^ Yes!

^ I think they just simply weren't pushed down properly that's all. There are a lot of inconsistencies at the New York Toy Fair, like how Metalbeards Sea Cows back sails were on backwards.
-
Exactly alois, the children are the focal demographic :)

One thing which is kind of funny is that people often say that the passenger train looks the same as the others ... when only one white sleek one nose pieced train was ever released, back in 2006 and it had a flaw.
-
Sorry, I meant the power functions elements, the receiver, wires and the power box.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/eiker86/12498864423/ In this picture from LEGOworld Copenhagen, the nose piece of the train is perfectly flush, if you expand the image. I've noticed that it seems as though if they were to push down the piece in the New York toy fair picture, then it would be perfectly flush. For some reason though, the New York toy fair LEGO stands always have small inconsistencies. I noticed that the Cargo Train wasn't on the track properly and the Metalbeards Sea Cow back sails were on backwards. I believe this train costs more because of the new, I would say very intricate front train mould and the added electric equipment.

^ I love that the new passenger train is almost a rehash of 7897, because now they can make the mould flush and so we can have the mould we should have received back in 2006 with 7897. I also love super sleek, modern, high-speed bullet style trains!

^ I'm not sure, I was really amazed too. I just found the link on the CITY 2014 discussion forum :)

There are pictures of the passenger and cargo train here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/eiker86/sets/72157640883343644/with/12498746775/

Oh my gosh! THE NEW PASSENGER TRAIN LOOKS STUNNING! Oh my gosh .... I can't even fkejwjejfweak!
-
I also just noticed, if you full screen the image on YouTube of the Passenger Train, you can see the battery box, wires and receiver in the last carriage through the windows if you look carefully, only just noticed it. :)
-
You are most welcome :)

^ The new Passenger Train has two engines on each end and a carriage in the middle, in the new picture the nose piece is just cut off by the power functions tab. Also in the toy fair image you can see the last engine on the back as well, It's not like HE it's like 7897 or the previous red Passenger Train. I just searched playmobil and I don't get the reference, though I never knew what playmobil was until people started mentioning it. Personally if helicopters and planes can have custom noses then trains can too, to achieve the sleep elegant design they intend. I can't wait to buy multiples of the Passenger Train! :)

Now I'm just more excited for the Passenger Train!

Piranha, true, I just personally felt it was a little bland, though I'm sure perhaps in real life in front of you it looks great :)

I absolutely love these new trains so much, they are by far my most eagerly exciting sets this year. I haven't bought a LEGO set in about five years, though many I have considered, like the Tower of Orthanc, however these two sets I will definitely be buying multiples of, especially the passenger train. I love that we are receiving a modern, sleek, elegant, stylish train that suits this day and age of passenger trains in Europe! Hopefully we can finally have a train that fixes the flaw presented in 7897 and the front mould should hopefully actually fit flush. The new cargo train is also such a welcomed change, the blue, the interesting freight. Both trains have certainly capitivated the essence of unique trains and I'm sure all people, kids especially will love these new additions. If planes and helicopters can have moulded pieces, trains can too!

Personally in my opinion the last two trains in 2010 were terrible. The red one's brick built front didn't even transcend smoothly into the curved pieces on it's roof, something which I only noticed yesterday. And the Passenger train was very small as well as having black windows to hide the battery box. The cargo train looked a bit bland in my opinion and slightly ugly, though I don't like the actual engine in real life. It's freight was a random tanker, a flat bed with smart cars and a box. Personally these new trains blow the last two out of proportion with a nice new refreshing change in colour, interesting freight and the passenger train is sleek and elegant and can make up for the flaw hopefully in 7897.

Hehehe, I love the community here :') I was really shocked when I saw the new nose piece, I wasn't sure but now after viewing it plenty of times it looks really sleek and nice :) I believe it will look even better in real life! :D I can't wait for the toy fair pictures!

I agree, I think LEGO isn't cheap using a front mold, especially because LEGO has been using large molds for many of it's vehicles, planes, helicopters, boats even smaller parts of models. Unfortunately certain models that are based off certain designs in real life, almost have to have a molded section. Like I also said in a previous comment this train is based off the ICE and so recreating that with bricks would be very difficult, may not look good, would drive the piece count up, may be challenging for young builders, which this is where the model is suppose to be based towards anyway. I think the new mold looks amazing and other websites agree, including groovebricks.

Thank you ritzcrackerman, very well said. I completely agree with everything you expressed. I'm sure the toy fair pictures and the final product will show that this nose piece looks even better, the more I look at it the more I really like it and I am very excited for it to come out. When I look at 7897, it just doesn't look as modern compared to the new one, which is obvious as to why and I completely agree that this new piece needs to be made so we can pretend 7897's flaw never happened. For me one of the most disappointing aspects of 7897 is that basically all of it's advertising, box, instructions, catalogues all showed it not having the flaw, they all showed it having no gap and being perfectly aligned with the set, however on further viewing, you can actually see light coming through the gap, on the box and the catalogues! Which means LEGO knew about the issue whilst they were taking the photo of the set to place on the box and they just edited it out :( So now we have this nice new sleek mold and hopefully soon we will see how great it is.

In my most humble opinion, the nose piece for the High-speed Passenger train is growing on me. First and foremost it is a 'preliminary image' so the end result will not only look better but will have far more detail as supported by the preliminary image of LEGO 7897 Passenger Train in 2006. It had a lot of major detail differences in the final product. Some pieces were not even included and some of the pieces colours were completely changed, all will be revealed in the upcoming toy fairs. In my opinion I believe LEGO releases singular molded sections for it's sets, like planes, helicopters and trains for a number of reasons. 1.) To make them look more realistic. 2.) To compensate for the small section in which they have to work with, in which using bricks to make it look smooth like the 'real thing' would only drive up the piece count and it may not look good depending on the design they're trying to replicate, like an ICE train for example. 3.) If it can work for planes and Helicopters why not trains? 4.) All sets have to be in a certain range, the passenger train normally being of a lower piece count than the cargo train so the design must fit that category with the design. Making an ICE train replica or inspired design with a non molded piece may drive it's piece count higher than the cargo train.

Thank you :) Now I'm even more curious ... by the sounds of it I'm guessing it is moulded ... I hope it's a sleek and attractive mould if it is one.
-
That is true, variaton is also appreciated :) However one thing I did notice is that this year so far we have not had any City sets with moulded front peices, including planes and helicopters. So if the Passenger Train has a moulded peice it will be the only set so far with a moulded peice this year, which I would be fine with and if it looks very nice then it will be an added bonus, that's just my opinion hehe. Unfortunately the peice count, price, size, proportions and demographic of the set impact the design heavily. The design will also evidently impact the peice count and what not. The more sleaker the inspiration for the design, the more peices or need for a moulded peice which is why the 7897 Passenger Train had a moulded front peice as it was based on the ICE Train, even though you most likely know all of this ahaha. The peice count may has rised far higher and the Cargo Train would have to have it's peice count raised higher. I'd like to see LEGO make up for it's mistakes with 7897 Passenger Train and make a new mould that can replace the flaws that 7897 had in it. That's just my opinion :)

:O If I may ask and if you are able to reveal, know or give the tiniest hint does the new Passenger Train have a moulded piece for the front? Or does it bear resemblance to the 2006 7897 Passenger Train? Does it look really sleek and nice? Hehehe,

Captain America replied to soundwave_sw's topic in LEGO Town
Amazing! Truly inspiring! I was just wondering what pieces are those that make the Helicopter tail? Both the long yellow lines and the yellow mini figure like arms that hold them together, what are those? I have never seen them? :o Wonderful creation, so talented!- 24 replies
