Modifying your LDD

Does the palette update itself when LDD is not allowed to connect to the Internet? -
need help rotating road
Mr. Lego-builder replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
For the work around: 1. Examine the right side of the road. 2. Separate the right sidewalk from the road and assemble it as it own stack of slopes with enough bricks to span the entire length of the road. 3. Afterward, in order to better visualize the finished road, copy the pre-built road to the end of the slope stack 4. Then, remove the uppermost light gray 1x2 plate already in the model (From the stack of two 1x2 plates attached to blue Technic pins on the right side.) 5. Next, place a jumper plate where the 1x2 plate originally was. 6. Select the entire stack of slopes. 7. Finally, connect them to the jumper plate, inching it as close as possible without conflicts. Here are some pictures to show what I mean: http://cid-c55c2a3e10b5d929.skydrive.live....rk%20Around.zip -
need help rotating road
Mr. Lego-builder replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
SuperKalle's suggestions seem to work very well! The reason I was having trouble with the original file were a few things: - I did not have the modified LDD parts files, which made it difficult since brick errors kept occurring. - The road was quite large, making it fit on the screen a bit difficult. As for my proposed solution, I must say it is not nearly as elegant (or for that matter, as effective) as SuperKalle's, but it better keeps the faith of the original design (e.g. baseplates are kept, it is of similar length). There are a few drawbacks to my design: The rotation is not fixed; it is worked around. You can better see what I did in the following two files: The first version has the proposed changes only: http://cid-c55c2a3e10b5d929.skydrive.live....ad-modified.lxf The second version has an added sidewalk, making it flush with the tiles on the opposite edges of the road: http://cid-c55c2a3e10b5d929.skydrive.live....dified-alt1.lxf I hope this helps. -
need help rotating road
Mr. Lego-builder replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi. I've downloaded and tried to rotate the road in a way that would allow the bricks to fit properly. I think I may have found a alternate way for the bricks to fit. Do you have a link reference to the real part (e.g. from Peeron or Bricklink)? Also, is your design inspired from some source? I'd like to take a look at that too to compare and troubleshoot. EDIT: Is it possible for you to send a personal message with your email address so I may send the modified file? Thanks. -
If you're still in need of these Sharpie markers, I'm more than happy to help.

Is this piece for sale...
Mr. Lego-builder replied to Captain M's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Here are some suggestions and resources: New set 5909 Treasure Raiders on eBay for $99: http://cgi.ebay.com/Lego-5909-Treasure-Rai...=item1e595eca06 New storage container on eBay up for bid: http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-HTF-LEGO-EGYPTIAN...=item56379ba0b1 Used storage container plus pieces on eBay up for bid: http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-VINTAGE-EGYPTIAN-...=item4cec429b08 Search for set for sale on Bricklink: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=4584 Considering the original price for the set about 10 years ago was $20 (http://peeron.com/inv/sets/5909-2), buying the set or stage container now is quite an investment, but I guess that holds true for all LEGO. Much luck! -
On my end I am able to extract the file, but I will try to assist as much as possible. It may depend of the program that is being used to extract the file? My only suggestion would be to try downloading the file again to make sure there was not a corrupted download. Brickster, If there are still problems, PM me and I will give you a non protected version. EDIT: There is an error with the file name. Once the file is downloaded, you must rename the file to a ".zip" file. Currently, it is a ".zip_" file. I apologize for any inconvenience. For those who do not have the time or technical knowledge to rename a file, I have included a mirror link on MediaFire. The disadvantage to this route is the presence of advertisements on the site. You can find the mirror download here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/dctmvjjyuq0/...ctions10183.zip SECOND EDIT: Per the request of Brickster, here is the Brickshelf folder, once moderated, where each LDD instructions file can be downloaded individually: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=406219

Thank you for pointing that out, Brickster! I have changed the link and it should work now. The new link is http://cid-c55c2a3e10b5d929.skydrive.live....ons%2010183.zip. For safety reasons, the file is protected by a password, which you can find on my profile page under "Interests". This is to ensure that my files are not put anywhere but here at Eurobricks. I hope this is alright with admins and moderators? NOTE: Please see updated mirror site below.

For those who need them or missed out on purchasing the set, here are the original building instructions from the LEGO Factory website. Apparently they are still stored on their servers. Rather than giving a list of links, I have included all 30 instructions in LDD format on a .zip file that you can download from my SkyDrive account here. If instead you would like .jpeg screenshots for each step of a particular model, you can send me a PM and I'll try to get it to you in a timely manner. I hope this helps anyone looking for this information!

Stickers for Shell fuel station 6378
Mr. Lego-builder replied to Er!k's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Check your office supply store. I know that Avery makes a few good sticker options for your printer. -
Have you tried LifeLites? Granted, it isn't pure LEGO, but it sure does give you much more versatility. All of their products can be viewed here: http://www.lifelites.com/products/list/1. You can control different sequences or use the Power Functions adapter to control the lights wirelessly. For smaller projects or for more intricate stand alone details, there's the Junior kit. The videos show the lights working like a charm. The only downside is the cost. It is pretty expensive when compared to the Power Functions lights.

That's strange. I returned form my local WalMart (in Quincy, MA, USA) a few hours ago. As always, I checked the LEGO section. I didn't find any indication of the Jungle Cutters on clearance. As a matter of fact, one section of the shelves was loaded with Jungle Cutters with a sign that read "New!" above it ( ) with price tags of $35 as usual. If it said clearance, then I would have been one happy camper. I unfortunately missed the $10 Target opportunity a few weeks back and the set is great for extra parts.

I personally have not used LDView, as hence I do not know of the extra benefits, if any, of using snapshot view within the program. If possible, you can always use the built in screenshot tool that comes default with Windows Vista (the "Snipping Tool") or stick with the good old "Print Screen Button + Paint" combo. Hopefully one of these will options be viable.

And so I guess my prediction was correct... After posting, I looked around your folder a bit more and I saw the LEGO Ambassador avatar that looked all too familiar. Then, I saw that some of the pictures for the set reviews seemed so familiar.... Of course, this folder's owner must be one of Eurobrick's LEGO Ambassadors!! I felt a bit foolish about jumping the gun so soon, but thanks for assuring me I didn't steal too much of your spotlight. But since we are all here, let's get back on this topic. There is not much more I can say or inquire about this service (since the text file provided such detailed information), other than the fact that I am glad that LEGO Factory is evolving. I mean, who wouldn't be excited to see their own designs come complete with the box, printed instructions, and all the pieces required to bring that dream to life? It's what LEGO is all about!

(First of all, I do apologize if this is old news or "confidential" news.) While looking over the new additions to Brickshelf this morning, I came across this interesting piece of news: Instead of trying to recall and restate everything I remember from the text file; to simplify everything, here is the text file, verbatim, that was included in the folder: Sounds like an interesting change of direction for TLG, I must say. Surely, the printed instructions is a nice touch. The new website design also looks promising, but it looks like there won't be any new bricks added to the selection even though the LDD software will be updated... Here's the folder (with pictures) of the new design/s for you to look over: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=399464

I'll second the post before me. It seems that I either caught sight of this thread too late or the Target stores near where I live did not have any sales. Either way, I would be one happy camper if I scored some Jungle Cutters, since I need the the included vehicle in particular. If you happen to be one of those lucky people, don't mind sending me a PM. I am very flexible when it comes to payment methods. Thanks.

Looking for metallic silver parts
Mr. Lego-builder replied to DJ Force's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Seeing how there have been no replies, I guess there's no harm in bringing this one to life again... Apologies if you have found all these parts already OR if you gave up on this quite ambitious project of yours. (It is unfortunate if it happens to be the latter.) Recently, while lurking around Bricklink, I came across this store: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=ChromeBricks They also have some sample photos here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=394166 I just wanted to give you a heads up of this fantastic resource. Happy building! EDIT: The custom order options (look at the last FAQ question) and just makes it that much more enticing! -
Hmm...Interesting question... Personally, I do not mind when it comes to 1x1 plates vs. 1x1 round plates. 1x1 Square plates are still used in various themes. As for pieces with strange shapes you also mentioned, I think TLG might be trying to go for a more organic/natural look while having the illusion of adding more depth to the model while using less pieces. I also wish TLG would use 'regular' pieces as well, but for kids, I guess building with these pieces is less exciting than building with pieces with more of a unique look and feel. Just my opinion

Thanks for the kind words, everybody! *sweet* This is truly a wonderful community. It has been ever since I was a member 2 years ago. Too bad I have had less and less time now to participate on Eurobricks...But you can still find me online sometimes (lurking in the middle of the night, perhaps... :-P )

Hmm...that's strange. It seems to have gotten replaced with another picture for some reason... Fortunately I saved both pictures. You can see the Street Cleaner set and the rest of the Impulse sets here: Impulse 2008

Welcome to Eurobricks! Have fun and feel free to explore all our community has to offer! Enjoy your stay!

Thanks a lot for the pictures! *y* The Impulse line seems to be getting better and better! They are perfect little sets for minifigures and smaller parts. However, I have never seen something quite like the first set (5620). *wacko* Can anybody give me a real world representation? The new coast guard truck and boat has a bit too many <insert that tiresome argument> pieces in my opinion. Maybe it is because of its bulky building that gives it that feel. I've also noticed there is no victim to "rescue" included in the set itself... I notice on the side-view picture of the truck/boat there is a double sided arrow on the back wheel of the truck...can this mean a suspension system? 8-| Also, does anybody know what the yellow piece next to the communications dish on the truck is? It seems like a very interesting piece. Is it new? Thanks again for the pictures and I am looking forward to what else 2008 brings! *sweet*

The links themselves work, but unfortunately, the folder is not yet public. I am also looking forward to this review, but we will have to wait a couple of hours before they are moderated and made public...

Thanks for the review, Yoda! It's always great to have your insights on sets like this. A couple of my thoughts: 1. The forklift in my opinion, is the best part of the set. The building techniques used are superb! *y* 2. The little extras that are included are a nice touch, although I don't know what the green/yellow things are supposed to represent (perhaps, you can shed some insight)... 3. The trends seems to be downsizing the trucks for 2008. (Good, but...) the fronts of the trucks have a different design. (However, this seems to mean that the use of those beloved 1x1 slopes for headlights are declining, being substituted for 1x1 plates ... :-/ ) I still have mixed opinions about these new front designs. 4. The design of the truck is a bit lacking in my opinion. The design is too simplistic for my taste, but nevertheless, overall a very good set. Personally, I am still undecided in whether to buy this set or not, as the price is good (but not great), and the mediocre design of truck detracts from the set's value. Just my 2 cents.
