  1. This is fantastic! My favourite details are the t-bars, the chain on the mini figure and the texture in the walls. The variation in the top part (don't know what to call it - the balcony bits on the roof) where you have mixed cheese slopes, tiles and plates, works really well also! Very clever use of the bars on the window and the cheese slopes for the angled beams. Pretty much perfect all round.
  2. Looks good. I really prefer the restored versions of the HH. I like the colour combination you have used, but would have to agree that a white only for the columns would be better.
  3. Congratulations everyone. Well done. And thanks to Eurobricks, too, for another great contest.
  4. The haunted house looks fantastic presented this way. Raising it and adding the cemetery and overgrown garden make it look eerie and haunted, like it was intended to. It deserves to be a focal point for this layout, rather than being tucked away in the corner!
  5. Thanks, everyone, for the great comments. I wanted to make the house look new, before it became run-down and haunted. I have the brown shutters on my Wanted List on BrickLink, but am not convinced that I really need them. They work on the original model because it is meant to be run-down. It might look a bit odd on my version because the shutters will be shorter than the windows. I am also a fan of the 16 wide modular, as it lets me build more with my limited brick supply and funds! And I like building row houses. Actually, this one would probably look quite nice as a row, maybe in a few colours ... a sand blue one, a tan one and a dark red one, maybe? Definitely modular. If you have a closer look at the third picture, you can see a row of plates and then a row of tiles above the window. Same with the windows on the first floor. (Oops, just realised I should have put a row of LBG plates before the tiles to finish of the first floor.) I don't have the Haunted House set, but I didn't need to make too many substitutions. The main one is the bricks. I have used 1x2s with groove, 1x3s and 1x8s in sand green, which don't come in the official set. I don't own any plain 1x2s or 1x6s in sand green. Also, the LGB (side walls on ground floor) and black bricks (side of roof) aren't in the official set. I did a BrickLink order last night to be able to finish off the trims in the right colours, but decided against getting more sand green bricks at this stage. Hopefully, with this set coming out, the price of sand green bricks might come down a bit if I am patient. I don't mind at all. Again, thanks for the comments, everyone. You have inspired me to finish this one off. Expect to see an update at some stage with the back done and an interior. Cheers, Kristel
  6. Just beautiful. Love the colour scheme and the rocks.
  7. Hi everyone, I am not into the Monster Fighters theme, but liked to look of the Haunted House and would like one that fits into a city layout. I tried several 32-stud versions, but realised very quickly that I would need to buy a lot more bricks to pull that off. So, I opted for a 16-stud version. Here is my WIP - there is no interior or backyard, and the back is just a plain wall (no backdoor or windows). I had to make a couple of colour substitutions because I only had a few of the black 1x2 triple slopes and the black and light bluish grey plates with handles. I think it's OK, but there is something not right about it. I can't pinpoint it. Anyway, comments, criticisms and suggestions welcome. Cheers, Kristel
  8. Very impressive. Those doors are grand!
  9. She would like that. I'll keep an eye out for the layout with the Haunted House and Friends!
  10. I've been to Bricks'n'Fun a couple of times to pick up BrickLink orders and talked to Gary (?) about the BLTG meetings they have there, but it is a little out of my way. I'm not aware of any other AFOL groups in this area. I'll be visiting BrisBricks later this month and hope to meet some of the local AFOLs there. I'll be the one with the semi-interested husband and the worst behaved 5.5 year old.
  11. Thanks! Guess I'll be hitting up the city store tomorrow.
  12. Has anyone found any Series 8 CMF in Brisbane yet?
  13. This is a great little town, but I always thought it was missing something. It has finally come to me ... where's the cars? It needs at least one beat-up old ute with a kelpie or cattle dog in the back.
  14. This set came with our Lego Club magazine yesterday. I am glad I'm not the only one wondering what the stand was all about.
  15. The details in this are awesome. I particularly like the teapots and how you have used the flower for the coasters under the mugs. You've created a very realistic tablecloth effect as well.
  16. This is very clever!
  17. Supported. We definitely need more civilian sets like this one.
  18. Playability and boxes for me too, with one exception - the Star Wars sets. For some reason, I have this need to keep Star Wars boxes. Just the bigger ones, not the battle packs. I don't really know why because I have no intention of selling my Star Wars sets any time soon. With every other theme, including modulars (my favourite theme), the boxes go straight into the recycle bin. I often find myself "swooshing" the starfighters around. Everything else is pretty much just for display, and doesn't get played with.
  19. Great work! Now I know what to do with that bat thing ... hang him upside down in a dark corner. He really creeps me out!
  20. This is nicely done. I like the use of those old style windows at the front and the clip for the light is clever. The car parked on the roof is very cute!
  21. I keep finding myself coming back for another look. These are really awesome. I especially like the rainbow.

    SoF: Pet Wash

This is so cute and very clever. Good luck, not that I think you need it with an entry like this!
