I think the grading is fine but the people seem to get paid to grade. When you get these graded you usually get a price too so you know how much it's worth. The problem is collectors and graders are so often freakin' overestimating the value. There are several graded things on Ebay that are currently going for like 10x the actual worth. It's ridiculous. I don't mind grades. I mind the LIES told about the value. I can buy them loose and outside of a special grade case for 1/10th the price, then pay a grader $50 to grade it 10x what I paid and put it in a fancy case. Ridiculous. I don't like them because most of the time they're dumb like that.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality

I doubt it'll get enough. It's very... London Specific. Fewer outside of GB will care. -

Yeah, the first thing I think of about WWII is Hitler and the Nazis. -

This isn't censoring history. Like most kids I was well aware of the crap that happened. Holocaust and stuff. I knew America used to be involved in slavery probably before I even went to school. We're not censoring it. We're not denying it. Such an argument is irrelevant because nobody is doing that. What we're doing is not wanting to associate that kind of stuff with "play". Some kids will know a lot about history at an early age. That doesn't mean they have to have a Hitler action figure. Associating such stuff with "play" risks decensitizing the whole thing to a child's play thing and giving a weird view to a child who now associates stuff like Japanese internment camps with play time. When it's fictional it's easier to stay separate, respectful and all that jazz because it doesn't matter. WWII matters. Nobody is pretending stuff didn't happen. There's no dark and dangerous road because nobody is suggesting we say the Holocaust didn't happen or anything like that. We're just not mixing real life tragedies with "play" for kids. I'm sure some kids could handle it and know the difference but not all. Again, it's not about not exposing kids to truths. You can still give history leasons. It's about not making it something kids can play with. Nobody is addressing the positives you mention because I don't see any. And the negatives you mention are making wild assumptions like denying history. And mentioning positives to come out of stuff like experimenting on Jewish people, that's just dumb. Technically they could and probably are there. But using it in an argument FOR Legos based on WWII illustraits perfectly why it shouldn't happen because then kids might say things equally as stupid and incensitive as that (keep facts like that in the books). And if you're an adult what chance do many kids have? And you can't possibly think that just by shifting focus away from the horrible things that happened in the war to advancements means anything? Well I guess you can think that since apparently focusing on medical advancements brought on by the torture and killing of Jewish people is appropriate FOR KIDS to play around with. Wut? -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

Well, the prequels and all it's spawn are basically the Dark Side. -
I hope the Superman set is the Daily Planet. I mean, what else can you build with Superman that's more iconic?

Come on Zelda!!! I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement. Zelda is the best case scenario for me. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
BrickG replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
This show has it's own sticky? Man, I hate this show. I'm one of those old Star Wars fans that love the original Trilogy. The new trilogy... sucks. I tried for years to like it. I've recently come to the conclusion that they're just average movies as compared to the legendary original trilogy. Then I gave this show a chance. I didn't really make it to season 5. It's too freakin' kiddy. I'm usually not one to complain about that (I like Lego after all and a lot of cartoons) but the quality of the writing and stories are just terrible. And that announcer guy at the beginning of the episodes, I'm not sure you can start off a show with something MORE annoying. I mean, there are some kids shows that are written well. Spongebob, Teen Titans, Avatar (both series), etc. This is NOT one of them. Now, it's not as bad as I make it out to be but it's nothing special. I feel like Star Wars devolved and now is made just to sell toys and games. It's left without me to a place I cannot follow. -

Since people are almost universally against this let us go to the next issue. Lego Breaking Bad. Meth Labs. Blue Meth. Walter White. Lego set for 2013? What kid doesn't want meth? -

I think the issue is all about the kids. There's nothing wrong with the theme when you don't consider them. I have no problem with those WWII custom Lego. That said, I'd probably make a Hitler minifigure myself just so I can put him in a little scene with the Lego T-Rex eating him and ripping him apart. But I'm not a kid. -

I'm usually one of the last to recommend censorship in Lego but... just no. It's not only about respect or anything. It's also about making stuff fun that shouldn't be IMO. First off you'd need Nazis. And what, are you going to have holocaust sets? "Jew Gas Chamber", "Japanese Internment Camp", blablabla... I don't think we should romanticize WWII to small children. Too much messed up crap happened there. And unlike in fiction it ACTUALLY happened. And imagine kids trying to collect things like a Hitler minifigure :P. I have no problem with people who are interested in history and that war. I have a good friend who is heavily into war reenactments. But do they belong in Lego? I don't think so. If I had to see military in Lego let it be G.I.Joe or something. Or generalized military sets at the most (like a US Tank with a few minifigures fighting nobody)... I just don't like the idea of putting REAL killing and stuff, even if it's against Nazis, into a children's toy. -
Every time I see those grades and prices I can't help but think "bull crap". Seriously, I'll say it too. Bull crap. If you ever can actually sell those things for those insane prices it's a miracle and you've found a sucker (which is usually from that small group of people who actually care about these grading things). Unless it's something like Superman's first comic I can find it for 1/10th the price or better most of the time. You can find some of these graded things on ebay. I can literally get those same Legos I see there in the same condition from a place like Bricklink at a tiny freakin' fraction of the price.

Oh wait, "Kraang" isn't back :(. Kraang is the race. I want THE Kraang!
-
Nevermind. Kraang IS back. I hope Beebop and Rocksteady are too. Kraang already has an action figure.
-
I don't think the characters that are exclusive to the original toon have an amazing chance. Those being Krang, Beebop, Rocksteady. Especially if the original TMNT creators have anything to do with it. They hated those characters (really, TMNT grew beyond them) which is why they haven't been in anything since. It matters what's in the new CGI toon.
-
If the TMNT figures weren't minifigure based and instead some of that other bullcrap it would be ruined for me. I can take a sculpted head/shell combo. Not a whole different figure style that doesn't match.
-
I experimented and bought some sets to resell once they discontinue. They're taking too long to discontinue. I don't have patience. I will not do that again :P.
-
If they do TMNT I wonder how the heads will be. I kind or want normal heads. But I think we might get a Chewie-like head/shell combo that shapes the head uniquely.
-
It stems from quality for me. I've owned several "off-brands". Megablocks mostly. My experience with them is them breaking a lot and not sticking together a lot. I mean, if I ever have kids I could give them my Legos. I can't give them the other things because they all broke. :P
-
I've been saving up for a new computer. I keep spending some of my savings on Lego.

Been trying to find the alternate Dalek colors. Hard as fudge to buy in the US (or alternatively stupidly expensive due to shipping). I only have red. :( They're not deformed because they're the standard setters. :)

How the heck do Firestar toys do it? They're so good. -
I'm not sure how this forum feels about double posting... tell me if you hate it. I just got this today. And as I thought, the build wasn't that great and the actual building isn't either. It's small and cramped. You don't get much for $120 (I got it on sale for $102 and it was still too expensive). Jabba's palace is cramped and dark. Yeah, I'll be taking this apart and maybe making a better one later that can actually fit a crowd. 6/10 for the actual building. That said, I'm a minifigure guy. I bought this for the minifigures. And this has a very good selection. Jabba is awesome. The new guard is great. Oola and Boushh and Han in Carbonite are all great. Then you get the same old Chewie as ever and a somewhat boring Salacrious B. Crumb (I never liked this little guy but he's well made). Still, I'd give like a 9/10 for the minifigures. Probably an 8 for the whole set just because of them despite the price and the kind of "meh" building. Not the best set but I needed this new Jabba. :)

I'd have to use one of those services. I don't have the cash for a 3D printer and even if I did I couldn't let myself buy it just for a few tiny wannabe lego pieces. And I'm anal. :)
