  1. I agree, and I think the scale is important here. On a tiny model, you cannot always rely on brick texture alone to convey detail. Whereas on a large model, it should become much easier since the scale of the model is much larger than the parts being used to create it.
  2. You could try looking for used Lone Ranger sets, as that was the last similar line so likely to be most readily available.
  3. I like it a lot, especially the autumnal colours in the leaves and pumpkins. As they are serving eel pie, I wonder if there should be a river running by.
  4. Nice idea, although it just looks to me that it is now armoured like it has been captured by the knight to be used in battle. Aren't you missing the lower half of the jaw now?
  5. Note also that it was started in a negative way by someone that has a history of being anti-licensed themes in general and anti-Star Wars in particular when it comes to LEGO sets. All tie-in merchandising for movies seems to be down these days compared to a decade ago, and way down on the heyday of the late 1970s and 1980s when toy merchandising made Star Wars what it is. Yet LEGO still does well out of Harry Potter, Frozen, etc. It will be interesting to see where LEGO goes with SW as kids tend even further towards video games. If some good LEGO SW games come out, I wonder if they will make sets of the games.
  6. Not according to the voting they don't. The system set has far more votes than the constraction set. The voters don't want Bionicle to return through IDEAS as constraction, but as system.
  7. According to bricklink, there are now 157 female heads in light flesh. Of course, not all of them are suitable for SW figures but there is way more choice than there was even five years ago.
  8. Use regular LEGO horses.
  9. Yes, and they are good for testing GBCs or if you run one at home. Obviously for a collaborative display they are no good as they get mixed up with genuine LEGO ones but then the organisers often supply the balls anyway.
  10. These are shipped by Amazon, so shipping is free for UK orders (or for orders over £20 if not on prime).
  11. Yeah, so long as you have some padding in the jaws it helps grip the parts without allowing them to slip, but also stops scratching.
  12. The LEGO Movie 2. Sales information tends to be put here, in the community section: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/16-buy-sell-trade-and-finds/
  13. I prefer building to applying stickers. I find having to stop building while trying to align stickers can destroy the fun of the building process, especially if it is a large sticker and part and you need to use a bit of spray to help align the sticker and need to wait for the part to dry. The other problem is sometimes they are damaged before you even open the box. I've had badly creased, curled sheets, and even stickers missing from sheets where they have peeled off in the box.
  14. Don't leave food or crumbs lying around in the bedroom or the kitchen. Keep the floors clean, without piles of clothes they can hide under. Do ultrasonic devices deter roaches? I know they can work on other insects.
  15. Yeah, there hav ebeen quite a few parts LEGO has done after custom companies have done them, especially in historical weaponry and helmets and so on., such as Spartan and Roman helmets, shields, etc. Where they are equally as good or better, I tend to stick with the purist LEGO ones. Whereas sometimes the later LEGO parts are still not as good as the custom ones.
  16. Thin felt is good, it is probably a good idea to go to a local fabric store and tell them what you are after. It is important to know if you will decorate it with pens or paint - pens especially can really bleed in many fabrics unless they are treated first.
  17. Sure, I'd buy it and change them to white to match the rest of the model ... oh no, wait a minute, I can't! It might be possible to change the grey towballs to white hinges or similar although that would limit movement. However, given there is nothing special in the set, for anyone going down that route and having to do a remodel, they might as well just use existing parts / buy the cheap parts on BL. Why is that? After all, they have used technic pieces in this set.
  18. It appears to be a wooden collectable and if you are near Covent Garden at the right time then you can get yours first (for £109.99). From the language they have used, it sounds like this will be available elsewhere and it remains to be seen what they mean by "rare". How many will sign up to buy an unspecified wooden collectable at over £100? Enough it seems, as they are already fully booked.
  19. Nice, those battle scenes must have taken a while to animate.
  20. I think you will end up naked in public! Everyone wants the real ones for GBCs and so there are not many on the secondary market and so they are expensive. You either pay the price or go non-purist. Many people go non-purist for the balls, at least to test their own modules.
  21. Pliers, but put some foam rubber (cut from craft sheets) in the jaws. It gives excellent grip and doesn't scratch.
  22. I'm sure most people do know an idea is an idea and that LEGO tend to redesign a bit. However, this is getting close to the amount of redesign they did on the Ship in a Bottle, as in a complete redesign. That 46 parts is if they switched the colours of the design as it has been made. However, the number could well be lower if they had used other parts that do exist in tan. I can understand that they wanted to keep the price down and so have skimped on printed parts and used stickers instead, haven't gone for any recolours in parts (such as the ball joints) and so on but if they have just used common parts in white, then the incentive to buy is much lower. It might have a good price per part ratio but if they are all common parts then chances are it is not as good value as it might appear. It would have been more attractive if the cost was a little higher and they had gone for printed display plaques and a few new coloured parts.
  23. Do Bionicle fans want a Bionicle set made out of system parts? I guess the votes for this say yes. It is interesting that the system set is doing way better than the more traditional Bionicle set.
  24. Could have been 5 or 6 for me, both great series. Series 15 had some great figures too, but also too many close repeats from earlier series, which to me costs it points.
  25. I'm not sure they are making it more difficult. From the original post they are designing their decals, then using the office programs just as a way of compiling the decals ready for printing. If they find it easier to do this than use whatever software they designed the individual decals in, then they should do it. If they are to cut the top and bottom of all the decals in a row at once, for example, they need to be aligned well. And some drawing software is not great at aligning individual items, whereas Word is good at this if they are all the same size. Although I'd use CorelDRAW, as I know it better than other programs and it has a decent align tool. But whatever the user finds the easiest to use. So long as they turn off the image compression, there should not be a quality problem using the Office programs. So to me, it doesn't really matter what software they use to align the images, so long as they know how to use it.
