz as if noticing him for the very first time. "We will of course expect valued members of the Sungold Alliance to be at the Fort whenever they are able," says Obero. "To bring their skill and expertise to new troops." Without moving her burning gaze off of Heckz, Yu Shu keeps her lips sealed. "First thing first. We have been having trouble getting the lumber shipments from Bric'Lin all the way to Eubric. I believe you will be able to remedy that situation. In Bric'Lin look for our contact, Commodore Martin Largus. He will help you load up the shipment. If someone were to attack you, I believe it will be on your return trip. Are you ready to depart?"
