  1. The cottage and curved foot bridge in the top left corner are just superb!
  2. For me, it is a function of space and money (i.e. not enough of either), and how badly I want the set. I usually only have few things on display and rotate them regularly. Most of the sets I buy get built once and then the parts go into the general collection for MOCs, mainly modular buildings. After a while you end up with quite a collection of bricks and it ends up being cheaper just to buy the pieces you need to complete a set from Bricklink. A good recent example for me was the Haunted House. I love the look of the Haunted House, but I'm not interested in the Monster Fighters theme or zombies, and I don't have a need or desire to have this on display for any extended period of time. Further, I could build most of it from existing parts in my collection. In this case, it was a lot cheaper to buy the missing pieces to build a "restored" Haunted House (excluding minifigs, ghosts, spider web, etc) from Bricklink than paying the Aussie retail price for the set. I don't have an exact number because there were a couple of orders, with other parts in them, but I expect it was probably less than $20AU. I don't think this works for whole sets, though. Unless it is one that is out of production, in which case you don't have much choice! At the other end of the range was R2-D2, which I did purchase at retail price. I didn't have a lot of the pieces required to build him, but he was a "must have" for me and it was one that I intended to keep on display (rather than rotate). Hope this helps a little. Kristel
  3. Just wanted to say thanks for putting on a great inaugural BrisBricks. The displays and layouts were fantastic. My husband (the Star Wars fan) was blown away by the size of the UCS sets on display. What a turn out. I didn't really appreciate how many people would be turning up to an event like this. Again, well done and thanks for organising this great event.
  4. I think that is how many of us ended up here. The hillside house is just the start. Next thing you know the dining room table becomes the city layout filled with modular buildings! Anyway, welcome to Eurobricks.
  5. I don't think I could ever get tired of looking at modular buildings! This is a great building. The dark blue / tan combination is quite striking. I also like that you have incorporated the pizza parlour and bike shop, but my favourite part is the area next to the building, particularly the flower bed. Every city needs a little "green" space to escape from the crowds and relax.
  6. A great tribute! I love the facades done with the multi-colour plates. And the brick effect using the grey tiles works really well. Should the building on the left have its own front door? It seems separate to the grey/dark red one.
  7. This is beautiful! I have been able to resist the trains to date because I know that will be the end of the dining room table once and for all. I don't think I'll be able to resist this one. I need a bigger house.
  8. Brilliant! There was so much going on. So many details. I can only imagine how long this would have taken to make.
  9. Looking good! Reducing the amount of black in the posts has made a huge difference.
  10. Welcome to Eurobricks. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have been.
  11. @badbob001 I love what you have done with the surfboards, skateboards, ice-skates, etc. The mime looks fantastic.
  12. Thanks, LL. I can see how it is done now. Very clever! Kristel
  13. That last one made me laugh out loud. The posing on those minifigures is just perfect! Thanks for sharing.
  14. I have finally found the 16 microfigs - only took three go's. I love the tool drawers! I was going to ask if there was a front end to put that engine in, but then spotted the Lamborghini picture in your Flickr stream.
  15. You've packed a lot of nice details into this MOC and the minifigs going about their daily business really brings it to live. Well done!
  16. Glad to hear you're OK, Lightning. We'd be lost without a regular update on New Mannum!
  17. Very impressive! I am curious about some of the interesting techniques used. Are the plates in the arch held by gravity / friction, like the way they used to make stone arches? How are the hand decorations connected to the wall?
  18. Ordered Business Card Holder (x4), Friends Advent Calendar and Star Wars Advent Calendar from Shop@home. Can't wait for those letter tiles to arrive! I was only going to order 2 sets but the hubby actually suggested getting more. Maybe, he is finally turning?
  19. 5. DarkDragon - 2 1. Ricecracker and Si-MOCs - 1
  20. This is impressive! The colour combination works great for the locomotive.
  21. This is fantastic. Great choice of song - very catchy.
  22. I'm intrigued how you will do this. There are others better qualified, but here is my first thought: macaroni bricks, hinge plates or bricks, with the roof built out of bricks sideways (i.e. from left edge of roof to right edge of roof).
  23. You generally don't pay when you checkout. Rather, you submit your order and then the seller will send you an invoice which includes shipping costs. Have you checked their splash page or store terms for a shipping table? Also, some sellers are happy to provide a shipping quote if you email them with the details of what you want to purchase and where you live. Hope this helps. Kristel
  24. Congratulations on the call from LEGO. These are fantastic, they look so real. I love the candy star, the lantern and the drawers. The use of the seats for the rose petals is ingenious!
  25. You've got me hooked. I want to know and see more of the Kelasituan!
