Contest! The Frozen Beyond, Results are in!
Captain Braunsfeld replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Category C entry: AppleCalypse Now! ... which means I am done! Actually Cat C was a bit difficult to achieve. The goal was to show how the Algus change the weather AND how they are defeated. I don't think that can be depicted well in a single MOC. This is why I have included the weather change in my Cat A entry and have focused on defeating the Algus in Cat C (although they brought their portion of snow with them). -
Victory is ours! Long and hard was the fight against the Algus. Many different ways were conceived to beat them but none really worked totally well - until today. Until Samuel Marron realized that all the different tactics had to be combined! You need the fire of the Mitgardian Dragon.... ("I love the smell of dragon fire in the morning") ... guided by magic rabbit gloves... ... with the helpful addition of burning Kaliphlinian oil... .. the magic of the Rainbow Spell ... .. and the freshness of the Mitgardian apple barrage... .. to defeat the Algus! And so it came that in the Battle of Green Field the Algus were utterly destroyed. None of them escaped. Under the force of the combined Mitgardian attack the power of the Algus waned, the cold disappeared, their snow melted, their bodies dissolved. So, the weather forecast was bad ... for the Algus. The End. Larger versions on flickr. There is a prequel showing where the Rainbow Spell came from. And there is a sequel showing the victory party. C&C welcome! One addition: As we have to show how the Algus change the weather, here is "WALK LIKE AN ALGUSSIAN": In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 9 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now! 10) The Victory Party

Thanks - cute, isn't it? ... so is the nobleman! My sons requested the cat. Thank you. The guy is actually not a king. If you recall help from a nobleman this is Duke Fasel with his magic rabbit gloves. They have been found helpful. I like the stuff Calvin is building out of snow... Thanks, but those are actually rabbit gloves Yes, the guy has appeared in some previous MOCs. Can it run? My big question is "does it fall apart?"...

REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
Captain Braunsfeld replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fine review, excellent work! Now I know exactly what I need to find once the series comes out. -
Thanks a lot. Did I mention that the wonderful non-gray castle is modular and has some interior ... which I still need to take pictures of...

Awesome - so you have joined the cesbrick-side?

Very nice, fine MOC! At first glance I thought it was some colonial building for pirates (and maybe this inspires me to build something like that) but then I realized it is kaliphinnial!
-
I'm learning some word here. "fortified manor" - yes, that's what it is. "gazebo" - yepp, I had to include something to show that it is normally warmer around Red Brick castle. The goat is fine! No goats were harmed in the creation of this MOC! Thank you. I included soccerkid's sigfig but maybe that was not clear enough. Thank you! Yes, red is odd. But red is a colour I can work with at any time as the rest of the family does not use it And I am quite proud how the ice has worked out

Right. That is why I had a lot of unused red bricks as I also avoid the colour usually... Thanks - that was my goal to make that look ok.

Thanks. I try to use recurrent characters for my MOCs. Castle is meant to be simple - the true action is on the ice! Yepp. Castle is inspired by "Burg Satzvey". Melting water? pls see below Pls. keep your idea. It will look different in any case! I had some help from my wife for the garden... That is interesting because I meant it as a "wave of ice" coming towards the Mitgardians. And the fire does not help so much. The red castle is actually built in a modular way, i.e. you can take it apart on all different levels and it also has some interior. You got it. We had some rabbit glove action in the past... Let's see.

Category A entry: Water does not stop them! -
The Battle for Red Brick Castle: The Algus are attacking deep in the South of Mitgardia ... and water does not stop them: Their freezing spells bring ice and snow - and soon they charge! Some defenders are scared... ... but the Mitgardian mage is fighting the ice with fire: And Major Marron is leading his men and heroes into the battle: ... and the fight against the Algus goes on... More pictures can be found on flickr. (Maybe you can spot some rabbit gloves. ) C&C welcome! In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 6 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!

Great build .. and excellent "water" -
Looks great, quite close to the real-life version.

As this is a pirate themed café in a modern town filled with modern people I have moved this from the pirate discussion forum to the town forum.

Great build. Looks perfectly fine!
