Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return - Hovels
Zepher replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
As Boomingham walks he uses both his grating stones on Scupperer and both his Shining Polishes on Vest of Faded Trials. Catching hold of the falling flyer he gives it a read and passes it over to Eric with a snort. He also takes stock of his fellow heroes and, perhaps through some sort of divine intervention, notices Torald is lacking a Phoenix Essence. He takes one out of his bag and passes it to Battle Mage. "What are we thinking?" he asks of his party. "Walk in and ask some questions of anyone we find, or something else?" OoC: Is Skuld with us? -

“Looks like we’ll be playing baby sitter,” chirps Boomingham, runningy his eye over Torald, Ezeran, and Petaldan, all heroes he didn’t know. “I’d appreciate the help.” -
Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return

"I'll be going to look for the Oracle. Atramor seems to want to go to the Dragon House, which seems as good a place as any to start as well. We need to rally power and information. Karie will lead the team to Ulric. I think it's simply best to have everyone sound off their intention immediately so we can move swiftly." To the Oracle Boomingham Torald (?) Hoke (?) To Ulric Karie Monk Pretzel Kiray To the Dragon House (or the Hovels) Atramor OoC: I understand wanting to split the party for balance but I trust WBD to figure it out - we don't have too massive a disparity save for the few tanks who make it impossible no matter who they're paired with, so I think everyone should just pick what they're most interested in! But that's just my two cents. -

Boomingham downs a mead, nostrum, and smelling salts. "Leave the loot. If we fail, we won't need it. If we succeed, I don't want to be barred from this establishment." He inhales deeply, surveying the bodies with gnawing regret. Even still, the idea of separating from his comrades made him nervous. Not for him, but them. Out of his sight who knows what could happen to them - not that he could necessarily stop it, but if he's not there he can't even try. Hoke, the Nord, even Karie... and especially the rogue who once had been a friend to him, Skrall, Ellaria and Nyx. He approaches Atramor. "Listen, boy, if you die I'll kill you." "The most important thing is spreading out Phoenix Essences, especially to the parties without healers. Althior and Matthias should be able to do a good job of keeping their parties up. Besides that, seems me, Atramor and the Monk are going to do a good job of being able to patch folks up. Does anyone need anything from us before we split up?" Boomingham passes by Thorlar as he goes to speak to the others. "We're good," he assures the dwarf before drawing up next to Eric and Hoke. "Which way are you chaps leaning? Can't tell if I want you watching my back or making sure everyone else pulls out of this." Boomingham laughs. "It's funny. You can die for some forty odd years, become immune for only, what, six, and suddenly you're mortal again and it seems the most unnatural thing in the world." -
I don’t agree with someone being able to hijack the role playing for their battle purposes. I don’t really have a side in this but this conversation can be carried out in character too.

Boomingham growls as he is wounded. He begins to heal himself, before recalling that is a power he has all but forgotten. Still, what is he to do? Press forward, as the Assassin said. Boomingham targets Paladin Infantry B from the front row. -

OoC: Oops! Major apologies - working 12 hour shifts quite a bit this week but today is the last one and then I should have some more time to focus! Boomingham glances at Hoke and the Monk he doesn’t know particularly well. “I think that Watch Captain might be up to you boys.” Boomingham repeats his attack but something about the battle clicks in his head and he addresses Karie and Atramar through the fighting. “Before we go our separate ways we pool the Phoenix Essences we got and split them evenly between the groups, got that?” Not for the first time Boomingham wishes Ellaria an her roots of life were still kicking around, unable to remember if the remaining Druid had been assigned to his party. -

Boomingham snorts, but smiles. "Yeah, well, looks like it might just be time to prove that." He exhales sharply, glancing over at the Orc. He doesn't know if he should trust the Wolfgang or if the Original Veterans are really doing anything all that wrong. Change isn't necessarily for the bad, and if all he's fighting for is for what he knows it hardly seems fair to put the Watch and Paladins in danger, especially if the Veterans he's defending are the corrupt ones. "Karie, these blokes are your ticket to Ulric. We can cover you." He turns to the Watch and Paladin and cracks his knuckles. "Glad I don't have my swords. No reason to see you die, but I'm not sure I can get behind this new ruling circle all lickity split, especially if they're trying to cut into the night life." -
It is fun to realize what a long history we have. Lots of characters I’ve interacted with throughout the years are still floating about, even if we’ve lost a lot too.

Heroica RPG - Quest #159: An Unexpected Return
Zepher replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
“Don’t fret. The Temple team will be able to handle itself.” Ignoring Karie’s rant - if she was happy to go with the Wolfgang group then his dealings with her had worked just fine - he returns to Hoke, Althior, Matthias, and Atramar. “Question is still the same. Put our best fighters together, or try to spread them out?” Boomingham continues his survey of the Room, spotting the pungancious dwarves ambassador. “Part of me feels like we should just let them fend for themselves. But I think we can use all the help we have. Karie can handle herself well. Atramar, you seem interested in the Dragon House. I’d ask one of you others to accompany me to the Temple, but from there I think it’s best we spread ourselves out. Keep an eye on the more junior members.” -

Boomingham drinks his mead. “Just the one drink. For the time being.” “That’s the truth of it. Wouldn’t mind having Nyx here, or Skrall for that matter...” Boomingham surveys the crowd again, picking out a few more familiar faces. The Nord would be useful... “Aye. It’s just a question of speed and numbers.” Boomingham chews on his cheek. “We split up and lead different groups? Or put our best bets all together and allow the others to fend for themselves?” Boomingham nods to Althior as the man addresses him. He doesn’t know much about the magic user except that he’s the reason he beat out Guts as King. Boomingham scowls at the Paladin and Watch. “Don’t like that.” Then he notices Karie and winces further. He clears his throat and approaches her. “I agree. Both of those are good places to start. I can go check the Temple with a group if you’d like to go hear out the Wolfhead.” Boomingham grimaces. “Don’t like his involvement at all. But if he’s going to be involved one way or the other, guess we should at least see where he stands. And I know you have a history of getting criminals on your side.” He winks. Boomingham picks up the Sungold Medallion and flips it in the air a few times. “This won’t do ya much good now.” He hands the medallion back to Matthias and auks air through his teeth. He’d expected to become King under order, not chaos. He’d have needed to grow into challenge. But this... “I’ve been a King during a war before. And I was good at it. Damn good. We’re all heroes, we can make our choices. But I’d be glad to lead the way to the Temple. For the time being.” -

Boomingham’s face cracks into a smile, especially once Atramaor buys a round for everyone. “Thought you might be dead. Should have known to not get my hopes up.” “Hm. My young apprentice,” Boomingham laughs as he waves to the much stronger man. “Glad to see you’ve come to serve under me again in a time of need.” Boomingham winces at the deaths of the veterans, and against his best intentions prickles a little at the special Veteran. But when the young Dyric Rone begins lecturing Boomingham stands up. ”Dont presume to talk for all of us,” grumbles Boomingham. Turning to the veteran: “I don’t think a bit of ol’ leadership would do the city wrong. Real question is if this is the right type of leadership. The Hall has stopped a threat or two, and the Houses might not be the best of people, but they’re hardly the worse.” Boomingham reflects briefly on the Founder’s Ball. “So I guess our real question is what the Hel are these folks?” -

Boomingham, a former King and almost King again... finds himself in a ramshackle hole without any weapons. His eyes are first drawn to his old companions, or what is left of them, but then they drift over to the pirate... wearing new cloths, but the same man surely... Natnail... Boomingham glowers and wishes he had his swords on him, but goes instead to the bar for a drink. He turns to the mushroom-headed man. "Any other news round these parts? Just the Shadeaux that were picked up, or others as well? What about Umbra? Hear what happened to her?" -
Boomingham snores drunkenly in a corner only dimly aware of big things happening around him.

Good to see old faces @JimBee @CMP and @Khorne coming out of the woodwork! I still pop my head in every day just to see what everyone is talking about. I guess I should eventually reveal what my finale quest was going to be - it was labor intensive and I moved away from my Lego, and most everyone who had a stake in it had already disappeared from the game so there didn't seem much sense in hosting it. That being said, I still want to explain it one day, and often still think back to all the fun role playing I did with some of the good ol' gang - all great characters and players I'm sure I won't forget even once we reach a conclusion here. Hopefully I'll be around for the final quest, WBD! And I am busy, but wouldn't at all be opposed to maybe rounding up some folks for a Roll20 game if anyone is so inclined. Can't believe I hosted that many quests, @Palathadric. Woof.

MOC - Mad Max - V8 Interceptor (Beefed Up ATV-Version)
Zepher replied to misupix's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
The engine on the interceptor looks great, as does the exhaust and the "beefiness" of the wheels and back. And I like the use of the medieval style window as a grate on the front of the Wasteland Warriors' car. I get that you're going for the sleek black look, but I feel like both vehicles could benefit from a color highlight here or there, just to give them some more energy. Even just speckling in some rust might help.- 10 replies

Wow - awesome. Love how heavy but still light on it's feet and looks, and the asymmetrical arms is a really nice touch - both look well suited for their function (love the gas cans wired to the back of the flame shooter arm). The use of the yellow pieces on the chest to create a sort of emblem is nice detailing as well. I love the gas mask as well - it doesn't read super obvious from up front (still a cool face, just wasn't immediately obvious it was gas mask inspired to me) but the side views are super nice. Good work!

Yeah quests take way too long to update. As for me, it got to the point where the battles were nearly impossible to calculate in under an hour, and I just didn't want to/have the time in my life to spend an hour every day doing math. I also moved and do not have the space, currently, for my LEGO. Which is sad, but also makes running quests near impossible. I would love to see some finale and would be happy to try to contribute. I'm also not opposed to some 2.0 game. I have some mechanics kicking around both of how to make leveling up fun but not game breaking too fast, and how to make it so the burden of the story doesn't fall on any one person. But first we wrap this up, and then see where we go from there.

Keep forgetting to say a big thank you. Was a huge blast to get back into things. Some of the playing after my death was a little confusing to me, especially just blocking Finn two nights in a row to confirm he was the killer (I thought maybe there was some shenanigans behind the scenes but maybe not? Anyway, it felt obvious the real killer just had to not kill again to make everyone think it was Finn). But obviously things become more clear once you're out of the game. The U-M and Duvors link really threw me for a loop, and I guess we should have been cautious (honestly, we were still cautious) but it was a bad combination of things: both that a townie was linked to a member of the scum team and that the member of the scum team was the godfather made it VERY difficult to guess, in my opinion. Maybe a few too many wrinkles, but only in that one case. All that being said, it really was a blast to get back into things with some old friends (WF, TPRU, Draggy, Shadows [briefly!]) and some newer friends (Duvors, though I think the deck was stacked slightly in your favor with the way U-M shook out you still played a masterful end game). I'd love for there to be another game, and I'm even thinking of maybe hosting one if I ever get my LEGO to my new place!

Wow absolutely fantastic - really captured the most important features well (for me that tongue sticking out a little and the freaky front teeth are what really sell it!)
