  1. Very nice technique. Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Will surely be trying this in future.
  2. MKJoshA, thank you for the awesome episode!
  3. Yes, the story will be added. I'm on the road now, so I started both posts moments after I finished shooting end editing, and then left. I'll try to complete the first post today, but in case I won't be able to - at least one picture will be there.
  4. There is surely one now. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
  5. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- We were only able to send a very small unit to Bothawui. Due to heavy imperial presence in the city, the team was mostly moving below the city streets. Under the city market, the local rebel sympathizers had shown the team the computer terminal with an access to some interesting information... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - "Thank you guys for your assistance. I hope that we are able to find something there." - "Yeah! Just give me a few minutes and we'll see. This seems to be an old terminal connected to library... and the one which is rarely used. Interesting... Are you sure Fett was the last user here?" - "Our sources indicate exactly that. Fett had been here a week ago. He was searching for information about slugs in the deserts and was especially interested in local archives." ... some minutes later - "I think I've found something. It is not much, only one inquiry was decrypted, but I believe this is exactly what we need. J-A-B-B-A-S P-A-L-A-C-E." -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The build: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
  6. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The team that was sent to Ord Mantell had finally been able to locate the smugglers' refueling station in the middle of a large junkyard. As the smugglers' activities were of no interest for the team, it was only the information what mattered. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- - "What do you know on the location of a bounty hunter named Boba Fett?" - "Who? Boby Fiatt? Haven't heard of the guy with such a name." - "Don't you try to play with us on that. We know that he was on Ord Mantell, and we've located the ship leaving this sector. We already told you that we are not interested in your little business here and we shall leave as we arrived: quietly and with no other questions asked... unless you decide to keep the information we are looking for undisclosed. In this case we 'd have to stay here for a little longer. And you wouldn't want that to happen." - "Sir! The refueling station mainframe on the lower level shows that the Slave II was exactly here three standard days ago." - "Anything else to add you have?" - "So... The Fett, huh. He 'd been here a while ago. You 've missed him for a few days, actually. Always thought you rebels are quicker in such matters." - "Have you got any information on his final destination?" - "Ummmm... not really. He uses this place only to refuel. The only thing he told was something about Felucia... and the information on the scanner shows the direction of his hyperjump towards there as well." - "It seems that you may tell truth on that... Unfortunately, there is no new information here. However, as we promised, we will leave now." -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Overview of the location. The base is located underground. One of the entrances is marked by a wreck of an AT-AT leg directly above. The lowest level houses the refueling station mainframe, directly above it are the walkways and one of the computer terminals. Directly above the entrance, on the carcass of the AT-AT leg the smugglers had installed a satellite dish and small platform. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Some technical specs and extra comments: The base is 13*13 studs, and the overhang there brings it to 14*14. On top, where the rock piece is, it is 15*15 in the widest spot, And there is some (small) overhang of the AT-AT leg's "claws" on top of the rock. I've always wanted to build a proper size AT-AT, and this leg was staying on the table for a year now already, but I didn't move any further with the construction since. Even been thinking of disassembling it ... but luckily didn't do that. The moment I've red the task for this episode, I new what will be put on top of that.
  7. Great MOC!
  8. I thought they'd move it for the next judgement group and I'll have a chance to improve it.
  9. :) No problem. In my case the modification is pretty straightforward: two 1*2 slopes are to be replaced with the pieces with prints.
  10. Understood. Argeed. Certainly shall modify the cockpit.
  11. Thenk you for the comments. The article was also interesting to read, however, i do remember the railings in "No, I am your father" scene. :) The "white on white" is really an issue here. Have to practice more, both in MOCing and photography. I've totally forgotten about the SNoT possibilities... as i am writing this message the bunch of ideas are coming to my mind. Oh well...there 's still MOCs to be done to tell the story. :)
  12. The second freebuild is here. The intention is to tell a story of joining the Alliance via a few freebuilds before the next challenge is up.
  13. It was one of these days when everything began as it normally does... Wick was approaching the landing pad located in the middle of the cliff. This should have been a smugglers' place - as no other kind would have picked this place far from large cities and trade routes and placed a modular platform able to support only small ships. A mining company, for example, would have chosen much bigger and sturdier platform, and the military outpost would not be interested in a services of an individual proprietor like Wick. In addition, the portable tracking and guidance station was placed on a small ledge right above the cave entrance. The cargo was, however, absolutely legal - some local food and supplies - Wick had made sure of that. There were first only a TC protocol droid and a Clatooinian tracking station operator visible upon descent, but once the engine has been stopped, three more humanoids as well as some machinery had appeared. As the usual formalities had been dealt with, and the unloading process had started, Wick was invited inside. Something was, however, very strange here... for example, the platform itself: easily visible from above and built in a hurry without even any railings installed... and these boxes, which should have been kept inside... and the desire to discuss one more business thing right here on the spot. ============================================================ Some extra pictures are on the Flickr album. I would have this MOC judged.
  14. Thank you all for the kind comments. I shall make a few more MOCs to illustrate the character story before joining the Alliance. They do bother me as well, but I've decided to keep them in order to have "not so white" overall color scheme.
  15. Pilot reporting for duty. The introduction freebuild is here.
  16. Wick Nole is a traveller residing on Corellia. He makes his living by providing transportation services within the system. Although there is much to do here to get a good money fot the cargo delivery, Wick tries to stay within the law now as the number of Imperial patrols had increased here in the last years. The craft is a relatively small ship with single engine and two cargo storage areas on the back. Some pictures of the craft and pilot: Remaining pictures are on the Flickr album. This is my first MOC for SoNE. I would have it judged.
  17. Wick Nole reporting for duty. Rebel. Pilot. I'd like to use this image for index picture and signature image:
  18. Some thoughts on the minifigs (maybe I'll repeat something which was said earlier, but still...). Cantina: announced Han + Luke + Obi Wan, dewback assumes sandtrooper (as shown in ad), Han and mentioning of weapon assumes Greedo, droid scanner and speeder gives an option for droids (even 2), bar assumes (?) barman or Ponda. But that would make a total of 8, and makes two Squidwards a noncence. Therefore droids are unlikely... and replacement of them with musicians possible. Snowspeeder: Luke + Dak + Snowtrooper. Seems enough. AT-AT: Driver + Snowtrooper. Trapdoor assumes Luke... but snowspeeder ib the same wave makes this unkiely. But two minifigs are too few for the set... maybe extra trooper and officer. Of extra rebel troopers. B-Wing: Pilot for sure... expect 2 minifigs more (+ droid). Ten Numb seems appropriate, as well as Leia. Star Destroyer: Palpatine's hologram assumes Vader and no red guard... therefore plenty of crew member options. But who?
  19. Could not resist. IMGP1728.jpg by Nikolai Mordan, on Flickr
  20. I would also forecast the set price of 49.99 USD (equal to 7666 Rebel Base, or to Wampa Cave + Hoth battlepack of 2009). Of course, comparing the new set to 7666, it should be a bit cheaper based on things included... But the general TLC price increase + new minifigure would bring it back to 50 usd level. And I'm really worried on European prices. :(
  21. Tauntaun is my guess. The exact lettering would be " t a u n a t ".
  22. I've tried to make a more proper translation of the text on from russian webpage. The text there is, however, not structured as true Russian. There are some word order mistakes, context mistakes etc. It looks like a text translated into russian from some other language using Google (i'm not even sure if it is done from English, as Eng-Rus translator in Google is rather good). As for the minifigs - there are 5 mentioned: Luke, Reekan, Hoth rebel trooper, and EITHER (2 snowspeeder pilots) or (2 snowtroopers). Please see the translated text below: Go with Luke Skywalker to the ice-covered planet of Hoth in his snowspeeder! Beware the command center tranches with Commander Reekan and catch the Imperial snowspeeder pilots, who are attacking rebel defense forces. Shoot from the turret guns! Help the rebels to defeat the forces of the Galactic Empire in the Battle for the planet Hoth from the movie "Star Wars: Episode V. The Empire Strikes Back "! The set includes five minifigures with various weapons and accessories: Luke Skywalker in snowspeeder uniform, General Reekan, a Hoth rebel trooper and 2 snowspeeder pilots. Stop the attack of Imperial forces using help of Luke Skywalker and his snowspeeder! Help commander Reekan and Luke Skywalker on a snow speeder to protect rebel defense forces from imperial snowtroopers! The set includes five minifigures with various weapons and accessories: Luke Skywalker in snowspeeder uniform, General Reekan, a Hoth rebel trooper and 2 snowspeeder pilots. Features of the set: snowspeeder, speeder bike, E-Web blaster, Imperial Probe-droid, turret gun, command center, a trench and tauntaun. Snow speeder has an opening cockpit and tow hook with rope. Tower gun can shoot. Set includes six weapons: lightsaber, blaster pistol, 2 blasters and two blaster rifles. Accessories: shovel, pickaxe and windsock. Repel the attack of Imperial Forces! Shoot the shells! Dimensions of the snowspeeder: height - more than 6 cm, length - 18 cm, width - 13 cm. Dimensions of the trench: length - more than 20 cm, width - 11 cm, height - 10 cm
