  1. My guess is it's a Limited/Special Edition set only available at a specific retailer. Like in the United States, 4205: Off-Road Command Center was exclusive to Target, 4429: Helicopter Rescue is exclusive to Wal-Mart, and 4430: Fire Transporter is exclusive to Toys "R" Us. It's my understanding these Limited/Special Edition sets aren't shown at these 'general' retailer exhibitions. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  2. There's a Yahoo! Movies article with the description of the train set. The chase is on to save Rebecca and Danny from Butch Cavendish and his gang of henchmen onboard the speeding train, Constitution! Help Tonto to place the dynamite and blow up the water tower to stop the speeding train in its tracks! Ride to the rescue with the Lone Ranger alongside on his trusty horse, Silver. Jump aboard the highly detailed locomotive with 3 cars and dodge the gatling gun! Uncover the secret coal wagon hideout, blow the prison wagon door with the dynamite and escape to safety with Rebecca and Danny! Based on the Technic beam used and the new pictures, it probably "blows" a panel off the back of the prison wagon. I don't think there's any "action" feature on the locomotive itself. The brown Technic element looks to be element 32294: Lt Suspension and it appears to be a brace to hold the rear wheels of the stagecoach in place. Unfortunately I don't own this element so I can't say if it has any sort of flex to provide a measure of suspension for the stagecoach. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  3. From the Yahoo! Movies article: The chase is on to save Rebecca and Danny from Butch Cavendish and his gang of henchmen onboard the speeding train, Constitution! (Emphasis added) I don't think the mechanism blows the sliding doors off but based on the Technic beam used, it probably "blows" a panel off the back of the prison wagon. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  4. Thanks for sharing! I'm excited for all the play features almost as much for the train itself! It's amazing how much is packed into this set! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  5. From approximately June to November (in the United States), LEGO offered several 'Virtual Product Collections:' 5001130: The Battle of Helm's Deep Collection 5001132: The Lord of the Rings Collection 5001133: Monster Fighters Collection 5001134: Mining Collection If I remember correctly, only a couple of the collections offered a savings. The Lord of the Rings Collection offered 9470: Shelob Attacks 'free.' Monster Fighters Collection offered 9461: The Swamp Creature 'free.' Double VIP points were also available for Monster Fighters Collection and Mining Collection. I'm fairly certain double VIP points were not available on The Lord of the Rings sets. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  6. Thanks for sharing those old commercials! Makes me want to build my old Pirates sets. Remember the story each set had on the inside box flap? Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  7. Howdy and welcome to Eurobricks! You could always use element 47905 stacked perpendicular with one another instead of element 4733. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  8. Very nice! Reminds me of some of the campgrounds along the coast in Florida. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  9. Glad to hear I could inspire you! So how many are you going to make?! What locomotive will you build to pull them? If you have one, 3741 Large Locomotive / 3742 Tender looked really good pulling my reefers and Maersk boxcars. If you want to keep the rungs on the side of the boxcar inline with those on the bogies, you could do something like this: .lxf file All the pieces at both the base level and initial 1x level are all available in red. Unfortunately, some of the parts required are can be expensive. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  10. Thanks, everyone! Check out Jake McKee's Brickshelf for some additional inspiration. Jake's the author of Getting Started with LEGO Trains and has some great rolling stock. He also did the Bricks on the Brain web site which is unfortunately only available through the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. zephyr1934's Brickshelf also has some great boxcars. Thanks! I wish I could say I came up with the cargo pallets but I borrowed from 7733 Truck & Forklift and 7734 Cargo Plane. The detail is all James Mathis & Jack McKee. The only changes I made were substituting 3666 Plate 1x6 for 3795 Plate 2x6 and using 92280 Plate 1x2 w. Vertical Grip instead of 2555 Plate 1x1 w. Up Right Holder and 3024 Plate 1x1 like in the original instructions. While I was working in LEGO Digital designer, I tried to use parts available in Maersk/Pastel Blue, Medium Stone Gray, and Black. I had BrickLink open checking parts availability while designing! I used Reddish Brown on the interior since Earth Orange (LEGO Brown) was used on the Old-Style Refrigerator Car and Black just didn't look right. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  11. Those are some really neat airplanes! Thanks for sharing! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  12. A while back I made a couple boxcars to go with my 10219 Maersk Train. They're based on the Old-Style Refrigerator Car in Getting Started with LEGO Trains by Jacob H. McKee (a wonderful book). I used part 2874, which BrickLink calls Door Sliding - Type 2, and is unavailable in LEGO Digital Designer. I had to consult instructions for sets such as 4563 Load N' Haul Railroad to plan the correct brick height separating 4510 Plate 1x8 with Rail. I originally planned to tile the floor using 87079 Flat Tile 2x4 but decided to add some play value by adding rails for some pallets (pictures in the Flickr set). The boxcars seem a bit small next to the Maersk intermodal cars but I think they add some variety. I hope you enjoy! Flickr set .lxf file hosted on Brickshelf. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  13. The 'small' sets don't really appeal to me but I'm really looking forward to 42008 Service Truck and 42009 Mobile Crane Mk II. Since I just built 8043 Motorized Excavator, I'm on the fence about 42006 Excavator. 42000 Grand Prix Racer looks pretty neat but I don't have enough information to make an informed decision. 2013 looks to be a really good year with the most sets since 2000. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  14. Fixed the link; thank you! I wonder if the the torso isn't 6021860: Mini Upper Part No 2249 from 60004 Fire Station? Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  15. 3677 Red Cargo Train was listed as Retiring Soon since around November on the US shop.LEGO.com site. I went back and re-read Brickset's Retiring soon list at shop.LEGO.com article and it looks like the Retiring Soon filter was (is?) only available to folks in the USA and Canada. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  16. The forklift in 60022 Cargo Terminal looks spectacular! It looks to be a heavier-duty forklift and perfect for transferring heavier cargo to a train. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  17. The Coast Guard Helicopter looks pretty sharp! The new nose piece looks really nice and can be used from some great helicopter builds! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  18. Odd the set is worth more used than new. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  19. Howdy! A while back I picked up a new, but not sealed, 6989 Multi Core Magnetizer and I'm curious about the current value. As you can see, BrickLink doesn't provide much insight. The box isn't in the greatest condition (maybe 7-8 out of 10) but all parts are present and still sealed. Any ideas on the set's worth? Thanks! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  20. 8856 Whirlwind Rescue. It's a fascinating set! If you're only including sets in the Power Functions era, 8053 Mobile Crane is a great set. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  21. What a phenominal farm! You could add a chicken coop for your chickens. If you have any hopper cars for your railroad, you could also build a grain loader. I've seen some folks use 5891 Apple Tree House and the house from 4999 Vestas Wind Turbine as farm houses before if you're looking for an official set to use. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  22. It looks like the plane in 60022 Cargo Terminal improved on the limited storage in 7734 Cargo Plane. The conveyer truck looks really neat and well-designed. I'm a sucker for a well-designed forklift and the one in 7733 Truck & Forklift set the bar for me. The one in 60020 Cargo Truck looks very promising! I've not made up my mind on the Coast Guard sets but the boat in 60015 Coast Guard Plane looks good enough to be a set by itself. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  23. Thank you for the nice review, KielDaMan. My only complaint about the build is the somewhat repetitive process / symmetry of the front and back of the truck. Once I got over that, the truck grew on me. It's a great addition to the LEGO CITY fire department! I should also add the past two years are great years for fire trucks at the $19.99 price point. Both 4208 Fire Truck and 60002 Fire Truck are great sets Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  24. For some reason, I never actually motorized my 10173 Holiday Train even though I purchased a 9V motor and the two black 3710 Plate 1x4 elements required to do so. I would imagine with a long enough electric wire you could add a headlight. 3748 Light Unit for Train includes a 36-stud-long wire but I don't know if it's long enough for 79111 Constitution Train Chase. You'd have to get creative with the buffer attachment but I suppose it could be done. Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
  25. You could have a large part of the museum be outside, much like many of the railway museums where visitors can tour the locomotives and rolling stock. If you do, don't forget to have a train visitors can drive on the museum's track! Cheers from Claremore, Oklahoma USA! Dave
