  1. Hello, EB. I'm in need of the vast Pirate-fan opinions here. :) I'm working on a smallish ship. It's a severly modified version of the Orient Expedition one. What I'm looking for is some feedback. The colors aren't all matched, because I used what was convenient. It will eventually be all color matched, etc. The fig is a Ferarri pit crew fig, mostly because he was close when I was checking scale. Here is a general picture, to get the whole thing in view. A close up of the rudder system. It's a large lever attached directly to the rudder for navigation. Here's a drawing that illustrates it a bit better. A shot of the figurehead. I'm not happy with it yet. I'm trying to figure how to hid the sides. Any thoughts? Comments? Tips?
  2. Careful, Stevie, or the Credit Card company might put a hold on your account again. ;)
  3. Nah, Phes. We'll hang you for heresy. ;) I've been posting (lurking?) here for quite some time. Like all LEGO forums, I rarely post, but I read most of the topics. Forget about CC? I doubt it. But it's fun to play here, if only for a small while. :)
  4. And what a fabulous family it is. I should get in the habit of posting more. Though, I do make a point to check here nearly ever day, I somehow missed this very important thread.
  5. Interesting. God of truth, God of death, and the representation of the Pharaohs...where the heir was refered to as the "Horus in the Nest". That is kinda neat. Thanks, Brickster!
  6. Thank you for the suggestions. I like the idea for the roof. I may try that next time. As for detail on the building, there are flags hanging on each side, but that's all I could do at the time. It's made of bley, and that is about the extent of my bley supply right there. I'm hoping to get different door hinge colors, but that's all I can find for now. The rest are unsorted in a large bin.
  7. Ah, yes. Guilt, sphyllis and alcohol--gifts from the Old World! I agree. Burning thousands of years of records because you can't read them is a pretty nasty thing to do.
  8. Actually, The contest ended a week ago, but they haven't posted the results yet. For now, I figure the mission is Lindesfarne, because it's the only one I can think of that was built so close to the water and was in fact attacked. And thanks, phes, for realizing and pointing out the greater historical significance. It's easier to do a piece like this with St. Augustine's "On Christine Doctrine" sitting next to me. Woe to thou who must read that book, because man, does he ramble. I would lean towards the convent being the "villian" of the moc, but that's just me.
  9. I had totally forgotten about this. Yeah. It's for CC's Heroes and Villans contest. Which ends today, coincidently. Thanks, all!
  10. I, too, took a screen shot of that earlier. Though, it wasn't for the numeric representation...it was for an odd visitor. So. Google's into LEGO, too. Sweet!
  11. Something tells me that JoJo is a bit bitter about Valentines Day.
  12. A belated thanks for all the well wishers. Needless to say, I spent my birthday in Vegas. I just got home, actually. So yes, I had a great deal of fun for my birthday.
  13. As some of you may be aware, Britian was an outpost of the Roman Empire. When they abandoned their outposts, it was "left" to the missionaries to "tame" it. So, depending on your historical bias, either of these could be the hero or the villian. As to which, I'll leave that up to you. First, we have the generally-accepted heros, the residents of the Monestary. Or, in this case, convent. She's a bit freaked out, as you can see. Though, why they built their church RIGHT ON the water I've yet to figure out. I now give you the "villians", the northmen who aren't quiiiite ready to listen to the priests. So sayeth Saint Augustine, "I am not to blame because they do not understand." At least they're kind enough to knock on the door. Ding Dong! I also considered a comment about riding the surf, but I wasn't sure it fit in context. ;) Follow the Vikings for the Gallery, when public.
  14. Might I ask what you classify as gross?
  15. And some of us have been thanked for being the fairer sex. ;)
  16. Well. This explains why I've been asked if I'm British before. A couple times, actually. Might also explain why I'm a stickler for proper writing.
  17. The little boy lived just south of me. It's quite a tragedy. However, I must clarify some facts. From the news article: Was it the fault of the toy, the parent, the child? Who knows. The magnets fell out, and the child, while not watched by the parents, swallowed it. Blaming it solely on MegaBlocks is slander, when the company isn't necessarily to blame. Yes, their toy failed, but it was given to a child underneath the recommended age limit. Really, it's a tragedy, and I don't think anyone is completely to blame.
  18. Well, I wasn't quite going for the three-some...But whatever floats your boat.
  19. There are laws, yes, but there are bigger fish to fry. I live near WalMart. *wacko* Thanks!
  20. ...Like a woman scorned. Or rather, who had her car broken into. *twisted* Needless to say, the new year started with all the cars on my small block being broken into. They trashed the locking mechanism on my driver's side door ($831 worth of parts and labor to fix!!) for a measly $30 cellphone charger. I am not pleased. Especially since all it takes is a little patience and a wire of some sort to do the same thing. Less time, less hassle. :| On to the MOC! We see here my sigfig carrying my favorite weapon of choice. The minifig representation of my boyfriend ensures that the punk kid doesn't escape. An overhead view. I find that the viking horns make for excellent wall hooks, or places to push an unruly teenager with nothing better to do than break into my car. An exploded version, to better see the punk kid. I figured the Ron face was appropriate, seeing as extracurricular activities tend to go hand in hand. I'll make it clear I wish no ill on the perpetrator, just a good kick in the balls to knock some sense into him. ;) Gallery, when public.
  21. In which country do you live? United States Which education did you choose? Why? I chose to go for an Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences degree because it interested me. This degree offers a lot of different pathways, like musuem work and teaching. Did someone force you to take this education? If yes, who did it? No. I chose to do this on my own. What expectations did your friends and/or family have about your education? About grades? Did the above somehow affected your education? My original intent was to take a year off inbetween Community college/High School (I did both at the same time) and my next step. Everyone thought I wouldn't go back, but I did. Then, I was expected to make decent grades, which I did. The attitudes originally made me more defiant and determined to go back to school, but then those later turned into support of what I was doing.
  22. I see a fundemental problem with Hot Wheels in that it's already a toy. Bricks or not, it's still the brand name of toy cars.
  23. Darkie

    Rarest?

I've got a pony. Isn't it so cute? As far as sets go, I've still got an unopened Black Falcon's Fortress re-release as well as an unopened Blacksmith's Shop that I picked up off ebay for less than retail. After it was sold out.
  24. There is no shame in building torture chambers. I always do it tastefully! ;)
  25. It's impolite to ask a Lady her age. ;) 20, 21 in four weeks.
