Pretty close but not quite there. The biggest deviation is at the tail wing and the nose of course.

Since all the other Concorde submissions on Ideas used plate stacking or other techniques I took that one as a reference because it uses the same flat slope bricks. Of course LEGO will say they developed the model in parallel, but it's not the first time they make a set after seeing there is high interest on Ideas for a specific model (e.g. Fiat 500).

Why does the stand need to be weighted and larger? If the placement is in the center of mass, it will not tip over. Regarding the landing gear they seem sturdy enough and with the worm gears will get self-locked. Definitely better than the ones used in the Airbus helicopter. The squared wings looks bad though and something they copied off another Ideas entry: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/e4fe7a39-43f2-4c01-8fd3-ec85ff191e5d instead of looking at the one that achieved the 10.000 votes but was rejected less then a year ago with the explanation: "Our team has thoroughly considered the possibility of releasing this project as a LEGO set according to the criteria of the LEGO Review. Unfortunately, the LEGO Review Board has decided that we will not produce this project as a set. Thank you to Orbiter88 [...] We’re sorry to deliver this disappointing news." https://ideas.lego.com/projects/f4d4c923-963d-4ec0-b5d0-0004032da22e

Oh man, that front section and nose are ugly as hell and why on earth would they reveal how much a unicorn threw up in the interior just to show the retractable landing gear linked to the tilting nose cone?

2024 Technic Sets Discussion
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really curious how TLG will make the tellurion compared to the excellent CaDA model that costs only half the price. I highly doubt it will be this accurately designed as JK Brickworks did and most likely not ready for motorization. The rest of the space themed sets sound very interesting and a welcome addition to the never ending line-up of vehicles we are used to. Hope the Mars Crew Exploration Rover will be something like the rover from the movie "The Martian" and less like this concept showroom model: That set is not NASA licensed! In fact the only thing that is on the box is the MARS Perseverance mission identifier logo, which probably only required an approval by JPL/NASA or T. Van Schneider. You can also freely use the name NASA as long as the meatball logo and work mark are not placed together. Since NASA is a federal agency it does not hold the usual copyright protection and will not endorse a commercial product anyway. https://www.nasa.gov/audience/formedia/features/Merchandising_Guidelines.html -
42146 - Liebherr LR13000
R0Sch replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I've asked my local store manager how the Liebherr crane was selling and the answer was "pretty good", they had to restock the shelves once yesterday. On the other hand there is only room for 2 sets, so not that great I would say... Was also surprised how small the box size is, compared to the CAT D11 (almost same volume) or the John Deere Skidder (half the volume) and the Eiffel Tower, which is still cheaper by 50€, but double the box volume and 50% heavier. I guess the most sets bought by a single individual is 91 (BL reseller from NL) followed by the 20 from that German reseller who wants 5€ per counterweight piece. Thanks but no thanks! -

What do you mean? The set numbers are released in subsequent order each year, with minor exceptions like the Liebherr crane which got postponed by a year. So sorting by set number is pretty close to sorting by year. And I did not expect the data to be an accurate comparison, just mearly a gathering of PPW for reference. For instance, one can easily see that last years 42140 tops every Technic set released so far in PPW. One could also argue why not take out pins and 1x1 parts from PPP ratios entirely, right? Them why even take the Ferrari Daytona in particular for your video? Just to make the Liebherr crane look good in comparison? If you'd taken a more appropriate set like 42100 (same license, similar number of electronic components but with only 97 €/kg) this crane would still end up being 50% overpriced. -

I disagree. Here are the most expensive Technic elements sorted from highest to lowest from B&P's: -

But then you'd also have to take out the rims and tires, etc. -

Here is a quick and dirty summary of price/gramm for all Technic sets from 42000 to 42158 based on the part weights taken from brickmerge (don't know how accurate those are). and after LEGO's MSRP increases: and the sets sorted from worst to best ratio: -

Here's another well written and informative review I found while browsing: https://brickarchitect.com/2023/review-lego-technic-42146-liebherr-crawler-crane-lr-13000/ And a comparison to Big Red from brickfanatics's review: -

Yes, simply set filter "Sort by: Newest" (Legújabb) and choose "Technic" to avoid seeing DUPLO and System parts too.- 5,506 replies

"Woudn't" and "not allowed" are two different things. Of course they don't like stepping into the spotlight if they have to churn out one licensed model after the next in record time, instead of machinery where they could let their creativity flow. I wouldn't either if at the end all I'd get is criticism on all possible channels and get blamed for corporate cost-savings. Technic Designers used to be proud to put their initials on the stickers and I really loved watching the Designer Workshop videos. Btw, you can get the 41.2g mass of the counterweight elements with a higher density plastic. My guess is they are not made of ABS (since lacking the typical LEGO shine) but made of PA or PC. -

Another explanation for the big price tag is that TLG had to purchase a new larger molding machine to be able to produce those thick ABS slabs and for all the frame-struts smaller ones. Or it could be because they know this set is a failure, that couldn't be fixed even with a year delay, and to compensate the losses some genius from finance suggested to increase the price by 50% and reach the same sales as selling more copies for cheaper would yield. They would still get full price from retailers, but the retailers would have to discount the set heavily to be able to get them off the shelves. Amazon, Proshop and the likes can afford such losses anyway. -

Not sure about the rest of the Technic fans here, but I for one am not hyped about the reviews because I never buy Technic on day one and am able to make my own purchase decision without the subjective opinion of reviewers. Some sets even receive a design change later in the manual and part list e.g. fixing the bad working engine in the cement mixer truck, not to mention the significant price drops after just a couple of weeks. So it always pays off to be patient. I believe this set will be best bought second hand, as it takes up so much space and will most likely not even end up collecting dust. So expect near new condition for half the retail price at minimun. Besides, some certified shop will most likely post a speed-build before the embargo date anyway. ;) -

They definetly changed the materials of the pins (probably from POM to PA). The newest 2L, 3L pins are not only softer but much more slippery, making them easier to use in aligning assemblies (like modular buildings) but they also have less friction and pulling them out is therefore more difficult by hand. Here is a good article about all the different materials LEGO uses in it's portfolio: https://bricknerd.com/home/every-type-of-plastic-used-by-lego-5-20-22- 5,506 replies

I saw those, but I mean close-ups. The Gringot Ts has a nice close-up pic of the minifigures for instance.
