Hmm.. I can't tell anymore what the intent of this thread is.

Yes, Winter Village sets are spread over many shops, supermarkets and so on, and they had heavy discounts last summer. I got them all far below retail price.

When do we have to decide? :D -
Amma notices that little Arbour girl seemed to feel a bit more comfortable now and that she began thinking about positive things. "You can be proud about your strong believe. I cannot say that I have something like that left." "Well... ehh... Læða is kind of... We..." Amma stumbles. She did not want to talk about her past. It still hurt too much. But on the other hand, she had make that girl interested in something else... "You must know that we dwarfs... The village where I originally come from has a very own history. It is supposed to be older than most other stories you might hear about dwarven history. But it is regionally very limited, only the small piece of land where I was born a long time ago, knows this version of their origin. In the recent past, the dwarves in our homeland began to learn to know other cultures - especially from other dwarfs that came to us or from voyages to other dwarven locations. But we got to know other races and their histories and beliefs as well. Many of my subjects lost their belief in this time. They thought this story was ridicolous. They did not dare to tell other after they got laughed at several times when telling the story. And that's how they began to forget about our history. All in this short time, while I was.... " Amma gets quiet and keeps thinking while staring in the fire. Then she awakes from her thoughts and continues. "Well, briefly speaking, it is being told that Læða was the leader of a group of... a higher race or sort of being. They kind of found the very first dwarfs as little helpless beings under a stone. By accident. Yes. And Læða and their fellows decided to help us dwarfs and teached us to live. That's how Læða was being worshipped over a very long time." "Hey, don't look at me this way.", Amma says loudly and shifts around on her chair. She had not told somebody something about her since a very long time.

Yeah..... two points: 1) You guys do not get his point. Of course you con MOC and MOD as long as you live and of course this is what LEGO is for. But some collectors are talking about product design. You can be fan of the base product (bricks) or of the specific products (sets). The same can be said for IKEA or Porsche. Chri5kng is discussing about product design. So it does not help that he can MOC or MOD, the product design is still getting worse in his eyes. 2) This is a rather subjective topic. It can be discussed till no end. That's why you have to ask if it is really neccessary to discuss. Plus: It has been discussed already several times. And to start a topic simply to rant is not known as top quality posting. ==== On Topic: There is really an overload of emergency sets. But this has some kind always been. Other sets do exist now as well - but only for short time. Compared to the early 90ies the lack of other sets is not as big as it might feel. (Think of all that garbage trucks, construction site sets, mining sets, the bank, 4207...) Nevertheless the 1980s were full of different sets which was really nice. Maybe TLG does not dare to offer such a broad range today. Kids may loose interest in LEGO faster than yesterday's. Comparing Town and City might work, but Creator is on another topic. And even there you have to distinguish between Creator and Creator Expert.

This is what LEGO Games should be like. "Be creative and make your own." Very good!

It's still some sort of American specialty what makes most European (or at least German) shaking their head. Houses that you can carry around.

Yeah, I think they wanted to achieve an alternate design without using new molds.

I found a mistake in the Lego replacement system.

I am just wondering why bricklink does not even list two different flowers. Could you make pictures of yours? How does the solid stud flower look like? Should it be a new part or is it a production error? -
What a great interview with great pictures. Did not read the entire interview yet but I will do as soon as I can. Always wondered whether Erdbeereis had some German origins.

GRogall, you are my hero! The Helicopter Arrest looks really great and seems to be a very good part set as well. And now I am even more excited about the next modular. When do you expect HR images of that one, GRogall? edit: This is the very first time, TLG uses the brick-brick with the other side, isn't it?

Thank you very much for your detailed answer. This fits pretty well woth what I had figured out so far. Your post "puts it in a nutshell".

Oh, now that you mention her, I can remember to hear some people talking about Sylvania. I am very confused about all the deities. Maybe it is as I once was some kind of Cleric. We know Orrik as well but there is another goddess we believe in. Let me say l, we used to. I seem to be one of the last dwarfs out of my village that remember the story of our origin. It's a long story and it would certainly bore you. But our god was called "Læða" (Lay'tha). How does Sylvania communicate with you? Did she tell you to come here?
-
Amma smiles knowingly as she gets that rather harsh answer. But that had Ellaria only could have seen if she had looked at Amma's ears moving a bit up. Amma delights in getting in touch with that knackered woman. "Yes, I arrived effectively just a few days ago. I am yet looking to see everything in this small town. Sorry, I did not introduce myself yet. I am Stigveladi Kötturin. I come from... I lived in the forests near the icy mountains. I can see how you feel, my dear. Being the mother of many, I can "reed" people very good. Who is Sylvania? Is she your mother?

Amma was nearly slumbering away at the fireplace as she notices a young woman sitting next to her. She did not seem to even notice anything around her. That girl was obviously very gloomy and contemplative. Amma immediately had (grand)maternal feelings for this young fellow. She wondered if she should address her. After all she was no elf or other weird person. She seemed to be a very generic human. "Hey, my little girl." Amma raises her voice towards Ellaria. "Do you have any sorrows? You know, sometimes it's good to talk to someone. I am here to lend you my ear if you like." She was finally trying to be nice to someone else for the first time since...

1 Like badboy you'll find it in my profile page. But as there is not that much, it won't hurt to write it up again: I have experience of ... ONE Mafia day so far. It was the great School of Pandora and Rick and I passed nevertheless. The feedback was not so bad, so I hope you'll consider giving me more experience. 2. Yes, I am online more than once a day, esp. from Mon-Fri. 3. Yeah, really! Trust me! Or click on the "Find content" button on my profile page. Maybe i should note that I obv. tend to freak out while playing Mafia even more than on other days (regarding clicking the refresh button of my browser) 4. My wife bakes wonderful cakes. My favorite cake is an apple cake. But I still don't like cakes that much. And I can't imagine to live without steaks. So: Steak! Definetaly. -
Sometimes I regret making Amma so offended (hurt inside) and embittered. And both quiet and rude. Makes roleplaying rather hard. And I hope that no player is offended by what I write. And that I am quite different to Amma. Always keep in mind that Amma used to be very kind-hearted. And I want her to become that way again by being a Hero. Any tips and critics about my roleplaying are very welcome by the way.

I totally love it when somebody knows how to photograph his MOC. This is high quality LEGO Building in my eyes. Thumbs up just for that!

Since there are no unique parts as far as I know, could it be easier to look for the single parts?

Trouble in the Streets of Gotham: Conclusion
PsyKater replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
What the hell was just going on here? I was not online for a couple of days and there was a great bloodbath. I did not understand a bit of the rules or the roleplay but it seemed to be quite some fun. Congrats to those who survived. Seemed to be a challenge. -
Amma returns back in the Hall and gives the door a push. Unfortunately the door does not close and reopens slowly. Amma does not notice the open door and the cold breeze coming into the hall ( ) as she were rambling about the Marketplace for a long time. Now she'd need to warm up. That's why she goes towards the fireplace but not without ordering in a warm tea. This time without any special ingredients. On her way to the fireplace she stumbles over Benji's sleeping body runs into Benji who had just raised and was walking towards the bar. Some tea falls to the ground but she manages to keep the biggest part in her cup. "What the...!" she grumbles. "Why is everyone lying running around here headless. Don't they have better places to lie eyes?" Hoping that the elf did not wake up and start another conversation with her, she pushes off to the fireplace. Aaah, why did you just wake up while I was posting?! Stupid elf. Maybe Amma did not notice that Benji was awake already and he goes to them after that?! Edit: fixed

Well, I consider myself as a purist and I am a huge fan of LEGO. But these days it came to my mind, that the competitors using LEGO-compatible bricks (and not copying the whole set design) may be good for us. They bring new ideas or they release useful parts. Buying these things would make LEGO thinking about producing such parts as well or coming with those ideas first. I think there is a name for this: competition. That's why I think, a platform to discuss these products may not be too bad. But it may hurt the good relationships to TLG. BTW, Big Cam: Its much harder to distinguish between after market addons and competitors. Brick Warriors produces minifigure accessiores that LEGO does not produce. Such as other competitors of LEGO as well. But BW does not produce parts that TLG produces as well (like MFs itself or bricks and parts). So rather not a competitor. But what about the train stuff? BB Wheels, all those tracks. They produce stuff, that TLG does not procude (tracks with larger radius, larger wheels) but in the same product range as LEGO produces. So they are kind of addon (additional tracks) and kind of competitor (as LEGO produces tracks itself). Just like other LEGO compatible train sets as well.
