  1. Hmm... this brings up alot of good points. Are there any good photo galleries of a completed BSB and a SES for comparison? Close ups on the little details and all that.
  2. As a kid I loved it, but as a kid I was also rather weeaboo. In retrospect, It wasn't that awesome, but it wasn't terrible. Personally I feel they could have delved more into it, but whatever. The larger sets were cool, and I did like the new accessories (a Samurai helment makes for an excellent MOC Imperial Walker Helment from Star Wars :-D ) Now, the real question is, what Historical Asian theme should they do next? PERSONALLY. I'd like to see either Romance of the Three Kingdoms (China), or the Mongol Empire (Mongolians! Also, Central Asians, Chinese, and Eastern Europeans!)
  3. Those images aren't showing up for me.
  4. Thanks muchly, I'll look into that :-)
  5. Maybe a "Masterpeice" series of pirates, similar to that of the Star Wars ones? We get expensive, scaled to minifigure models that are historically accurate! Sorta like that awesome Millenium Falcon set. Failing that, we need moar ports and civies.
  6. Those are nice, but I fear they may be too "northern" for what I need. The story my girlfriend and I are writing involves a fictional Arabic-Ottoman cross kingdom, and while the Ottoman designs work well for ships and costume, I was hoping for a more Arabian appearence in architecture and whatnot. Also, there is the ordeal of anachronisms, I'm not sure which buildings would have looked like what during the 1600-1700s. I hope you understand, because you've been a BIG help with all this.
  7. That stream and waterfall is absolutely goregeous, and I'm not even a fan of SNOT!
  8. Ah, duh. I stupid X-D Forgot about that! Seeing these costumes is a major releif for me! I'm sure my girlfriend will be happy too to see these references. Now, you wouldn't happen to have good images on buildings, palaces, and architecture would you? X-D
  9. The Yankees, eh? Maybe I should move up north then! (Heehee, I'm an American Southerner. A Dixie!) Also, I just LOVE how creative people get with pieces when they need "still" special effects, IE: hat for water, helment fluff for blood... Also, I see alot of recommendations for Black Seas Barracuda. I was originally setting my eyes on Skull Eyes Schooner, what are the big differences between the sets?
  10. This is a very wonderful piece. So many unique things I love about it, ESPECIALLY the Valkyrie figurehead. The stern of the ship is gorgeous, and the design of the sailors I also love, and the fact you made a custom anchor is cool too. The full side shot of the ship is awe inspiring with those sails.
  11. Exactly my logic! Personally I feel it should be a crime to buy LEGOs and not BUILD with them... X-D As for prices, I once saw a MISB 80s castle twinpack (one which had the bodice piece i need) selling on Ebay for a WHOPPING $1400 8-
  12. Yeeeeeeep, that's the bodice. Looks like it hasn't aged so well though, but that could be me. Maybe I'll use a print instead *shrugs* As for MISB, I'm not that keen on it. I wants Legos to, well, build with XD; as long as I get the set with all the parts and whatnot, I am happy.
  13. Yep, that's him. (Course I also need that blue bodice that came in just ONE castle set from the 80s... <_< ) And oh? I was assuming England would get it easier because they're in Europe, where all the LEGOs come from. X-D
  14. Nah, just saying they don't fit my criteria at the moment is all X-D Anyway, yes, this would be my first trip into ANY sort of professional customizing. And from what I've seen, customization is pratically an investment...
  15. Not in any real order, but..... -Port Royal (THE Port Royal) -London (has a river for ports) -Venice <3 -Grecco-Persian War (can you say Battle of Platea?) -Romance of the Three Kingdoms (I know for certain there is a large naval war around the end of the story. <3 for Ancient Chinese warships and hueg ballistae) -Hispanoila (as in the ship) -Marsielle <3 -Lisbon (Portugese capital, is also on the waterfront, I beleive) -Fort Fisher, Wilmington (INCREDIBLY important Confederate port during the American Civil War) -Fort Sumter, Charleston (another Confederate port) -Vicksburg (town on the Missisippi, also invovled in the Civil War) -Hong Kong <3 -Phillipine Isles (during Spanish Colonization) -Moby Dick (the entire book in general has tons of MOC capability) -Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (a video game, a ZELDA video game, set on the high seas! There's gotta be SOMETHING you'll love there! <3) That's all I got for now... are we limited to the Wind and Sail, or can it be ANYTHING involving ships? Because if that's so I have a few more ideas....
  16. You mean those rocks that appeared ALOT in the Divers series, as well as smaller Pirate sets?
  17. Holy crap that's AWESOME. Do you have a legend for which ship is called and does what? Also, I REALLY need reference for what would be an Ottoman "battleship", or whatever they would have used for their naval flasgships. Like a middle eastern equivilent of a war-equipped Spanish Galleon. Also, does anyone have good culture and society references from the 1600-1700s for the Ottomans/Arabs? I need good visual reference for cities, palaces, and costumes for all social classes.
  18. I'm new to the Lego Lingo, but what is "BURPS"? As for the set itself, I was never too interested in the Islanders themselves, but the baseplate for that set is both stylish and has excellent MOC capacity. Also, the bridge is cool-ish, as is the statue, and you DO get like what, 5 or 6 Islanders in that set? The canoe and rowboat are also good additions for MOCs.
  19. Ahhh, I see then. Do you happen to have any Ottoman ship references?
  20. Exactly, good sir. This is my first escapade! Although as a kid I did "repaint" a few torsos behind my parents backs using my dad's old model paints, these were far from either professional or good looking or long lasting X-D
  21. Did something happen to him? X-O
  22. Are you sure? Because the Ottomans were among the first to really get a grasp on blackpowder. Great Bombards, anyone?
  23. Just as the title says. Any suggested pre-existing minifigure parts you could recommend for me to make some decent 1200s-1700s Mongolian robes or Chinese armor? Something similar to this pic is what I'm aiming for: http://sirchristopher.deviantart.com/art/D...sign-1-79157385
