Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
MAB replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
You know you can remove a minifig's head and replace it with a different one, don't you? That gives the figure a different expression. You could equally well apply the same argument to torsos. Why have a police uniform on a torso? Lego could just supply plain black one and you can use your imagination. Dentist? Use a plain white one. Baker? Use the same plain white one. -
Lego Re-releases - What would you like to see?
MAB replied to ElectroDiva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The same is true for Classic, when put in front of Castle and Space. Personally, I never want them to produce a Classic Castle set again. To me, Classic Castle means something that is nothing like the more recent Castle / Kingdoms sets. -
The little details are fantastic. I love the sewing machine and the tape measure next to it.

I doubt anyone will object if you post on the thread to show it off, it just won't be included in the draw as it is way past the deadline.

The upper build is very impressive. But how do the doors in the lower section work, especially the corners? If you open one corner, isn't it the same compartment as the corner on the neighbouring side? So do you have to put the present in the right place each day, so the later ones cannot be seen?

For just 119 parts, that is pretty incredible detailing.

It's 11 or 12 if you include Market Street. Ninjago City is no more a modular than Haunted House or GB HQ. -

Does smiley mean happy with the change or sad? As you can only smile with the classic face. -
Almost time to release the manatees! It will be good to see what LEGO are sending this year: I'm guessing some TLBM, some TLNM, some SW (ep VIII), some Super Heroes and maybe the female Ghostbusters. And probably some NK.

Capes! So many to choose from! Please advise.
MAB replied to CappnRob's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm not a fan of the direct copies of LEGO's capes. I'm not so bothered if they do them printed or make them a slightly different shape or design so that they can be easily differentiated from the real thing. But direct copies can be confused with the genuine article. I have both old and new ones from capes4minifigs (via ebay). The old ones used to have a sort of vinyl surface on one side, but the new ones are almost a perfect match for LEGO quality. -
Those cheese slopes are BS. :-)

If that is the case, I'd have voted for Castle then Space. I don't really consider themes like Galaxy Squad to be Classic Space, as to me Classic space is the somewhat blocky design, the specific colour palette, etc. hence why I'd like a new Space theme but not Classic Space.

This is true, the legs are fairly restricted (can hardly move them backwards) but the arms are OK. -

There is also this piece. I still wish they did some more modern solid / molded capes like this one from brickwarriors. -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
MAB replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I imagine it will just be a small collection of yellow bricks though, so not that much use for historic MOCs. -
I'm surprised no-one else except me has voted none. I don't want any classic themes to return, I'd prefer new castle themes, new pirates, etc. Just as in the past for space they did Alien Conquest then Galaxy Squad, I'd love them to do something similar for castle / historic related themes. So not classic castle, but regularly changing individual castle-like themes. Which ones? I know a biopic about Tolkien is in the works. Or do you mean the Amazon LOTR series? Obviously that is a different beast, as LEGO hasn't had dealings with them as a production company.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
MAB replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
That has not been the pattern for modern modulars. This will be available for at least two years which will dampen resale during that time, and there is little money in a quick flip after selling fees when something is guaranteed to be back in stock. Sensible investors will wait to combine with good offers at S@H. This is no UCS Falcon or Saturn V. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
MAB replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think the problem with the car is that it is a car in a building set. It adds parts to the count / takes away parts from the building. Although personally I don't mind it. -
And there are only about 65,000 of them (inc different stud types) left on BL.

I hope they don't pass anything next time, and I don't think it is too bad when they do it. I hope it sends the message that there is no business case for anything like < insert rejected project here >.
-
That isn't a fact. Quite little. They often change the design a little but not so much the scale of a set. People voted for a small minifig scale one, not a large detailed version.
