Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Bob De Quatre replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Stay on target guys! This thread is to discuss Lego Star Wars question, not the upcoming movie. -
Cheers to your wife for giving you some square feets A MOD won't be sufficient! Build Anio's or mine

That's an awesome room! (Except for the SSD)

That's because you use the "attach" feature of Eurobricks that isn't meant to use for hosting pictures. You should take a look at the Flickr tutorial.

I'd like people to stay away of items that they shouldn't possess, like Anakin's podracer, Tarfful's comb, Amidala's panties or the Deathly hallows... (oh wait, wrong license) Using a famous item, known in the whole galaxy, won't earn you more points. And I find it difficult to justify a story about it. There are a lot that can be said about everyday items and how/why they are important to you. Try to focus on the relation between you, the item and it's previous owner. I don't want to blame Pointblank for not following guidelines that weren't clear from the start. That said, there is still plenty of time to change an entry before the deadline...

A new entry, that's for sure, and it's written in the rules You can keep the same ancestor, but I'd prefer if you use a different heirloom.

It's Star Wars, of course uncles/aunts are allowed!

[SoNE Freebuild 15] Fixing to Clear the Mind
Bob De Quatre replied to MKJoshA's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
The judges really said that? -
The item does not have to be job related. It has to be owned by your ancestor at some point.
-
No planet restriction. No height restriction. SoNE is set between episodes 5 and 6. For this particular episode, your "ancestor build" can take place at any previous era of your choice. The rules states no clone brand or third party custom parts. As long as you are using non-modified Lego parts you're good. The two builds must be separated, so that the staff can score them separately. But connecting them with a hinge is fine.

That's correct. The 14th... Sorry

Rebel trooper: "During one of the battles of the Clone Wars my father was taken hostage by droids. He was rescued by Clone Troopers thankfully. Before they left him to go save someone else, one of them gave him this holdout blaster to protect himself with. I've kept it with me ever since leaving home to remind myself to watch out for people in trouble and to help them if I can." Rebel Mon Calamari: "Slurp" Stormtrooper #1: "So that's why I always keep this old Clone Wars era blaster with me." Stormtrooper #2: "Wow! That's a lot of history wrapped up in an old blaster! See this data chip? It's all I have left of my father. He was a droid builder on Kuat before he got killed in a firefight between one of the nobles he worked for and a disgruntled servant. This chip was all I was able to recover from his work shop. Someday I hope to build a droid that can translate it for me but until then I keep fighting for the Empire. The Empire brings order whenever it goes. Had there been more order on Kuat, my father never would have died." The rules: All rules in the Core Rules topic apply unless otherwise stated in this explanation. The Empire's goal and the Alliance's goal is to depict two scene: one showing their character with it's heirloom item remembering the past, and one depicting their character's ancestor using the item. Heirloom item can be anything, but it must be transmissible to your character and coherent with the Star Wars universe. The "character scene" has a 16x16 base size limitation with allowance for reasonable overhang. If there are any doubts about what counts as “reasonable” contact one of the SoNE staff. The "Past scene" don't have any size limitation. The two scene should be posted in the same thread. The Episode will run from November 10th to December 14th January 4th. As long as it is still December 14th somewhere in the world, you can still enter. Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the episode and will not be eligible to receive points or XP. Entries will be judged with up to 4 points awarded to the "character scene" and 6 points to the "past scene". This episode/contest is open to all players of Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the episode has begun, with the exception of the Star Wars staff, who are not eligible to win XP or prizes; the EB admins and moderators, who are not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP; and the episode host, who is not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP. All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the episode. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation. All entries must be built from real LEGO or with Lego Digital Designer. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts. All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Watto's Junkyard subforum, the title prefixed by, "[soNE Ep. 7]". (For example, "[soNE Ep. 7] An old blaster".) Post pictures no larger than 1000x720, as specified in the EB Member Guidelines. You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects onone picture. All your other pictures may have no editing other than color adjustment or background removal for a solid-color background. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC. The Prizes: All the players on the winning team will receive this tag to commemorate their victory (NOTE: this tag is a work in progress and may change). You can only have one of these tags or one of the Community Build tags at a time, but a log will be kept of all the tags you've earned in your profile in the Characters topic. The player who receives the most total individual points, regardless of team, is guaranteed a spot among the next set of the blog's Showcased MOCs. (This member must still be able to provide a picture big enough and of suitable quality to be used in the Showcased banner.) You will receive XP equal to the number of points you are awarded from the judges.

Standing for Marine, Air, Naval Tracking & Intervention Services, M.A.N.T.I.S. is specialized in protection, surveillance, security training requirements, and covert operations. Created long ago by Mr. Leone Cor when he decided to turn away from his illegal activities to begin a new life as head of a successful private security company. His business grew fast through former and new contracts for personnel protection, security staff training, and surveillance operations. Mr. Cor and his company left Earth with the first deep space exploration corporations to pioneer his company’s services in space. With his adult son by his side M.A.N.T.I.S. flourished providing the specialized services for deep space. After too many years of providing services to very successful resource extraction mining companies, Mr. Cor realized he could transform M.A.N.T.I.S. to include covert mining operations. With internal extraction, processing, and re-distribution of resources, profits began to soar and the company grew exponentially. This was an exceptional year as his twin children Maxxene and Maxximus were born. After a full and happy life in space, Mr. Cor passed away in his sleep at the age of 90. His twin children took over the family business and continued in their father's footsteps. Maxxene and Maxximus Cor The Council of Five Now with the twins Maxxene and Maxximus Cor running the corporation together and heading up The Council Of Five, M.A.N.T.I.S. has emerged as one of the top three dominating corporations in the galaxy. With Maxxene heading up the covert security and mining operations side and her younger brother Maxximus in charge of the business/public relations side, M.A.N.T.I.S. has grown more in the past year than in previous years. Together they continually strive to fulfill their father’s dying wish to covertly rise above the rest to be the top resource corporation. Gaining employment at M.A.N.T.I.S. is no easy task, but their is always a need for competent and qualified pilots, technicians and people to know how to fight. Potential recruits must have a solid background in both mining and some form of military/security forces service. Extreme survival skills is a plus. Upon acceptance to the training program, recruits are tested at various skill levels under extreme conditions. Rumor is that on the inside, M.A.N.T.I.S. really stands for Mean And Nasty Trained Invasion Soldiers and that the real corp goals from the founder are written on the motivational wall inside the cafeteria. M.A.N.T.I.S. outpost on Torresta Torresta - "A hot and active young planet, constant volcanic eruptions change landscape." MANTIS was the first to settle on one of the planets in the Andremeda system. Their exploration and colonisation vessel landed on a sturdy rock on a violet planet, they called Torresta. Hazed by eruptions the search for Awesomnium was an easy success. A large vain was just under the crust of a nearby mountain. Scanning the surface of the surrounding area revealed that this planet could be harvested for resources for quite some time. The board was pleased with the mission and sent out more colonisation ships. By the end of the year, more than half a dozen small settlements and mining facilities dug into the mountainous surface of Torresta in search of the riches. In a constant flow, transport vessels went in empty and out of orbit fully stocked. It didn’t take long before the order came to investigate surrounding planets. Torresta is a hot planet, the volcanic eruptions, the black clouds of burning dust and the slow rotation of the planet make it a horrific place to stay. The days are long and thus the nights also. The temperature doesn’t really go down at night, so it’s steaming hot during the whole time. The oxygen level is very low, but still breathable. The gravity is similar to home. Nevertheless MANTIS choose this to be their home planet. Between the red veins of burning stone lays a treasure. Our great founder Osamu Kawashita was only 14 when he sold his first idea for an improved robot power conservation system to a local industrial firm. He managed to negotiate a stake in ongoing sales, and when the word of how well these new robots worked, the sales were huge. This gave Kawashita enough money to buy a small factory and begin working on his own ideas full time. By the time he was 35, Kawashita's company was a multi-billion dollar powerhouse in robotics and bio-mechanics. To realise his next dream, Kawashita began a long term plan that saw the newly named Kawashita Group begin to acquire most of it's rival companies. This was achieved usually through a variety of subtle methods, leaving his competitors unaware of the takeover until it was too late. For this reason, the Kawashita Group was eyed with a mix of envy and dislike for its success in hostile takeovers. After a ten year long steady takeover of nearly every competitor in the field, Kawashita was finally in a position to launch its next groundbreaking products. Gorilla drone Experiments on drive systems By reducing the size of the enormous drive systems used in large spaceships, Kawashita was able to create a range of tiny power sources with unheard of capabilities. Combined with their already incredible quality robotics components, Kawashita was able deliver a new generation of cyborg parts, droids, and even large size mecha units capable of feats unheard of, including short and medium range space flight in some mecha. This unlocked the ability for planets everywhere to further exploit interplanetary mining, and has ensured the Kawashita Group's long running success. Twenty years later and they are the dominant player in all things robotic, and wild rumours of incredible, unseen, and sometimest unethical technologies are spreading. Little is known of the current leadership of the company. It is widely held that members of the Kawashita's family run the different divisions of the company, but they are rarely seen in public, and no one is really sure which family member runs which division of the company. Rumors even says that Osamu Kawashita is still alive, most of his body replaced by machines, and that he has been running the company himself since the beginning. Kawashita Group's council Orinshi - "Large jungles and swamp areas are broken up by sweeping tundra plains." Not long after Octan and MANTIS already send out their colonisation vessels, Kawashita finished their fleet. Instead of launching an expedition, they send the whole fleet at once. Equipped with enough materials to build a colony of exponential size. They landed on a planet with such beauty, that the first arrivals instantly fell in love with the place, Awesomnium or not. Fortunately they stumbled upon a large stock of it, so the board was pleased with Orinshi as their home planet. They discovered a suitable planets more than three months later than their competitors, still with their level of technology, Kawashita Group finished their colony long before the others. Within weeks they were fully operational and ready for the next wave of recruits to exploit the surrounding planets. Orinshi seems like a large planet, but nothing is less true. Between the dense foliage of the rainforests, the small shifting islands of the marshes are some habitable plains, but they tend to be furthest from the Awesomnium. The climate on the other hand is one of the finest they encountered. A soft temperature, moist in most regions and rich on oxygen. Gravity needs a little assistance, but nothing with great magnitude. Kawashita decided to do the most logic and build their settlement on the plains and use mobile facilities to extract resources.
