  1. The Black Knight should mention if they want to give up health BEFORE the results are calculated, but they will not lose that health if they don't hit anything. Yes, the spirit will attack immediately on the turn it is summoned. If in a later round the evoker takes a turn before the spirit and gets a SHIELD for the second time, the spirit will perform a Summon Burst and vanish without attacking anymore. Hope I made it clearer now.
  2. "Haha, if only I could brag about catching all these marvelous beast with my own hands! Alas no, I have an expert group of hunters and tamers working for me. Why, if you happen to find an exceedingly rare animal that I am missing from my collection, I would be delighted to pay you handsomely if you brought it to me. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to return to my duties." Marmaduc leaves the party's presence. The park is still crowded, though, so any attempt to release either the Metasimian or the unicorn would not go unnoticed. What will the party do now?

  4. The party enters the room with the staircase, and the group of pirates finally notices them. "Hey, those don't look like our guys!" one of the marauders shouts. 5. Thanks for the compliments, guys! I really love minifigs, so I have quite an extensive collection of them now. There's quite many of them, and they're all mixed and matched from several different minifigs, so you should probably be more specific. Which parts are you interested in?
  6. The party takes a closer look, and see that the group consists of five pirates and a monkey. Will the party approach them?
  7. "Neigh! Whinny! <Undead is undead., no matter what the species. Turning corpses alive requires sinister magic, that much I know. Now, will you please let me drown in my own misery?>" "<Well met, Thothwick. Since the menagerie is closed at night-time, there is only one guard present, and even he sleeps through most of the night. So you are right, if you wish to free me, doing so during the night would be best. As for the herbs I was collecting, I unfortunately lost them during the scuffle, along with all my belongings. I still cannot fathom how those men could get me confused with a common gorilla, since I was carrying a sickle and a basket of herbs... Anyway, I cannot pay you anything in return for my freedom, but I can offer you my help and talents in druidism. It is the least I can do if you get me out of here.>"
  8. Actually, if the players in Quest#14 would have opted to visit the alchemists first, they would have met Madame Binks Ladybug. But alas, that was not to be, so she still remains as useless as her SW counterpart.
  9. OoC: As you wish. The party decides to sneak into the dining room that lies beyond the kitchen. Luckily it is dimly lit, and the group of pirates who are drinking and playing cards on the other end of the long table do not take notice of them. The party creeps in front of the big fireplace onto the left-hand door. Peeking through it, they see a room with a wooden staircase and another group of pirates next to it. There is an open door on the opposite side of the room. What will the party do now?
  10. The unicorn eyes Bartholomew suspiciously. "Neigh! <What do you want? Have I not suffered enough?>" "<Finally, someone who can understand me! I have been trapped in this cage with these filthy monkeys for a month already! I am Hoptet, a druid of the Manaki tribe. I was collecting herbs in the forest one day when these hairless men came and captured me. Please, help me out! I cannot bear this captivity any longer!>"
  11. I was waiting for Peppermint to publish her list of NPCs, but since the pictures of all of the major families have been requested many times already, I'll post them here in advance. Enjoy!
  12. I have not planned for one, but maybe I can come up with something. No, please do not add your own items into the game if you're not hosting a quest. They will only confuse the system. I don't want people coming to me with questions like "I got this strong stick, what can I do with it?". I am willing to accept the faux battles in the Heroica Hall AS LONG AS NOBODY GAINS ANYTHING FROM THEM. If people start making up their own rewards, I will have to ban these battles. Like I said, there will be a PvP arena opening some time in the future that will have rewards for the battles, so please wait for it.
  13. Results of Round Six of the Pirate Kitchen Battle: Eric vs. Pirate Chef - Special Damage >Erdathcath vs. Pirate Chef - Shield (Triple Shot) >Ad-Hoh (Darkness) vs. Pirate Maid - Miss Christopher vs. Kitchen Rat (Dark Grey) - Special Damage Hybros vs. Kitchen Rat (Dark Grey) - Shield (Mug) Maurice vs. Kitchen Rat (White) - Critical Hit The party is protected by Sentinel again this round. The chef tries to burn all the heroes with his sausages, but they are all blocked by Christopher. Erdathcath Triple Shots the chef, the maid and the white rat, causing 14 damage to each of them, and taking out the rat. Ad-Hoh misses his target, and the dark grey Kitchen Rat manages to poison Christopher with its Foul Bite. Hybros Mugs the Dark Grey rat, causing 26 damage before slaying the rat, and gaining 26 at the same. Since Maurice's target is already defeated, he moves on to attack the chef instead. His critical hit takes out the fat cook, leaving only the screaming maid standing. Christopher, Hybros and Maurice are all drained of 1 health by the poison in their veins. Only one enemy remains, so the battle will continue automatically. Enemies: Pirate Maid Type: Humanoid Level: 8 Health: 15/69 Special: Scream For Help – All remaining allies of the maid will attack the one who targeted her, each causing 2 damage. If no allies are left, the maid will flee. As Erdathcath aims her arrow at the maid, the pirate decides it is best to flee. The poison does it's nasty work on Hybros, Christopher and Maurice once more before fading away. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! Sir Christopher, Erdathcath and Maurice all gain a full level of experience, while Ad-Hoh, Eric and Hybros gain half a level. The enemies drop a greasy sausage. Greasy Sausage - eating it will give +2 max. health The party looks around in the deserted kitchen. Aside from the door to the stockroom, there is only one other door to their right. ~MOVING AROUND JOLLY ROGER'S GROTTO~ The party has now managed to sneak inside the pirate's lair, and they can now start to search the pirate captain. The square tiles depict the rooms and hallways that the party can move through. The blue cone denotes the party, while the red cones depict enemy parties. Green cones are neutral NPCs. The enemies will spot the party if they move within three squares from the enemy, although the enemies cannot see around corners. Brown boxes symbolize chests and crates that can contain useful items. Open frames are doors which can be freely moved through, but closed doors either need a key to unlock or be opened from the opposite side. Jail doors always need a key to open. Beware of possible traps as well. Where will the party move now?
  14. Thothwick, Thormanil and Bluto decide to rejoin Bartholomew and Cinna at Marmaduc's Menagerie. There they encounter their companions talking to a man in a turban. The man's jaw drops as he sees Thothwick. "Is this the friend you were talking about? By the gods, he really does look like a gorilla!" What will the party do now?
  15. ~The Quest Board has been updated with a new quest (#20 by Username MDM)!~ Ellaria Arbour returned to the Heroica Hall after a long absence. With two quests on her belt, she felt she was now ready to take on new challenges. It felt good to know that her talents in healing were appreciated here, not shunned like in the village of Tumpkin. Sure, she had helped the villagers a lot, but she had always been treated with more fear than respect or admiration. She had just been a young girl with extraordinary powers, and not even she knew then that the powers came from Sylvania, the goddess of nature. But now that she knew what she was, she could accept it herself, and through that others accepted her. The cleric walked to the Quest Board, and saw that her good friend Alexis had signed up for one of the quests. It felt comforting that there would be someone she knew well in a quest she would participate in, so Ellaria signed up for Quest #18: The Storm. She then walked upstairs to Scheherazade's Saloon to meet the people there. Maybe she would even bump into Alexis.
  16. "Haha, that is certainly a very strange coincidence. I do not wish to insult, but your friend must not be much of a looker if he looks like a gorilla... Nevertheless, that fine specimen I caught myself deep in the Mistland jungles. It put up a real fight, but even the mighty king of the jungle can only succumb to Marmaduc the Master Hunter. Hence, I call him Prince Kong, since it is I who became king after that encounter!" As Marmaduc bathed in his own superiority, the captured Metasimian rattled the cage in fury. "Of course, everything comes with a price. That fine specimen is yours for just 1000 gold. If you add 300 to that, you can have the unicorn as well. No one has ever called Marmaduc unreasonable, you see."
  17. Aaaah, so much to take in! And I was only absent for a day... Thank goodness it's weekend again! Sorry if I've missed some of your questions. I just had to wade through so many pages of posts... Yes, that's exactly right. Rangers do not waste arrows. Of course it's okay! I can't stop the steamtrain from rolling on, but there's been plans of a "player versus player" topic for some time. Once it is published, I wish that people will take their battles there. After all, how can the QMs find any sign-ups if the Heroica Hall is cluttered with battle scenes. Yes, you can change targets before you attack. Once you've attacked an enemy, you cannot change onto another target until that enemy is dead. Even if you get knocked out and then revived, you will continue targetting the same enemy. A hastened hero can either attack twice in a row or separate their turns.
  18. Results of Round Five of the Pirate Kitchen Battle: Eric vs. Pirate Chef - Extra Critical Hit >Ad-Hoh (Darkness) vs. Pirate Maid - Damage Christopher vs. Kitchen Rat (Dark Grey) - Shield (Sentinel) Hybros vs. Kitchen Rat (Dark Grey) - Miss >Erdathcath vs. Pirate Chef - Critical Hit Maurice vs. Kitchen Rat (White) - Shield (Miracle) The battle rages on. Eric swings Godricsleif for a brutal 36 damage, bringing the Pirate Chef to less than half of his original health. The Pirate Maid attacks Ad-Hoh for 4 damage. Christopher takes the Sentinel-position again. Hybros misses his target with his reaper. Erdathcath shoots the chef for another 19 damage. Maurice's Miracle heals everyone back to full health. The poison continues to do damage inside Hybros and Maurice. Four enemies still remain. 19. OoC: Like the description says, a dream sailor is only capable of using harpoons and anchors as weapons. "Gee thanks, Mr. Nihai!" the boy exclaims as he excitedly takes the sabre from the barbarian. Alas, it is too heavy for Bluto to carry, and coming from a family of mages he has not even been taught how to fence. Shrugging his shoulders, Thormanil takes the sword back. Maybe he can offer it to some other hero when they get back to Eubric. They are stopped by a row of guards. When they ask to enter the queen's garden, the guards act insulted and drive them away. They then remember what they heard at the harbour. The only way into the garden is to sneak over the wall, but it is highly risky as the Almagesta's guards would surely lynch them if they got caught. ~*~*~*~*~ "Ah, you are here to make business! Why did not you say so immediately? I can offer you this miraculous creature for the lowly price of 500 gold. I have plenty of unicorns in my stables, you see." "Undead unicorn?! I do not know anything of that, but you might want to turn to Nemeshtar, the local necromancer."
  20. OoC: I'm moving the battle on, since it's been well over 24 hours. Results of Round Four of the Pirate Kitchen Battle: Eric vs. Pirate Chef - Miss >Ad-Hoh (Darkness) vs. Pirate Maid - Great Spell Christopher vs. Kitchen Rat (Brown) - Hit Hybros vs. Kitchen Rat (Dark Grey) - Special Damage >Erdathcath vs. Pirate Chef - Aim Maurice vs. Kitchen Rat (White) - Critical Hit The party is protected by Sir Christopher's Sentinel-ability this round. Eric misses his swing, but Ad-Hoh finally manages to connect his spell of darkness against the Pirate Maid. The maid screams as the darkness consumes a whopping 40 health from her. Christopher slays the brown rat with his attack. The dark grey rat manages to take a foul bite off of Hybros, poisoning the rogue. Erdathcath aims well at the chubby chef, causing 5 damage to him. Maurice's critical hit causes 17 damage against the white kitchen rat. Both Maurice and Hybros suffer from the poisoning, both losing 1 health since Sentinel does not protect from negative effects. Four enemies still remain. How splendid! Unicorns, you say? They are a sight to behold, indeed. Right this way!" Marmaduc brings the party to a pen where a solitary unicorn stands apathetically. "Unicorns are wondrous beings. They look fragile but are fierce when angered. They never harm children, though, for they sense innocense. What is it that interests you in these noble creatures?" "Sentient? I am afraid I do not know what you are talking about, milady."
  25. While the others were fighting off bandits, Cinna and Bartholomew arrived to the menagerie that was kept by a rich man named Marmaduc. There were many families enjoying the exotic cavalcade of caged and penned animals and birds. The two heroes spotted a unicorn further down the path, but as they passed a cage of screaming monkeys, they heard someone calling out inside it. "Ayiud! Mumbalak athoten nwazu! Yuza Hoptet! Yuza Metasimie!" At first the heroes thought that their companion Thothwick had been put in a cage, but then they realized it was another Metasimian. The people passing by just laughed at the man's cries, thinking it was an act of an ape. Suddenly someone spoke behind them. "Welcome, visitors! Do not be scared of that ferocious gorilla, it is in the process of being tamed. You can rest assured that I train all my precious animals myself. But may I say you two look exotic yourself as well! How far have you travelled to see my menagerie?" It was obvious that the party was faced with Marmaduc himself. How does Cinna and Bartholomew approach the situation?
