Dear guys, Thanks so much for all the compliments and praise, and of course for blogging the Arc and other fabulous creations on Classic-Town, the creators and I are all very grateful! What you guys have said really give us the momentum to keep on brickingt!! I am really sorry for such a late late reply and I am even more sorry to make it a short one. Many of us, in particular Andybear, the creator of the Tiananmen Gate (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=54261), are busy perfecting the layout even though the show is already running. Thank you all for your support and I hope you enjoy what we have posted so far! Warm regards, Jared

Dear all, I didn't plan to build a block of brand name fashion stores when I started working on a Tommy Hilfiger Store back in 2009. I am very thankful for all the appreciation, compliments and sense of achievement that I have received for it and its successors. Now that I have built six of them and I feel that its time for me to take a break and move forward to building something else. While my buildings are not designed to be Parisan, I think the Arc de Triomphe should be the perfect departure gift to close the project for now and I hope you would like it (It's currently on display at Cityplaza Hong Kong along with many other fabulous creations by local AFOLs, I hope you guys won't mind that we are sharing them here as well): The Arc is now sitting next to the Seine to accommodate the layout, and I think it looks good. Together with the Eiffel Tower, a MOD by William (a fellow AFOL). Lighting is installed around and underneath the Arc (Thanks to William!). While the real Arc projects light onto the exterior from the outside, I am very satisfied how this modification turns out. While we are underneath the Arc, here's a picture of how it looks like: Tomb of the unknown solider Could this be Napolean Bonaparte?! View from Champs-Élysées As many of you should have probably noticed, I have deliberately changed the pure-tan / grey color scheme of the monument to include dark tan, light bley, dark bley and white, I hope this won't offend anybody. Thanks for watching, C&C are always welcome!

Thank you all guys for your kind words and support, I am sorry that I have to keep my reply short, but I am really grateful that you guys like my works For the horn thing on the wall, I want to do it in brown but I am not sure if all the pieces used come in any sort of brown, does any one have any idea? Once again, thanks guys!

Thanks JJ, but I insist on using Lego elements only, sticker is the road to the dark side... Maybe I will come up with something to do the logo one day :-) Let's hope Lego will make the right laptops! Thank you Legocrazy81! The layout is actually the work of the Legend Bricks team and the cars are built by tf2, a fellow HK fan, I am glad you like it! Thanks Nirvana!

Thanks prateek! Sorry I did a bad job with the camera, the exterior is actually in dark orange, hehe... but I will do a nougat building someday. All 6 branded stores are still intact, but I am afraid I can't take a picture of them all as I have limited space at home. However, I do have a photo of 7 stores, the seventh one being built by Andybear (LEGO Ambassador HK), during Bricks Adventure 2011: I am sorry that I need to go right now, will reply the other guys tomorrow, thanks!

B-OM-16D Hi all, I would like to present to you the latest installment to my Rodeo Drive style buildings, Ralph Lauren™ store. The exterior of the store was built in eight days and thus I didn't choose a style that is as extravagant as its predecessors, but I think I did a fair job making it look as much like a real flagship as possible (e.g. the blue awnings, the greening everywhere, but sorry, I don't have the Polo logo). To compensate for the lack of exterior details, I added more to the interior than usual in hope of gaining back marks , I hope you guys will like it! Disclaimer: I remember someone did a chandelier with the wheel piece before, but I can't remember where I saw it, so this bit isn't entirely original.

Re ACCURATEin: Thank you ACCURATEin! I am afraid the next one does not live up to the standard already set. Re Jasper Joppe Geers: As an Apple fan, I did thought about an Apple store... but its just too difficult to render the logo perfectly, and I can't find any white / silver laptops to sell... Re Leo-J: Thanks for your compliments!

Re Fuzzylegobricks: Thank you! Re LegoFan03: Thanks and here's a picture of the Bricks Adventure 2011 Rodeo Drive: The third store from the left is the work of Andybear, a fellow LEGO fan. My sixth building sits in the center of the block, I don't think it is as great as its predecessors though Allow me to post it here as well when I get the time to shoot some pictures of it. Re Pandora: Thanks! I originally planned to do "more" with the display window by placing underwear-C.Ronaldo and Megan Fox behind them, hehe Re Cecilie: Thanks for the compliments! The logo and the staircase are also my favorite parts of the model. Re Plissken: Thanks very much! Re SilentMode: I guess this is the most efficient way to use the extra visors that we never need Re Rick, Mrlegoninja, and prateek: Thank you for the kind words guys! I also really like the logo and the staircase myself. Re LegoSjaak: Thanks for the compliments, I did a lot of trial and error and I still have a lot to learn, I am sure you can do something better than this in time! Re Vincent Kessels: Hi Vincent, thanks for your kind words and of course your suggestion. The big windows on the right were designed to be so insanely big to give the building a modern look out of a classical stone-built frame and to bring in more light for the Bricks Adventure visitors to peek inside as we didn't install lighting for the modular buildings this year (btw, I also installed sky windows to 3 of my other buildings to make the interior more visible for such purpose). Let me see if an extra half floor will work without modifying the exterior, that should bring in more fun when looking from outside. Re lightningtiger: Thanks lightningtiger! I am not a good builder of cars but I had the chance to place a MOC limo of a fellow LEGO fan in front of the Gucci store last year, and it looked really nice! Re Syn, -zenn, kill will, Admiral Croissant, and Teazza: Thank you so much and I am really glad that you guys like it! Re WhiteFang: Thanks WhiteFang for your continuous support and blogging of this new store, I am really honoured! Just a minor note that the brand should spell "Emporio Armani" Re KielDaMan: Thank you for your very kind words and I am so flattered! Now I am a bit afraid that the sixth store, which is a rather plain one, will be a big let down for you guys... Re brickyrob and CptMugwash: Thanks guys!

B-OM-16E Hi guys, I am honored to present to you Emporio Armani™ store, one of the latest additions to my Rodeo Drive style modular buildings, which was happily showcased at Bricks Adventure 2011 in Hong Kong in Jan 2011. As I did with its predecessors, the interior of the EA store adopted some of the design elements from actual stores across the globe (I used mostly pictures from the net for reference, though I did peek into the real stores in town whenever I walk-by). As most of the real life EA stores look really contemporary and employ a lot of glass and steel on the facade, I designed my EA store as an old bank building retrofitted for the brand, giving it very large windows on one side and old fashioned, small windows with slanted roof on the other, to make it look more in line with my earlier stores. Most of my time on the project went to building the logo, the thin-stripping technique posed a real challenge but was also the key to the look, which gave me lots of headaches over the past eight months (yes, the EA store was supposed to be completed 8 months ago, I shelved it 3 times because of the logo), fortunately I was able to complete it 2 weeks before the show. I hope you enjoy the pictures and please share with me your comments and criticisms, thanks a lot!

Hi guys! Thanks very much for your kind words about my buildings! I have been a member of EB since 2008 and I am sorry about my lack of activity on the forum (I am not active in our Hong Kong forums either, I just stumble across this post as I am clearly a big modular building fan ). The 4 stores have all been posted on EB before so I guess they don't deserve a separate topic for now (btw, that odd Hermes balcony has been amended): http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43390 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=37908 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40119 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27054 Maybe we can discuss this after the Chinese New Year holidays, when I can get a chance to take some photos of it: Once again, thanks so much guys!

Very great job andybear! Your Zenko-ji Temple is so detailed and true to the original, the colors are just right and the texture of the structures really give that vintage feel! I am sure this will be one of the highlights of the Bricks Adventure show. Disclaimer: I will be participating in the show as well, but surely I can't do something as great as this :-P P.S. In case you guys don't know, Andybear is our new LEGO Ambassador in Hong Kong, congraz Andy!

That's horrible! I hope nothing underneath the shelf get damaged... As others have said, maybe you can do some MOC with the parts before restoring them.
-
This looks really great! It's true to the original, colorful and cheerful, probably the best mod I have seen to the Town Plan cinema! I think it's far more attractive than the Grand Emporium sitting on the opposite street.
-
Wow...this is so awesome! I voted for the white and light bluish grey laptops, I guess the guy who suggested them share the same dream with me。。。
-
Thanks KittKC! I am sorry but I don't have any instructions for my MOC, I just build them with what I have in mind at the time.
-
Wow! I that logo! So accurate!
-
This MOC is so full of details and I love the atmosphere you have created, I wish I can go on holiday right now!
-
Your truck looks just like the real thing! Good job!
-
I like your work very much, I am a fan of LEGO house interior and your photo is very well taken!
-
I agree with BlueBard, this is a really interesting way to create perspective and layer, great job!

Re Commodore Hornbricker: Thanks for your kind words! I was actually quite afraid that the use of tan, dark tan and gold would make the building look vulgar! Re Peppermint_M: Thanks for blogging me, I am really honoured! Re BlueBard: Thank you BlueBard and I wish I can make better successors to the existing stores! Re lightningtiger: Thanks lightningtiger! The torsos are attached to tiles/ 1x1 plate modified with clip on top and a bar hidden in the shelves. Only 1 PoP set was "murdered" for the gold canopies, I got the other dark tan pieces from 10197 Fire Brigade and some 2x2 dark tan tiles from a local brick seller. I think the Fire Brigade is a perfect parts pack as it comes with lots of white windows, and bricks in 2 rare colors, dark tan and dark red. Re ACCURATEin: Thanks ACCURATEin! The check pattern carpet is one of my favourite parts of the model as well! Re wooootles: Thanks for the compliments! Re WhiteFang: Thank you very much for your kind words WhiteFang, I am glad that you like it. My building of this series are to satisfy my desire to live a luxurious live that isn't going to come true for now , and to have some artistic elements in my life (I think LEGO creation is a form of art, the only art that I am ever good at). The carpet could have been more accurate but I was just too lazy to work on the dark red stripes (which should all be thin stripes), I guess they are good enough for now. I guess I have successfully deceived you and lightningtiger, no Grand Emporium is "harmed" during the Burberry construction process, the tan bricks are from 2 old MOCs which I think they are gone for good . I really have no idea what to build next and I am not going to rule out any possibility this time , I think I will seriously consider your suggestions ! Re KielDaMan, homoludens, benny, prateek and Izy: Thank you guys! I am happy that the buildings look good together while they all have individuality. I wish I can build better in the future! Re LuxorV: Thanks! Actually I didn't think much about the textile of the check pattern when I was building it, it's a carpet I guess Re darthperson: Thank you darthperson, the gold plate at the top is actually what started it all, too high for a corner stone, huh?

Back in April and after the Hermes Store was completed, I was planning for an Armani Store as Hermes's successor. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to scrap the project due to technical difficulties. A Burberry Store is something that I always want to build, but just too afraid to do it cos it definitely involves the use of tan as the main color, which I think would make things look boring (It turns out that dark tan is even trickier to use). In contrast with my previous works, I didn't spent much time on brand research and I just briefly looked at some shop and check pattern photos, so most of the stuff here come from my imagination. Anyway, I gave my shot and I hope you guys like it (Does it live up to your expectation, WhiteFang?)! P.S. I unwillingly have to reduce the floor space for handbags as I just can't find the traveller set in HK! P.P.S. Nope...I haven't included the Hermione minifig here...Let's pretend the dummy at the shop window is Emma Watson...

D2C Designers requesting feedback for 2012 models
jaredchan replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
1. No, the sets look too good to be parts pack 2. Whole series for my core themes (Modular buildings, Batman, Indiana Jones, Toy Story), Individual appeal for other lines 3. Roman Colosseum, Big Ben, Saint Basil's Cathedral, The Temple of Heaven (Beijing), Bank of China Building (Hong Kong) 4. Carnival/ Zoo/ Circus/ amusement park type of set; 5. Keep the modular buildings line going and keep up the level of details (I understand TLG is paying more attention to the building interior but I don't mind spending a few more pennies as long as you keep the exterior as good as the Cafe Corner itself) Bring us more rare colors pieces and make them more accessible (e.g. dark blue and sand red) in huge quantities I know this does not relate to product development, but I would appreciate if TLG can reduce the box sizes, they are mostly half full (half empty). I have multiples of each of the modular buildings, not to mention the other gigantic sets, and they are taking too much storage space! -
This is fantastic! I like all the details and the camouflage! It's so real that I feel like walking into a WWII museum!
