Well, I'd say this comic wasn't a very good introduction to your character, since we didn't really learn anything new about him (he just shot people). Also, to my understanding "chings" are a faction, not a company, so they can't really have a "C.E.O.". I also hope that when the game starts, nobody assumes they can just march into someone's office and kill everyone. I just hate godmodders (i.e. people who make invincible, all-powerful characters). But the office was nicely built, and your use of "special effects" was nice.

But with the raised baseplate, the walls don't have to be taller than a few bricks. It seems you forgot to take the height added by the baseplate in consideration. You also have to think about the accessibility of the inside of the castle. If all the walls would be very tall, it would be quite difficult for children to play with the interior. I really like the raised baseplate, it adds to the interesting architecture and gives shape to the whole structure, and the slopes and gaps add playability. I fail to see what's so negative about it, really.

Now this is an old castle I can wholly appreciate, unlike that boring grey rectacle called King's Castle. Not only does this castle look great, it also has a plethora of playable elements, loads of minifigs (with great variety as well) and many rare or even exclusive pieces like the raised baseplate, the horse bardings and the flag. I'd love to get this set at some point in time.

What? This is an eastern horse, and it's the first one we get.

Ouch, cruel! This comic was actually quite funny, I like this sort of "villain" humor. *sarcasm* Samantha sure is glad to be working for someone like Dave... */sarcasm*

Oh, okay... I now believe that Hamley's has got the preliminary pictures up, too. The box-art is much more trustworthy to me than just a picture of the set. I think the horse and the bush beat the one extra minifig any time. And we get the shirtless Dastan in the Ostritch Race set anyway.

Wait a minute... This Desert Attack is something at least I haven't seen before. It looks very similar to the Hassassins' Hide-Out, but lacks the horse and the bush, and has an extra minifig and a shirtless Dastan. Looks to be a perfect "battle pack" for those of you who want an army of nomads, for example.

Oh my gawd, you actually had me going "You chauvinisti...MWAHAHAHA!!!" If it weren't for the fourth picture, I would've kicked your butt, but that made it all okay. Loving the humor, loving the building!

MOC: Airbus A380
Sandy replied to reload's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
An absolutely stunning creation! Being a cut-out it's actually loads more interesting than a full model, at least to me. It's just so great to see all the details in the interior (I snickered at the "Snakes on the Plane" reference). I'm just wondering, does it really have realistic proportions? It just looks so huge compared to the minifigs and the vehicles... On the other hand, I've only seen big, multi-floor planes from afar, so I can't really tell. The power-function is another great addition to this highly interesting MOC, although I do feel sorry for those poor children in the choir, cause they're getting sucked into the turbines, being where they are. -

I find it funny how nobody has dared to make a female character (except me, of course). I know you want someone you can relate to, but being someone completely else is much more fun. And in this crowd, it's much easier to stand out as a female than yet another young man with issues. I'd have no trouble playing a male character, I just knew there'd be next to no female characters in this game if I didn't sign up as one. Thus I created a "kind, innocent girl" character that's a total opposite of the strong, slightly insane women I usually like to play as. I greatly enjoy the originality of Tereglith's and Disturbia's characters, though. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Sandy replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's not computer-generated, just heavily retouched with a photo-manipulation program. Why would they make a "dull" picture like that with a computer when it takes a much less effort to just photograph it? The picture in the yellow advertisement that showed the figs in all those weird positions was of course computer generated, but in this new picture the figs are just standing there holding the accessories. Anyway, it doesn't even matter if the picture's real or not. The actual figs you'll get are not virtual in any case. Resizing, removing backgrounds and cropping does that to pictures, you know? -
Adding to Jipay's words, this place is not a dictatorship, either. This site is not meant for just the admins and mods, it's for the whole community to enjoy. The staff makes up rules to ensure this place remains enjoyable to the target group, not just out of a whim. In other words, the staff tries to cater to everybody's needs, not just their own. That's exactly why they should listen to the general userbase, and pick up things that could improve the community. Listening doesn't mean obeying, though. I've always disliked this whole "if you don't like something, then leave" attitude, since it leaves little room for constructive feedback. You can't efficiently lead a community as big as this with arrogance and stubbornity.

I have a long experience with games like this, and I can tell you that most likely at least a third of the people in your list will only post once or twice max. and then fade. It's harder to keep a hold of the players in a "loose" game like this, where everyone aren't in the same place at the same time (like in Mafia and Mystery games), but each have to contribute to the overall story on their own or in smaller groups. So I wouldn't worry about having too many players if I were you, I would worry about having enough active players. And in simple math, the more players you have, the more activity you have a chance to get. Just be sure to start the game with a captivating scene or event, to give all the players an incentive to start posting, rather than just saying "be where you want, do what you want". I hope this helps, rather than confuses you!

A great creation, very much like an official set. I was just telling people to stop whining over IJ-sets that were never released and build their own versions of their favorite scenes. Frankly put, this scene would've probably never been released officially, since it's a bar fight scene. Alcohol mixed with fighting, not very kid-friendly I'd say (not that the IJ-sets ever were really kid-friendly to begin with). But back to the MOC itself, the bar counter could've had some sort of action element to it, like maybe breaking up or something. And that torso for Marion... not the best choice for a woman, even though the shirt itself is rather accurate for the scene. Maybe the official Marion's tan torso would've been better, with tan arms?

Why don't you build one yourself, since you have pretty much all the necessary minifigs (and the crusaders you can make from Castle figs)? Isn't that the purpose of LEGOs, that you can build anything you want? I know an ending license leaves people craving for more, but honestly though, would people's pleas ever end? There would always be "that one scene" that hasn't been released in a set yet. There's no way TLG could appease all fans, so it's quite ridiculous to start petitions over things like this. So I say you should quit crying over a dead theme and be grateful you got a healthy two years' worth of sets.
-
Yeah, a clever idea, and not a bad comic either.
-
What makes you say that? Computerbug hasn't said anything about a limit to the amount of players, and you aren't late by any means - the game hasn't even started it. So quit the pity-party and join the real party!

And here we can observe the strange bonding rituals of the S.T.E.E.L. Fascinating, isn't it? They are simple lifeforms, indeed.

Sorry, I remembered wrong. There is, however, one solitary "token black guy" in the Battle of Alamo set. About the universality of the yellow skin, I personally have great troubles seeing yellow minifigs as having anything other than "caucasian" skin tone. Like in the Simpsons, they use different skin tones for people of different color. But I guess in classical Legoland, there are no countries, no ethnicities and no varying skin tones. We each just have to decide if it's more of a positive or a negative thing. I personally can see both sides to that. On the other hand, there is no discrimination based on how someone looks. But on the other hand, there is just one, uniform look that everyone adheres to, and that look is the Western middle class appearance.

Umm, you just did the exact same thing you reprimanded us for. Perhaps you shouldn't try to play moderator next time?
-
No I didn't. LEGO nudity = okay, LEGO nudity with real nudity = not okay (at least in this forum, in my opinion). So you are. I believe the reasons why people do risque creations are varied, some want to have a laugh while some want to make a statement. Maybe someone wants to cause a ruckus to get people discussing, have you thought about that? It all boils down to us humans wanting to express ourselves, to make our opinions and preferences heard and seen, and LEGO creations is one way of doing that. Would you really want to deny that, just so nobody gets offended? Do you really think boring and safe is the right way to be? Just wondering...
-
Haha, that image made me laugh, not anything else. It's a funny MOC, not sexually arousing (I hope). That's the point of pornography - it arouses people sexually. I really, really hope there aren't people who get off by licking female minifigs or posing them in naughty ways, but of course those people exist, unfortunately. The fact remains that the large majority of people aren't aroused by seeing all-yellow minifigs, so pictures showing them can't really be counted as porn. The conclusion is that anybody who is offended by it is a silly prude. It's equal to being offended to see animals in the zoo mating (too bad there are those kind of people, as well). So I beg of you, mods & admins, do not censor or remove MOCs made of pure LEGO even if they depicted anything. LEGO is also a form of making art, and no one gets hurt in the process of making it, so there's no reason to shun it. If someone posted a picture of a female minifig sucking his dick, that would be the no-go area for me. As I said, censorship is the enemy of free expression.

I misspelled it too, but you can just look at your first post to see where the mistake comes from. There's a solitary "a"-article right next to the acronym, making it look it belongs to it unless read carefully. So sorry about it. And I reasoned that since my character works for the company and because of her medical condition, they aren't pushing her to get the chip yet (that would be quite suspicious, wouldn't it, since the chip is marketed as an entertainment device). I'm sure the "big baddie" would include her in the last batch of people to get the chip. Just one question: how many more people are do you want to recruit before starting the game?
-
Uh... Read the bio? You didn't give much info at all on the Chings, so I figured my character belonged to that group since she's from the company. But to answer your question, Samantha is not "bad" as in evil, she just works for the company and finds out that it's rotten. She doesn't really want to hurt anyone. Unless you thought the company was one of those cheesy "mwahaha, everyone working here is pure evil and want to destroy the world - even the cleaners are armed with machineguns!"-type of organizations, because that would be just... I don't know, childish? But it's your call, since it's your game. Just tell me if I need to change anything.

I also mix my heads, but I often at least try to make up an excuse for it (like in my comics, fleshies are either sickly or belong to another race). You should just be brave and ignore the nay-sayers if you want to mix up your heads. Or you can choose not to. There's really no right or wrong way to create MOCs, other people just prefer to have them certain way. I too think there's great faces in both yellow-only and flesh-only. Especially the heads of the female Indy-characters are really expressionate and fun. But since yellow has been the norm since the birth of the minifig, there's of course a much larger variety of it. I'm actually waiting for more variety in other skin colors than just the two. It looks like Prince of Persia will offer much of that, even though there's still no female faces in the "minority" skin tones. But yeah, this issue has been debated time and time again, and you'll probably find that AFOLs are quite divided on this matter. But as I said, do what you think is best yourself.
