Medieval Fantasy World Collaboration
Admiral Blockbeard replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I have dreamed quite literally of making something like this. In my version I would however had a black knight theme to it. Love the village, and the castle, then the finer details like the waterfall and flowers, under ground tomb etc fit it all nicely. I can see the 2011 sets coming in seamlessly in this! A great pleasure to view, thanks to the creators for an entertaining creation and to whitefang for sharing such beauty with us all! -
Forgive my repeating what others may have said. I recall a time on this forum when we asked for more "farm" like animals, more villages and people of the kingdom. Well what a surprise to find they listened and supplied! We have cows, chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, villagers the list goes on. We see a return to the classic buildings of the past like a blacksmith and a gate/jail set even a call back to the old carriges. The following is my opinion, I only share it out of person view not any detailed anaylsis. Pros Farm settings Medieval Minifig Civilians Return to what works mixed with the risky new Cons New design sword and axe >as seen in blacksmith< Contraversial of me but I am a grumpy old man today :p Set to buy. Speaking as an AFOL I would most likely invest in the Mill Village Attack then Escape from Dragons Prison for the horse barding <3 In view of future... I would love the Dragons base to be like the Black Knights Castle (not Monarchs Castle) but from the "wooden-ness" of the wall it is unlikely. Will be interesting to see what a large Dragon base will look like when/if released. All round a nice little release, I always have prefered the human vs human days of castle. I look forward to more from the series.

First of all, amazing build! I have had my fair share of tinkering in MLCad, and can truely appreciate just how dedicated you were in the first steps to making this fine ship. Hopefully, you doing this helps show just how great the digital processes can be and just how valuable it is in planning. Unlimited bricks and building potential indeed. I am so inspired by your creation I have fired up the old MLCad, and started to build my own, based on your design, imitation after all is the ultimate form of flattery. If you could find a way to share the file it would be awesome, I could study more indepth the techniques you have used. Only one criticism my friend, the yellow bow ropes. I know its classic LEGO style, but your ship, only has that yellow part, it looks out of place, I would recommend a light brown, or perhaps dark tan a risker suggestion going for a gold look. It is only 1x3 plates after all. Regards, Cpt. PB

There are many people out there that agree with you, Dug up some old threads for you to read. Most of the thing you'll be interested in can be found here on Eurobricks own war-gaming thread. Some alternatives to ESPG are as below. Chiles Rules Brikwars And a thread thats very very similar to your own, I think you'll find most answers here. Best of luck finding a game buddy! Regards, Cpt. The economic crisis news has died down/old news, this swine flu has simply taken the new media mantle what needs to be said to sell news papers. People are more effected by drink drivers than the swine flu! Should we not be calling them a threat to all humanity, shouldn't the governing bodies of the world take a stronger effort in stopping the spread of these deaths? I question the media on almost everything I hear from it. I am disgraced at the fact they consider them selves "objective"... The media has become materialized, and it follows the money not the truth. All said and done only time will show what is to be from the swine flu. I feel for those who are effected, as I would feel for anybody sickened by any illness. Thats my two cents, Cpt. PB.

Much better now with the new key technique. Great creation and the best one so far! Nice accompanying story. cleaver use of existing mini-figs. At first I had expected a brick built cracken, forgetting we had one released through Lego. Keep up the great builds mate. Regards, Cpt. PB

Subterranean Shenanigans
Admiral Blockbeard replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love this creation so much I will comment it in two locations. I love the waterfall, did you have to buy the bricks especially for it? Your skills have certainly improved, but I would guess so have your brick collection. Sometimes ones own skill can be inhibited by what they have. I see you as a masterful builder and I look forward to your future creations as your collection grows! Regards, Cpt. PB -
I foresee her getting naked! this is the surprise we await yes? Those Pirate rats are sneaking around for something more than her writing letters! Wait what is this I behold! Hmm Nice Pixel-ation there!! Improvements Use a white background when taking photos, I can still see the green base plate in the reflection off the bricks. As stated already fill in the "gaps" I would like to see a wardrobe or a hammock introduced. What I liked Humorous back story Good assortment of bric a brac The hat stand The resourceful use of bricks in the wall. Regards, Cpt. PB

If you don't get some warped title for making a sausage making factory. There is something wrong with this site! looking good so far by the way. Regards, Cpt. PB

As for the pm idea, every body email what you have to hinckley me. make sure to include who you were talking to and include a time stamp(make it GMT for his my sainity! (your what?) Email I presume is on blahblah$%^&@blahblah.net only with out the "#$%" in it PM it to me! (mwahaha) We can give the long draining task to the host me he I will love it -
When we work hard to achieve some thing we feel good over our success. Army building is just another facet of this. Just like building a great moc, or winning a game in war hammer. A feeling of power can also be generated. I am a collector of Warhammer 40k, and never fought a battle, I have over 40 Imperial solders in Lego. This is like asking, why do people play video games if it never has any real world benefit, like when we die will it be read out that we owned in Halo, took over the world seven times in total war etc... I am collecor of lots of things, if you feel i have not answered your question then please pm me and i will try to give a more in depth emotional reasoning for you.

My ultimate MOC would be a combination of Z old Fort Brighton and my Efford Port (links to the topic of the creations) But large enough to house numerous boats! Then once it was complete I would create a section of inland village area, which has a old style castle atop a hill. (think MMV and black monarchs castle) That to me is a perfect MOC. Regards, Cpt.PB

Baritones 2-Conclusion
Admiral Blockbeard replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
A loud dark grumble come across the now empty town. Perry's ghost has appeared to tell his story. SAME HERE! The mastermind behind this position was the brains trust of Trex and myself. If we had not made contact so early and I had not shared ALL my conversations with Ian, we would have been in a much worse position. Trex if only you had killed Quarryman before he could get to me! abd then you! Ian has avenged us! I was also the one whom figured out Zephs power and convinced Trex to kill his own wife! that to me won us the grounds to win. If she had survied just a little longer we were fried. This was actually set in motion from my dealings with Inertia, and Trex heeded my warning (just before my death) that inertia was a remaining block in the game for him moving freely, I had kept him busy enough for trexx to get his dirty job done! yes yes it was :skull: My role was a short one this time around but my PM playing really brought the rats to a win-able situation by the time I died. Yes my mistake was revealing the rats did not know each other, then Hinckley went and told all the women! I was dead meat from tht point on... Trexx and I really hit the ground running once we aere sure of each others alligiance. I still think however Trex you should have killed Quarryman then convert Ian... but thats history. I have a copy of most pms, Yes IS even my original pm from hinkley! We should find a way to post them all in order... Great game guys, I hope you will all see just how much went on behind closed doors. It really was magical how IS pulled it off, it was like shooting fish in a barrel for him! they were goldfish at that completely forgetting anything from 5 seonds ago... Regards, Cpt. PB -
in one of the pictures it looks like the mec is peeing on the scarab! Great work. I love taking these down in Halo 3, so much fun! Regards, Cpt. PB

Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!
Admiral Blockbeard replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
What do you sya to such a magnificent creation, your ships not bad either ... Seriously, man that is one hell of a good job you have done there. I am amazed at the detail, can not wait to see this finished. Be sure to finish it before Phed finishes his! I am gathering this one will never be dismantled after building it. Kind Regards, Cpt. This is a massive bump here... I read though 90% of this topic I find the response from Lego very surprising (perhaps see my rebuttal). To be honest I usually just go with what ever Bricklink has. KK1 and KK2 are listed under castle, so they are sub-themes. The rebuttal I am putting on the table is that Lego is saying that KK(s) is a seperate theme to all the old lego is that is a "Sub-theme" a different theme yes, but still in the over all umbrella of castle. Able to read this thread with the current Fantasy Era line makes for very interesting reading. You can see how Lego has evolved their product thought the ages. I might just do a thesis on product development and interent fan communities. I found this so throughly interesting! -character development - story -variation... fantasy era has it all! Thank you to those that took part in this deep discussion I have been entertained and swayed on both sides of the argument. I hope by my commenting it will bring others to this great topic. Regards, Cpt. PB PS I wonder what response we would get from Lego today?
