  1. The reaction they want from the ad: "Legos are destroying kids with Shell! I must stop existing and sign this form! The reaction they'll probably get: "Where can I download that version of Everything is Awesome?" If it stays on Youtube then it's probably fine, but if it ever appears on the telly as an advert, then TLG may have the right to take legal action for using it's logo and products without permission. Also Warner Bros may jump onto the legal action bandwagon when they find out that they've also used the song "Everything is Awesome" and the minifigures of Emmet and Wyldstyle, which are licensed to them. So Greenpeace could end up a whole lot more trouble if it goes on the telly.
  2. I don't have any of the games, but I may go and watch all of the films again and possibly draw a short comic strip thing about it.
  3. Brickset just posted a comparison picture with Peter Reid's original Exo Suit and the final model: The new version is huuuuge!
  4. Hello dear forum-goers, and welcome to... So, recently I went and treated myself to the Grand Emporium, and because of my location in the UK (probably won't be United for long...) I managed to get this and a generic Chima polybag (Things! Excitement!) for free. Because the high-quality boxed packaging instantly stood out as soon as I poured my purchases out onto the table, I decided to have a go at reviewing it for you. WARNING: PICTURE-HEAVY BASIC INFO: Set number: 5002812 Set Name: Classic Spaceman Minifigure Price: FREE with all purchases over £25/€30 for VIP members (until 7th July) PACKAGING: Unlike the other freebies that Lego has offered in the past, this set is presented in a very nice high-quality card box that really makes it stand out from the crowd. On the side of the box there are also some nice retro Lego System logos, which makes this even more nostalgic. There's also the rather strange inclusion of a little "2014" logo, which could possibly be a hint that we're getting one of these retro sets every year possibly? Either way, the prospect of more of these high-quality freebies excites me. ....and to make sure we don't destroy our precious boxes (like I usually do with the thumb flaps) the box neatly slides out with a pretty box that could possibly be used for displaying the contents. I really think that this is a really great idea from TLG instead of just another throwaway polybag, so whoever thought of that back in Denmark deserves a round of applause and a gold star for this. Go on, have a gold star. ...which leads us to the nicely packed bag of pieces hidden within. PIECES: Inside the bag are these lovely pieces that I've laid out for you to see the (fairly obvious) contents of the set, except for the minifig: All of the pieces included are pretty basic and were in production back in the 80's, except for the black 3 studs-long stick piece, which I haven't seen before in that colour and isn't too necessary in the final model anyway. It's not exactly the most astonishing array of parts, but then again this probably isn't a set that someone would get as a parts pack... INSTRUCTIONS: Usually a set this small would just come with a folded piece of paper and would be not really worth keeping hold of, but as with the high-quality box TLG have really pushed the boat out with this set, producing a lovely booklet that's truly excellent. The first two pages are taken up by the instructions for the minifigure and the robot/droid, which have a nice beige background with a space logo of some sort. The rest of the booklet is filled with a rather nice timeline of various space sets and themes, going up to last years Galaxy Squad sets (for some reason there's a significant lack of Benny's SPACESHIP SPACESHIP SPACESHIP, which is pretty strange). I forgot to take a picture of this, but I did get a picture of the two-page minifigure timeline at the back of the booklet (or part of it at least). The back page also reveals that minifigures actually talk using emoticons (who knew?). THE FINISHED MODEL: Before we look at the figure (patience, young Padawan), lets first peek at the lovely robot/droid that is included in the set. Overall it's actually a very nice model that's very faithful to the original robots from the 80's. The colour scheme seems a bit more like blacktron than Classic space, but they're from a similar time period so this time I'll let it slide. I didn't think I'd like the droid so much when I originally saw the promotion, but I really have to say that it's definitely grown on me and I really think it goes well with the minifigure included, even if the robot does look like a blacktron robot... anyway, let's move onto the main event, the minifigure! To be honest there's not much to say about a minifigure like this, mainly because it's so iconic. It does use the newer helmet (just like all of the reissued spacemen), which is a bit of a shame as they could have used Benny's helmet mould, even if it does have that moulded crack (although that would have really upset NCS builders who use these helmets all the time). I do think that this is a good figure, but there is a noticeable colour difference between the body and the legs, which is upsetting. FINAL VERDICT: Overall, I think this is an outstanding example of how a free item should be done, and is truly my favorite promotional item that TLG has ever provided. Now, if only we had purple classic space minifigures..... RATING: 7/10 Thanks for reading!
  5. Yeah, I guessed from the test card and some of the comments that Mark Stafford posted on Peter Reid's teaser photos. Anyway, I really love this set to bits, and it's probably going to be a day one purchase for me. I do think that the hands could used this piece in grey instead, but overall I'm impressed with this redesign, The picture on the box does look a bit awkward though for some reason, I think it could be how the legs are positioned, but that could just be me. As for the minifigs, I think the green is a good choice and will be welcome in my collection alongside my other classic spacemen. I still want a purple spaceman though EDIT: I forgot to mention that I got the free classic spaceman minfig yesterday and I'll be posting a review later today.
  6. Wilhelm scream :P

  7. There's a new teaser photo on Peter Reid's Photostream. It's pretty much the same as yesterday's photo, but the salvage team is getting closer to the door. I would post it here, but then Flickr crashed. EDIT: Flickr's stopped being fussy now, here's the picture: So close yet so far....
  8. It can't be red, if it was then the shade of grey used for the body would be the same as the one used for the CS logo on the torso, which it isn't. It's a test card, and it must have some significance as a usual test card looks like this: Either way, I still think they're going to be green.
  9. I've just worked out a very small theory about the minifig included and the colour it is. Basically, at the start of the video teaser there is a test card showing 6 colours. These colours are White, red, yellow, black, blue, and green. You're probably thinking "But they're just colours on a test card Ayliffe, they're not important." But they really are important. You see, all of the colours on here represent all the different coloured classic spacemen that TLG have released in the 70's and 80's. All except GREEN. Furthermore, when these colours become different shades of grey, the shade of gray that green becomes matches exactly the shade of grey on the spacemen. So yeah, the minifigs included with the set are pretty much guaranteed to be Green.
  10. I just found this very interesting post by the creator of the teaser, OldScratch, on Bricks In Motion: Does this mean that another trailer will be arriving today?
  11. Well, I just had a small argument with Greenpeace on their blog. And I actually won. (scroll to the bottom of the page to find the argument)
  12. I can see the message Greenpeace want to get across, but some of the things they have said are, well, just plain inaccurate really. For example: Erm, has anyone told Greenpeace that the only sets Lego have done with Shell are those pull-back ferraris, and they mainly use their own brand OCTAN when showing oil companies (and Octan have now transferred to using green energy anyway). Also, did anyone tell them about the upcoming Arctic City sets, which put across exactly the same message as Greenpeace does? And they used an image of an 80's set, before any of this trouble arose! Overall, I think that the message they are trying to get across to people is acceptable (save the arctic), but all they've done is try to hit out at any company that has even the smallest link to Shell, and didn't do their research before setting up a full campaign and bombarding them with thousands of e-mails. Either way, neither Shell or TLG are going to come out of this situation unharmed.
  13. Who says that the Exo Suit won't sell out in only a few days?
  14. It could be because instead of having a standard yellow head, the set may include a fleshie minifig as the original proposal had one and this set is designed to, as Caperberry said on his New Elementary blog post about the subject, the set also had to fit in with the storyline that Peter had already set out in his book "Lego Space: Building the Future", which featured minifigures in flesh tones rather than in yellow. So basically, this is probably a clever move by TLG to calm down the AFOLs out there who wanted an ordinary classic space minifig within the set. That's what I thought. Anyway, we'll find out tomorrow....
  15. Basically, this image appeared on Peter Reid's photostream: Could this be the hint we're waiting for....? Either way, it looks like we'll find out in 24 hours....
  16. Sorry for the bump, but The BBC have released a press release confirming that series 8 premieres on Saturday 23 August 2014. Press release: The BBC also released a teaser trailer for the episode: They also released a promo image, but it looks incredibly ugly:
  17. Hopefully if it's coming in August then we should start seeing some leaked images in early july and a full press release near the middle of the month.
  18. Great work! There are two films just crying out for this treatment: Peter Pan (not the Disney classic, the weird 2003 version where Neverland is somehow IN SPACE) and the strange live-action Super Mario Bros Movie from 1993.
  19. This just popped up on Brickset:
  20. Here's a picture of the movie version (yes, this is really the best image I could find of the movie version) It's probably around twice the height of the official set version, so if anyone is thinking of building the version from the film, good luck with that EDIT: You know what I just said about that being the best image I could find? Well I just found a better image
  21. That is a truly beautiful set. Is the Legoland Billund sign printed and exclusive to this set?
  22. Basically, a Peanuts film is being produced by Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox, and it will be released on November 6, 2015. The film is directed by Steve Martino and written by Bryan Schulz, Craig Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano. This news on it's own may seem worrying to some people, mainly because the traditional art style of Charles Schulz could have been ruined or the numerous failed movies of old cartoons such as that Yogi Bear film. However, in march a small teaser trailer was unveiled that is simply brilliant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2RUGA-2H2I If you don't fancy watching the trailer (shame on you!) then here's a couple of images from it: So, what do you think of this news? Personally I'm excited about this, mainly because Charles Schulz's son and grandson are heavily involved, which should prevent this film from just being another forgettable remake of a classic comic strip (yes, we're looking at you Marmaduke ).
  23. Nope, it's been delayed until the 19th. However, Brickset has revealed the cover of the first issue and Brick Fanatics has revealed a page from inside the actual magazine. Both Brickset and Brick Fanatics also have the official press release, which is this:
  24. Sad that the HH is going, but wouldn't it make more sense to keep producing it until october 31st and then stop selling it? Either way, it's still one of the sets that I want to get so I'll probably try and get it sooner rather than later.
