Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus
Cryos replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: Was just making a new post to fix that. Beat me to it. I was also naive enough to think enraged was a positive effect. Until I looked it up. There goes my attempt at being a super-saiyan. Baradock crudely pours the contents of the vial onto his club from the back-row. -

Baradock slowly stands up. "Crocodile-man." He roared over the downpour, "Being killed by me is greater honor than you deserve." He began unslinging his club. "I'm not a very honorable man, yes?" His voice seemed to reverb from each part of the ship, echoing intimidation from all directions. His questionable grammar being forgotten in the voice that seemed it could bludgeon you itself. He held his weapon at his side, walking up to the forefront of the party. His overarching brow concealing his eyes. But a brash bend in the ship sends Baradock to the railing before he could begin his assault. Hanging over it now he notices something about the water. 'what is this...?' The water below was beginning to...bubble up? "The water!" He exploded over his shoulder at the party. "It is..." He trailed off staring into the depths of the writhing water around the ship. He balances himself, looking at the crocodile man. His crash into the railing also slipped out a potion onto the floor of the ship. 'Blind fury!' he thought, he reaches down to pick it up, pressing the bottle to his mouth. Flecks of anger began to swarm in his iris. His eyes changing from a dark brown to a burning white. His vision becoming victim to the luminous light, he lost sight of most things except the crocodile. He began to withdraw to the back row. "I am going to eat you alive!" he thundered at the werecrocodile. -
Baradock sees how it feels now.

"You little..." He growled at the sheep through clenched teeth, barely suppressing his rage. He looked to the sound of the remark, only just being able to distinguish the werecrocodile through his dazed vision. The crocodile!? he thought, opening up the floodgates of blind rage. Baradock propped himself up on the side of the boat, the palm of his other hand rested at his temple where the sheep had rammed him. When standing he begun shambling towards the crocodile, using his alternate hand as a crutch to keep him from falling. "I got something else I can damage..." he grumbled, before ultimately collapsing on the floor of the ship with a resounding 'thump'. Stunned. -

Baradock sighed, realizing what she meant by saying that. "I was not going to do anything too lethal." He muttered. He was becoming rather fond of that word since being able to pronounce it. Baradock shuffled to the same sheep Cinna had been petting and crouched to it's eye level and began stroking it's wool. Not gently however. "Do not worry, sheep. Sheep are safe with me." His voice was not soothing, and with combination with his accent he came off rather frightening. -

Baradock began to step to the crocodile man, he had some bones to pick with him--or break. On the way he noticed the Cinna lady whispering something to the sheep out of the corner of his eye. Suddenly forgetting his bone breaking plans for the moment he strides over to Cinna from behind. Being as tall as he is he towered over her shoulder. "You speak...sheep?" he enquired, his eyes locked on the wooly beast instead of her. -

Baradock, riled up at the were-crocodile who just shouldered him, began to turn around to do something--lethal. Seeing as he was already boarded on the ship he released an irritated sigh. He turned back to the new mini-man captain, a visibly disgruntled look on his face. Baradock spoke up from the rear of the group, not sharing the pleasant tone of Cinna and also ignoring Dreyrugr's caution. "You should discipline your crew, mini-man." -

"It is free, Mini-Man." He paused, "Like gift." He stirred the liquid once more. As if to confirm the mini-man did or didn't want it. -

The gnome's outburst reminded him of something, "Mini-Man." Baradock directed at the gnome, his accent broadening. "How are you to topple the enemies if all you can see is their kneecaps. It may end their adventuring days, yes?" He thrust his hand into his satchel, emerging with a Deadly Venom. "Uh--this make you more--" He shook the liquids around in the vial, buying time to find the word he was looking for... "Lethal?" -

Baradock, not feeling the need to reiterate his name just does a hand gesture of acknowledgement. He just noticed yet another mini-man come along, this one toted a crossbow two shoulders too big. Maybe this mini-man can grow hair. He thought, subconsciously rubbing his bare head. Seeing the scarecrow depart Baradock parked on the waist high wall. Whistling an intricate, foreign tune. -

Baradock shot the elf an odd look, for such a big set of ears she sure doesn't use them... Remembering Benji's backwards speak he attempted to follow suit, "Cannari. Baradock Cannari." Though it was said bluntly, void of any hope to branch off into conversation. He averted his gaze back to Scrinshaw, awaiting some kind of debriefing. -
You're right! I'm sure he can just edit it though.

Baradock crossed his arms, spreading his legs. His face visibly miffed by something that happened earlier. "Baradock." He announced, to no-one in particular. Ignoring the vampire's offer He strode towards Scrinshaw, his leg brushing against a mini-man he just realized was there. "How many moons until we reach these, 'High Kin--Kingdoms? " He enquired, half questioning the scarecrow half questioning his pronunciation of kingdom. But the small sentence shed light on Baradock's thick accent, brimming with elongated vowels and a recursive flow. OoC: Stats are A-OK Cap'n. Except for the formatting error on Baradock's name. Also, you didn't put the name of the quest in the title. -
Baradock barely suppressed himself from pummeling this "Johon" character straight in the nose. The explanation of the phrase went totally over his head. 'Of course I know how ropes work...' He grumbled as he fumed towards the door. He didn't know where he would go, maybe he would go mess with some rope. He continued muffling imperceptible words as he walked, outside the hall now. "grumbleropemumblidiotofcoursmutterope'
-
Baradock, misunderstanding the phrase takes it as an insult to his capability, "I can assure you I understand how ropes work. I have worked with 'the ropes' before you could chew watered bread!" He retorted sharply. He inhaled through his nostrils to make himself appear bigger, although he was already larger than the man already.

"I have done the signing up on the ninetieth and ninety--first. And you?" He said, which could be interpreted as casually.
-
Baradock returned from the marketplace, two new pumpkin bombs in his satchel. A familiar face approached. "Baradock..." He trailed off, not matching Johon's pleasant demeanor. "I believe we have met before this, no?" He stated, the sentence almost becoming lost in his accentuation.
-
Baradock jogged into the Marketplace, surprised to see that Carvenhall arrived before him. He saw him talking with another individual so he didn't say anything. He walked to a green skinned ladies cart, Baradock's face wrinkled at the sight of her. He didn't acknowledge her but instead began counting up the gold on his fingers... "Mind purchasing something before I die of old age dearie?" She said emphasized that last part for sarcasm but Baradock took no notice, though he did slam a good 120 gold onto the counter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pumpkin Bomb x2 120G 370 -120 -------- 250G left
-
"Hmm," He says disembodied, not noticing Benji's despondency at the question. His eyes instead focused on the fingers he used to keep track of counting. "Three hundred and...seventy gold pieces..." His eyes widen, "Three hundred and seventy?" He carefully but quickly begins to slide the coins into a small brown pouch at the edge of the table. Standing now, he slung his satchel over his back and patted the pouch into his pocket. He was about to take off to the marketplace when he remembered to thank his aide. "Thankyou for the hand, Carvenhall. I'll remember this when I begin spending like a king at the marketplace." He said it in a way to be a joke but with a combination of his thick accent and a general bad sense of humour it came off rather dry. But on that note he was off. Mumbling something under his breath as he went. "Arith-Arithimuh-Ticaramith, no...Arithmuhh..."
-
They sat adding up the coins in silence, only the sounds of gold hitting gold and the ambient sound of the hall filling the table. Feeling the conversation go dead Baradock comment's on the only thing he could think of at the moment, his dialect drawling. "Your helmet is..." He struggled to find the word, "Peculiar? What is its story?"
-
Baradock casually nods as the strange man walked away. He began attempting to tally up his gold, but he wasn't very good with numbers. 'Carry the one, subtract the...vowel?' He started making two piles though It wasn't long before another man approached him; He looks up at the person behind the voice, a man about his age wearing a husk of an animal as a hat. "Baradock." He replied thickly accented. He averted his eyes back to his gold and went back to frustratedly fiddling with his coins. Before dropping them all into the largest pile in obvious irritation. Baradock raised his eyebrows realizing his newfound acquaintance was still there. "I was never good at arithmi- arithimumu..." He quit attempting to pronounce that monster of a word and gestured to his pile of coin, "...Mind lending a hand?" He uttered, lowly.
-
Baradock was startled at the appearance of the shady man who almost seemed to have manifest out of thin air. He suspiciously squinted his eyes, attempting to discern his facial features but were concealed under the shadow of his lid. He began reconsidering offering to this dusky individual, but alas, he unfolded the palm of his hand. Awaiting the coin.
