What is this Bricklink go fund me program? Or do you mean the Bricklink Designer Program? If so I cannot see LEGO rereleasing modulars that way. That would mean they are allowing a third party to upload their past sets to IDEAS, get to review, not pass them but allow them to go to the BDP, then paying the "designer" who uploaded LEGO's design a fee for the use of their work. If they do that, they can kiss goodbye to trying to claim their set designs are copyright protected.

Just be aware that international post still has backlogs. Some US buyers on the BL forums talk about months of waiting in US mail centres for international post.

LDD is older so it is not surprising if there are more LDD virtual builds here, partly due to stud.io not being around and partly due to inertia. But stud.io is probably the way to go for anyone wanting to start now.

That is because it is not glow in the qark white/opaque/trans, but trans light blue withe the minor GITD colouring marbled in. In the BL catalogue, parts can only have one major / base colour. So this one is black with lime marbling and not lime with black marbling.

Concerning numbers, I cannot see them changing back to 16 from 12 for 'regular' series (although they are not really regular any more!) Why change for just one series? And licensed ones will be as big as LEGO need / want them to be, not following any standard.

It is still an order of magnitude calculation though. And is that a good enough answer for the problem? We already know a constraint, that a complex mould (dice) is about $200k. So without even doing a calculation based on estimates, a guess of $20k (or $50k or something similar) is likely to be correct within an order of magnitude. That would mean we are confident the answer is between $2k and $200k (anywhere in that range is not more than an order of magnitude out, so not more than 10x out in either direction). If we had done a calculation and got $20k, we'd be happy we are correct within an order of magnitude based on the known constraint. If you estimate the cost of a mould using various assumptions, and come up with any answer for the average mould cost between $15k and $150k, you'd probably be happy the answer is correct (within an order of magnitude). Does it really help solve the problem? If one person gets an estimate of $40k and another $120k, which is more likely to be correct? We simply don't know without knowing the actual answer. Although we should be confident they will both be about the same level of correctness, since they are not that different (within an order of magnitude) even though they look very different on a linear scale. Here it tells you more about the validity of your input estimates than solving the problem. If anything, it is a waste of time trying to calculate it when we already know the order of magnitude of the cost of the average mould. It is $100k. Different people could give other answers of course. What that answer really means is the range $10k to 1m is about right. We already know higher than $200k is unlikely, so someone else might say go for $20k to mean $2k to $200k, cutting out the unlikely range above the constraint and extending it slightly lower. This is not really a Fermi style problem, where we need to calculate the order of magnitude, as in could it be $1, $10, $100, $1k, $10k, $100k, $1m, $10m, etc as we already have the order of magnitude. If an calculation based on various assumptions gave us $100, we'd know our assumptions were incorrect. Similarly if we got $1m. But if we got $40k or $120k, we'd assume we were close enough. Which leads to the real question - is this close enough good enough. What is thereal point of the question and is such an estimate good enough?

Yeah, I am sure some of the smaller long lifetime sets do. The point was that sets that sell in large numbers are likely to be those most widely available, in toy stores and supermarkets and not LEGO exclusives.

The problem here is each estimation is probably order of magnitude at best. Those uncertainties soon add up. I haven't a clue what the average size set is, when weighted by number of sets sold. There are so many assumptions- include CMFs and polybags? They sell in large numbers and drag the average size down.

It is fairly common. I don't think there is much you can do without using an abrasive cleaner that will scratch it off. Just stick the tyres back on!

I doubt LEGO sells a million of any set. A million sets may sell, but not actually by LEGO. The big retailers take their cut and it will be significant. That 30 million dollars of sales is probably closer to 15-20.

That is the way lego pricing has gone recently. Many sets are so overpriced these days, the business model seems to be set prices to allow for a 33% discount.

They did know how many to make when crowdfunding through indiegogo. Yet they were still left with stock which had to then be catalogued on lego.com to get rid of. Presumably in order to turn things around quick enough, they needed to have production running before crowd funding ends. So it may be better for them to decide on a fixed number which will inevitably leave people wanting. Many kickstarter companies can devote their resources to producing the crowd funded project once the funding stage ends, lego cannot. They have other obligations and the crowd funding is a minor activity.

Yes they claimed they sold well, as their published target was just 500 for crowd funding. But they still had to get rid of loads through lego.com instead of through crowd funding to clear stocks of them. They could have done that style crowd funding again with variable numbers, but they chose not to, instead buying BL and going for their way instead.

No, I don't. I just understand that there is more than one way of crowd funding. LEGO have already done the kickstarter style crowd funding through indigogo for FORMA and for whatever reason they were left with quite a lot of sets that did not sell.

That was a widely held view in the past since they disappeared for years. However, this set indicates it is not a problem. I imagine the reason they are not for sale individually is just that they have no inventory ready for B+P yet.

Clearly the right answer here was the third one for you, but the first now you know. It was more complicated for me, as I use some that I know are recognised, some that I know are not, and some that I don't know. But the badly worded question / answer doesn't allow for that. I just went for the one I use most, even though that was not stated.

It turns from being candy (in pastel colours) to chocolate. The speakers and head all twist round to change the look, as well as activating animations in the app.
