  1. Sounds like fun. Most of Uland has been covered in the quests, so revisiting those locations would probably be fun for experienced players. You should definitely get the minifigs, at least. They're gorgeously detailed, even if they are somewhat cartoony. But I personally have no plans for a Terra Chima quest yet, so you or someone else can go ahead with it.
  2. "John, I think you should put that Mystic Bomb to good use now." Ellaria attempts to weaken Minor Spirits B and C next, from the back row.
  3. The first guests to arrive are notable merchants, guildmasters and lesser nobility residing in the city. Among them are three presentatives from nearby cities. Bilbert Wigglepike rushes to greet them. "Welcome, welcome! I cannot express how glad we are to have our dear neighbours here to celebrate our 400th Foundation Day. This means so much to our nation!" "Harrumpf! I'm here for the free food and drinks!" "What do you mean by a nation? As far as I know this city still has no laws or a proper ruler. Bunch of outlaws, that's all you are." "Captain Mumbasa, Lady Diana, where are your manners? You speak for Miranda and Drandora, respectively, do not put cities to shame! Mr. Wigglepike, the King of Moone sends his regards to your powerful city, as do the remnants of my people, the last of the Moon Elves. Did you know that on this very spot there once lay the great realm of my people?" "Thank you, Ambassador Luneth, and yes, I have heard the myth of the sunken Mercution. Perhaps I will one day craft a play about the subject." "A myth... Well, after all this time, what else could it be...?" The other two representatives have already walked through the doors. The elven elder follows them, lost in thought... or perhaps memories?
  4. Arthur recognizes the watchman as Private Gladstone, a young brute who's all brawn and no brains. The corridor is too long for them to communicate with each other. Sorrow is unable to go through the door, since it is bolted from the inside. With nobody in sight in any direction, Arthur tries to use the compass as a tracking device to see where the other Wolfgang leaders might be. However, it only spins around without stopping. The Wolfgang are not so easily found, after all... Boomingham dips his hands into the dirt of the potted plans and then into the water in the vases, and ends up with dirty hands and nothing more. The theater is four stories high, while the opposite building has three floors. There is quite a jump in between the two buildings. They find nothing out of the ordinary. The Kappa Quartet is taken aback as Nyx climbs the stairs to the stage and grabs their instruments from their hands. One of the wereturtles even snarls at her. "Do not disturb the musicians. Do not climb to the stage. The Watchmen have already checked everything here. Your job is to guard and observe." The waiter glances at the maitre d', and excuses himself without answering any of Nyx's chit-chat. He then moves out of the room. The orcish waiter lets out a polite cough signifying he is too busy to talk. He then proceeds with setting the table. After a while, Bilbert Wigglepike rushes into the ballroom. "The first guests are starting to arrive! To positions, everyone! And be quick about it!" "You heard Master Wigglepike. Chop chop." The servants, who were speedy before, now put on a second gear as they put on the finishing touches. The heroes have to retreat to a corner so they wouldn't be in the way.
  5. QM Note: By west, I of course meant east. The compass points south, straight into the Theater, for both results.

"What kind of a bloody place is this to do business, princess? Can't you see I'm megablocking busy here?! Tell your daddy to contact my assistants if he can afford my services. If that's all you wanted to say, get the hell out of my kitchen!" The gigantic chef swings his ladle at Kiray's general direction, and turns to the other two. "What's your megablocking excuse for loitering around on my feet?" The kitchen is full of bustling. Waiters rush in and out of the doors, carrying service dishes and bottles of wine. The assisting chefs are busy with baking, cooking, slicing and washing. The Master Chef stares down at Arnulf, still demanding to know what he wants. There was no traps in it, as it was just litter. The lieutenant is rendered speechless for a moment, and then taps the side of his nose to signal that he's in on the plot. "Yes, you keep a good eye on these scoundrels, Private. Must always have a man on the inside, yes. I like when a man knows where his duty lies. Carry on, Private Regulus!" The lieutenant walks on, and the other patrollers follow in a loose order. The heroes are left alone again. The cat smells the Magnifying Glass with mild interest. Arthur sees the fleas and ticks on her fur through the class, nothing more. The pointer at the Magic Compass turns towards east, away from the Theater. Unfortunately Lieutenant Serevan has already left the backalley, so he isn't around to see the result. The alley is not long enough for the Telescope to show anything the heroes couldn't see with their bare eyes. They are alone. Sorrow sees a long, narrow corridor behind the door. There are doors on both side, and servants are rushing in and out of them, carrying dishes and crates. On the far end of the corridor there's a door with a golden star painted on it. A lone watchman is guarding it, yawning on his duty. "Enough blabbering, Phoebe. There is work to do." The maid mumbles an apology to the maitre d', but flashes an excited smile at Nyx. The wereturtles stare at Nyx for a moment before continuing their play. "Unfortunately the fine artists of the Kappa Quartet do not speak the common tongue. They have come here from the wetlands of Njago to play for this event. I doubt they know Miss Dellamore, since she prefers to sing a capella."
  7. "Always a pleasure", Fabian said with a wink as he took the rag from the raider, holding it as far away from his body as possible. "What a find! I can give you 80 gold for it, m'lady."
  8. "Who asked you anything, freak of nature? You Heroicans think you're the masters of Olegaia just because you have a fancy hall to loiter around in. Being a watchman raises your spirit, while I imagine all being a Heroican raises is your bank account."
  9. "Yes, Mr. Stud, I will take that filthy rag off you for 40 gold, as I previously offered. You look much better without it!" Fabian glances at the Magic Wagon that was still parked next to his store, and thought that the greenskinned witch would probably be thrilled to wear the worm's hide. He snickered to himself as he thought of Elphaba walking around in rags. He was sure glad the witch had said she would depart in a couple of days.

A golem was giving the waitresses monotonous orders, apparently being the maitre d' of the staff. "Wipe that goblet once more, it has stains in it. Move that fork an inch to the left. Careful with those vases. Can I help you?" The maitre d' had said this in such a one-note voice that it took the heroes a while to realize they had been addressed. They walked up to the golem. "I assume you are here to keep guard of the ball? How considerate of you." At that moment, something crashed and one of the waitresses let out a scream. "Gosh, I'm so sorry! I'm such a fumblethumb!" The clumsy maid had just dropped a plate, but it had stopped all action in the whole room. It was obvious that the service staff were on the edge as well. It was imperative that everything went perfectly tonight, or their jobs would be at stake.
  13. There's plenty of available players in the Hall now, if any of you have any new quest ideas you want to pitch...
  14. "Oh no no no, you must not disturb Master Chef Yasmar! He's a gastronomical genius - one taste of his cuisine will make your taste buds explode! He is very particular about the way his food is prepared and served. If you get in his way, you might upset him and he might storm out of the theater and never grace us with his presence in this city again! So no tomfoolery whatsoever, am I understood?!"
  15. QM Note: Zepher, I copied your statistics from the respective topic. How can you have a wrong level listed there? Anyway, I hope I got all the item swaps written down correctly. Some of you also had miscalculations in your stats, so I corrected them. Patricia raises her hands as the bombardment of questions begins. "One at a time, please! First of all, here is a poster of Nikolaus Steerpike. He was originally a member of the Guild of Alchemists until his attraction to poisons led to the death of a fellow alchemist. He escaped before he was caught, and sought refuge among the Wolfgang. He was behind the poisoning of Mercutio's High Priest Ulander, among others. My theory is that the banker-priest got himself involved with Wolfgang's shady deals and paid a heavy price for it. Poison is one of the least gentle ways to depart from this world, after all. We are dealing with a cruel man devoid of emotions here. I have always said that poison is the weapon of sadists and cowards." The captain gives a meaningful leer at the rogues in the party as she passes on the poster. "The list of guests invited to this event is extensive. Mr. Wigglepike, would you care to inform these people about the guests." "Uh, certainly! All the major houses have been invited, naturally, and they have all answered to the invitation. Admiral Bonaparte and his wife are coming, as is Grand Wizardine Ziegfried with select members of her clan. The Guild of Invision has sent their most prominent alchemists, and Ambassador Shanxian Ji Pei will be attending. The Hinckwells and the Shadeaux will be here as well, and I hope their guards won't cause any trouble - gods know we have enough as it is! As usual, wherever there is a social gathering, Master Guffington is there. The Academy of Enlightenment has sent their representatives, as have the nearby cities. And of course there's the main performer of the night, the lovely Barbariccia Dellamore who will no doubt enthrall everyone with her singing voice. How lucky we are that such an amazing talent was discovered only weeks ago! Adding the lesser nobility and high-ranking merchants, we are expecting up to 150 guests. You can probably understand why I am so fidgety now." As Bilbert Wigglepike speaks, the captain turns to Boomingham. "We do not discuss Strivvi here or now." As Thothwick addresses her, Captain Patricia raises an eyebrow. "Your assurance mean little to me until this night is over and done with, Black Knight. But I would not have asked your help if I did not need it desperately." Patricia nods to Arthur. "Private Regulus, I believe Lieutenant Serevan over there is expecting you to report in. You better explain him your peculiar situation." As Arthur approaches the elven officer, he gets poked by a fleuret. Lieutenant Serevan starts screaming at Arthur, with his face turning as red as his hair. "Private Regulus! What is the meaning of this? Every single watchman was summoned here, yet you neglected your duty to get in the line, and appeared here with your drinking buddies instead! I don't want your excuses, I know that Heroica Hall is nothing but a glorified pub! If you think I tolerate this kind of disobedience, you are sorely mistaken!!!" Captain Patricia has no choice but to intervene. "Serevan, Private Regulus is here on special duty. He stays with his companions from Heroica. You can take your men to check the nearby alleyways now." The officer opens his mouth to object, but the captain's icy stare shuts him up. He turns to the watchmen standing in a haphazard row, and starts barking orders at them to let out his fumes. The captain walks back to the waiting champions. "Everyone, listen up! I have enlisted every single man and woman under my force to keep watch of this theater. The main houses in power will surely bring their own guards, but due to political reasons we cannot permit them to enter inside the building. As for you nine, I need your special expertise in three critical locations. First of all, the kitchen is naturally under a threat because we are dealing with a poisoner here. The three least experienced of you will stay there for the entire night. That is Miss Nastayo, Mr. Grimwald and Mr. Bishop, who will be in charge." "But pay in mind that Master Chef Yasmar is a very sensitive case. He does not tolerate any kind of tomfoolery in his kitchen. And I can only imagine his reaction if his world-famous gourmet dishes are accused to be poisoned... The worst case scenario is that Yasmar marches right out of the kitchen, so you three must prevent that from happening at any cost!" "Great, one more thing to worry about then... The back door is the second location I need help with. I will guard the main entrance with the best of my men. I want you, Private Regulus, to take the yeti and whatever the hell that ghostly person is to the rear entrance and secure it. You must not let a single person in or out through that way. And the most critical place tonight is of course the ballroom where the guests will be dining and watching the performances. Lord Boomingham, I am putting you in charge of the order in there, along with Miss Nyx and Sir Thothwick. You must prevent all disturbance caused to the guests, and keep a watch over the servants. We have done our best to ensure that none of the hired help has any connections to the Wolfgang, but of course some spy might have slipped our radar." The heroes split up to their given groups. "For the last time, have I made myself absolutely clear? Does any of you have any doubts about your mission tonight? Speak up now." 16. Ellaria cannot look at Guts in the eyes. The old man's eyes are just so piercing. She feels like the little girl being scowled by the village elders again. "Yes, you are right. Of course." She cancels her attacks and takes out the scroll of weakening instead, casting weakness on Major Spirit A from the back row on her first turn. If she fails, she tries again on the second turn, but if not, she will attempt to weaken Minor Spirit A as well.
  17. Ellaria blushes, and even she is unsure what for herself. "Uh, might I remind you that the other enemies are Ethereal. I cannot damage any of them, and nobody needs healing. You see where I'm coming from, right?" She hoped the older man could be reasoned with. She really didn't want to get on his bad side...
  18. Both of the WANTED! quests have failed so far. That's why Captain Patricia is extremely dubious about Heroicans.
  19. OoC: Am I missing something, or why is there a Major Spirit fighting on our side? Ellaria checks to see if everyone is alright, then proceeds to attack Marc twice with the Ignis Fatuus from the front row. "Why aren't you answering me? Do you really have no excuse for your actions?" Ellaria demands as she raises her staff to strike the mad mage.
  20. My jaw just LITERALLY dropped! I must must MUST have this set! It's just so fascinating! The ent is cute as heck, the new figs are great, and all the detailed stuff in the interior is endlessly useful.
  21. QM Note: Ellaria didn't recover her ether despite resting? "Marc the Mad, I presume? Before we kill you, would you care to explain why exactly you are on a murderous rampage against helpless alchemists? Even if you disagree with them, do you really think murder is the right answer to end the dispute?" Ellaria didn't even hope she would be able to reason with the mage, but her morals begged her to find at least some motive for the madman's actions. She felt that this world was just too cruel and chaotic a place for her... Pushing such feelings aside, she hardened herself as she prepared to cast weakness on Marc from the back row on her first turn, and if she failed, she would repeat the action on her second turn. If Marc was weakened, though, she would attack him with Sylvania's Crossbow from the back row instead.
  22. Bilbert Wigglepike's theater was situated on the better part of Sungold Hill. The halfling had devoted his entire life to the theater, so one wouldn't be exaggerating if one called it his pride and joy. That day Wigglepike was highly nervous on behalf of his life's work. Later that night the theater would be populated by the cream of the crop of Eubric Freeport. Everyone who was someone in the city would come to his theater to celebrate the 400th Foundation Day of Eubric. The ball would contain speeches, performances, dancing and of course a lot of dining and drinking. He had been excited up to the moment he found out that the wily Wolfgang, the largest crime syndicate in the whole city, had their eyes on the theater. Wigglepike's heart was pounding as he watched watchmen in their reds and blues arrive by the dozens. Captain Patricia Cousland had summoned all of her men down to the last rookie to the theater for that special night. "W-what do you mean, a poisoner?! By gods, you cannot let that happen!" "That is what I'm doing my hardest to prevent, Mr. Wigglepike. I have even employed the untrustworthy Heroicans to aid us - but if they stick to their old habits, they will end up helping the Wolfgang instead." "I find that hard to believe... The Veterans of Heroica have never been anything but good to me and my business." "Well, we will just have to see about that.Well well, talk of Zoot and he doth appear..." Indeed, a group of nine champions of Heroica approached the theater at that minute. They were diverse both in appearance and experience, and their motives for joining the mission could only be speculated, but they were ready and available. She feels irritated just from looking at the rag-tag group she has hired. Almost everyone of the champions looks like a potential backstabber - although the yeti would most likely just smash her head in between his gigantic fists. Her eyes shift from the old knight to the teenage mage, from the black-armored Metasimian to the hooded figure without a face. Disobedient souls, the whole lot of them! There is one familiar face in the group, though, a recent recruit called Regulus. Maybe she could trust even that one to do his job properly... "Heroicans, I hope you all understand the gravity of the situation we are here. In a matter of hours, every truly important person within this city is going to walk through those doors to enjoy a nice dinner with some music and dancing, honorating our 400 years old city. Our job is to make sure that absolutely nothing disturbs that celebration. Nobody gets in without an invitation, and all the surrounding buildings are kept in a tight watch. The word is that Wolfgang will strike this place tonight. We have high reason to believe that they will send none other than Nikolaus Steerpike, their Court Poisoner, to the task. Poison and dinner is never a good combination, you see. I can only hope and pray to any god listening that you will catch Steerpike if you come across him and deliver him to me dead or alive. And your Veterans help you if by midnight I find the leaders of Eubric lying dead inside that theater! Have I made myself perfectly clear?" The captain's icy stare goes through each of the nine champions. QM Note: Welcome to the quest, everybody! Now's your chance to ask questions from Captain Patricia and Bilbert Wigglepike, and get to know your companions. I will sort out the statistics tomorrow, as I like to keep them in a unified order.
  23. A new negative effect has been uncovered to make the heroes' lives even more miserable. Doomed - The target is automatically knocked out after the next three rounds have passed (unless remedied). I've only introduced Dr. Cula and Madame Ladybug so far. I know you have a U'kin face, you can just give U'lala a new dress if that suits you.
  24. First of all, I want all of you to understand that I am never offended when people give constructive criticism or advice for this game. Everything you guys have said about Quest#50 so far has been justified and much appreciated. The issues you had with the quest are exactly the problems it had, and now I know better than to repeat those problems. I have to admit that I was a bit shocked about the abrupt ending, only because I wasn't given any sign that you players were bored, fatigued out, or desperate. Always remember that your QM is a human being too, not a computer game - you can actually reason with him or her, explain how you feel and hope that he or she understands and does something about it. I know communication is sometimes difficult when you're in a completely different time zone, but in the future, please talk to me if you feel iffy about a quest. We're in this together, aren't we? I had no intention for this quest to run for so long, and I didn't even realize it had been that long. I can totally understand you players being bored, while I had plenty of stuff to do in the meanwhile (like participate in a couple of quests with Ellaria etc. ). I can only apologize for the gaps in the updates, too. This really was a monster of a quest, and when I started it I had no idea it would take so much time just to build and photograph and roll for battle results. Anyway, I'm glad you see potential in the concept of continuous battles, as I wanted to test it out in this quest. I realize there was just too many enemies and locations for it to work properly. As far as the loot goes, I admit there's a lot of equipment there, but very few of them actually have unique effects. Most of the weapons are effectless or are merely elemental, and the artefacts are pretty straightforward as well. I just had to compensate the time that the players spent on the quest somehow. My intention wasn't to give Hybros enough gold to buy the whole of Eubric to his name, though, but that couldn't be helped. As I said, I now know better about my limits as a QM and the limits of this game as a whole, so these five months weren't spent for nothing from my perspective, and I hope the players feel the same way regardless of how it ended. Players of Q#50, please check the Quest-topic one last time for important info about the quest items - plus a little bonus for you. Love you all!
  25. QM Note: I want to give all of you my sincere thanks for trying this out! IMPORTANT! I forgot about the quest items in your inventories: ~ The Gate Vajra is useless outside the pagoda, and thus worthless. ~ The Winged Box can be opened with a wind-elemental spell, revealing a Sapphire hidden inside. ~ The Cannon Parts can be merged with parts dropped by another, undiscovered Star of Destiny. ~ When consumed, the Soul Cage causes the new doomed-effect on all combatants (heroes and enemies alike), causing sudden death in 3 rounds unless the effect is remedied. ~ The Star Coins are useless now, but they are each worth 1 gold, which you can add to your stack. As a bonus, here's a compilation of the Stars of Destiny that you managed to defeat (the rest will appear in the follow-up quest):
